5 of 5 Great camera Monday, February 18, 2008
Trent from Athens, ga

Did a lot of research, compared a lot of cameras online, read reviews. After having this camera and using it, I can say I am very pleased with it. Great value, wont find a better bang for your buck. Great resolution, great zoom, great video, good color ok battery life, ok shutter speed, soso picture processing time. While the processing time is by far the weakest link on this camera, I downloaded and installed the firmware upgrade as soon as I started the camera up. I can say that the processing time with the firmware upgrade is definatily better than the 10 seconds per picture, at highest detail and resolution, reported in the reviews. It might be as high as 5 seconds though, which is still bad. However, there is a trick, normally the picture processes right away after taking the picture, but if immediately after taking the picture you press the trigger in half way to auto focus, the viewfinder will come on and you can take another picture and they will both process after. rapid shot works great

5 of 5 Great Camera Wednesday, February 13, 2008
Tejano66 from Dallas, Texas
I am impressed with this camera so far. I love the burst feature that takes 5 pictures in a row. It also takes great HD videos that you can play with the HD Dock that needs to be purchased separately. The only downside is that rechargeable batteries do not come with the package.

I just bought the Z812IS,I sure wasted my time on other digital cameras......after getting this one! The best by far...My pictures awesome, love all the manual scene modes, color modes Lets go to the 12x zoom.......wow!! Optical zoom, I can see my image clear. High ISO mode, camera is very easy to use, handles great!! Looks great!! Good camera at a budget price, I would recommend this camera.....The only fault I found was the battery, I only got 70, shots with it, I didn't use the video. I looked for a rechargeable can't find, I can't even find the battiers to replace.Do buy the camera, its the best....Smile!! It's an Kodak Easyshare......

5 of 5 Best in the West Thursday, January 31, 2008
Reen Powers from Elk Grove California
I live in Calif. so we definitely have seasons. The nature color are so pretty and this camera does a very good job on capturing true color. For it not to be a professional camera, it is pretty darn close. Good buy also. I had a easy share camera and dock already, so I was happy to find out I only needed a $15.00 adapter to use my new camera on my old printer dock. I'm thinking of getting one for my Mom. It is easy to learn.

5 of 5 Great camera Thursday, January 31, 2008
Joe from Saint Louis, MO
Found that this camera is very easy to use and you can go to full manual setting if you are so inclined to. 12X optical zoom is the highest I found in a digital camera that is not a SLR. The 4.2X digital zoom does introduce noise into the picture just as any other camera would. (It can be turned off in the menu.) The panoramic mode is a great plus. I do suggest to get the rechargeable li-ion and charger. (I plan to get a second battery) Found that the rechargeable that comes with the dock does not work with this camera. Over all, I would recommend this camera.

5 of 5 Loving this camera Tuesday, January 29, 2008
A Customer from Outer Banks, NC
I previously owned the Kodak Easyshare P712 which was incredibly similar and after a year it broke and I bought this one. The Z812 is great. I read many reviews good and bad and I find that for a person like me taking pictures of their kids and animals it's a great choice. It takes awesome pictures and the video is good enough to look back on for years to come. The only two complaints I have which wouldn't deter me from a purchase is that 1.) It takes AA batteries and not the rechargable ones that I already had alothough I bought the rechargeable ones and a charger and 2.) when it locks in on faces and you see the image in the screen, compared with the final picture it isn't the same. There is a delay between the image on the screen and the actual picture. I've gotten used to it after a couple of days and it's not that big of a deal. I enjoy this camera and glad I have it. It was a good deal for the money and like I said for a person who wants point and shoot with some manual capabilities. Go on just get it...

5 of 5 Great Camera for the Price! Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Kate P. from Cincinnati, OH
This camera takes great pictures. The detail is amazing. The only downside I've noticed while having it for a week and a half, is that the battery that came with the camera is already almost drained.

4 of 5 Satisfied....yet? Tuesday, January 22, 2008
Paul Williams from Oakland, CA
I received the camera last week, and have not had time to use it a lot. I do believe the camera lives up to its adverstisemtn. However, I did not understand that the battery was not recharable, and it had no case. After purchasing the docking kit locally, the rechargable battery would not fit the camera, and the case barely was large enough to hold the camera. The camera should be packaged with the docking kit items at a reasonable price so that new customers will not be left disapointed with the camera purchase experience.

Simha from Melbourne,Florida
This is my first digital slr camera..bought it for an excellant price and the picture quality is good my friend keeps his canon aside and takes a picture on Kodak. The only drawback is the battery it would have been good if Kodak has given a rechargable battery with a charger..overall worth for the price

5 of 5 Excellent Camera Friday, January 18, 2008
A Customer from LaPlace, LA
Great pictures, very forgiving of mistakes. Likes: Focus modes including manual, true color and versatility. Dislikes: Documentation too sparse. For some reason they removed the ability to press the button while in auto mode to switch to macro and landscape. Does not come with rechargeable battery.

5 of 5 Nice Camera Thursday, January 17, 2008
m.lugo from Williamstown, NJ
I received this camera as a gift for Christmas. I had a budget to fall within, and I found a great price at an alternate site for about $230.00. Unfortunately, they were out of stock at the time. After some time, I went back and found an EVEN BETTER price here at buy.com. Again, they were out of stock also, (Must be a popular camera) but the price of $199.99 and about 8 bucks S&H was unbeleivable for the camera, when comparing with other cameras in its class. Very easy out of the box. Basic instructions were easy to read and decipher. Just need a little time to check out the finer details of the camera. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!1

4 of 5 pretty good for the money Thursday, January 17, 2008
Sarah Chauvin from Sidney, NY
I bought this camera about 2 weeks ago. First I had a problem finding the package, Fed-EX likes to play treasure hunt with it, even when I left them a note in plain sight as to were to leave the package. It seems like a nice camera I'm upgrading from the Kodak z740 (5 mp, 10x optical zoom). A few of my pics have come out blurry, and initially I did have problems uploading the pics to my computer, (might have been faulty USB cable), but seems like a good camera despite that. I really like that I don't have to wait a long time before taking another pic, and I love that my images are more crisp and clear. (that is when they don't come out blurry)I'm still exploring all the features, and wish that Kodak gave a better manual as far as what each feature does in relation to how the pic will come out. ( I took basic black & white and basic digital a few years back....) so for someone with no camera experience it would be hard to learn/understand in the beginning.

5 of 5 No learning curve on upgrade Thursday, January 17, 2008
Frank Nickells from Highlands Ranch CO
I recently upgraded my digital camera to the Kodak Z812 from a Kodak 4mp 3X optical camera. The old camera took great pics but the new one with 12X and 8mp will be amazing. The optics are great on the 812. There was no learning curve to pick up the new camera. It is point-n-shoot easy but you can put it into advanced features and do not need to be a great photographer. Although my photo geek thought it was terrific. I looked far and wide and couldn't beat the price even for a Z712 (preceding model). Can't wait til vacation to take pics in Tibet!

4 of 5 Great Camera for Price...video audio is horrible Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Chris from Jupiter, Florida
The camera is my first real digital camera. I've had many in cameras and other crappy things, but this one is my "true" first. For the price that buy.com sells it and its features, I found it perfect. Don't get overjoyed with the fact it is "HD Video" because if you are expecting to use it as a video camera, be warned that there are *known* issues with the audio (microphone). Just go to Google and search "Z812IS audio" and you will find discussions and even sample videos where Automatic Gain Control (AGC) has been warranted for causing the audio problems. While the audio works, the issue is its distorted and sounds muffled. Stick with a true video camera if thats what you are looking for in this camera. Enough with the video....the actual picture taking (because this is a camera!) is excellent. I find the ability to have a fully manual mode very cool for adjusting settings to your liking. However, if you have no clue what you're doing, just use the AUTO mode or one of the scene selection modes for different environments. Even at night, the flash is sufficient enough to capture about 10 to 15 feet covering an area about 120 degrees. Inside, in almost darkness, the flash can light up a whole room making it instantly "daylight" like for that picture...I'm not even joking. There is a setting where you can adjust the intensity (power) to the flash from -1 to 1 with .3 increments. All and all, the camera, especially the fact it's a mega zoom 12x, 8.1 MP, and at a very competitive price, I bought it.

5 of 5 Nice, very nice. Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Dale@thewisbeys.com from Glasco, KS.
This camera has everything I was looking for in a camera; great zoom, lots of mega pixels, a fairly close macro, image stabilization, and ease of printing using the G610 Easy Share printer. The only thing that is making the camera not perfect is the macro. Another camera I have has a macro that lets you get as close an half an inch which gives a great perspective on flowers and insects. This Kodak lets me get within 4 or 5 inches so I don't think it will be a real detraction from my overall experience with the camera, especially with the 8.1 mega pixels that I have to work with in my computers picture editing program.

4 of 5 Takes great pictures, but video has issues.. Wednesday, January 16, 2008
A Customer from New York, NY
I'd have given 5 if the video was little better. There is some kind of a loud noise that comes when you play it back both on the camera or on the computer. One of the reasons that I bought this camera was also because of the HD video. Kodak needs to fix this issue before they sell any more of these. I called them up and they asked me to send it for repair. I looked at other online forums where they complain about the same issue with the sound. Other than that, it takes great pictures.

5 of 5 GREAT DIGITAL CAMERA FOR THE PRICE. Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Larry from Amargosa Valley, NV
I have used a Kodak DC3400 for years and it has been a great little camera. I bought the Z812-IS for the extra pixels, the 12X zoom and the Image Stablization but I got so much more. Great bang for the buck at $200. You will want to get the rechargeable lithium batteries (get two), the 4 GB memory card and a camera case also. I have used it for only a few weeks, but love the results and the ease of use. You won't regret buying this one.

5 of 5 CLASSIC KODAK DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Renee R. from Irwin, PA
I began my digital photography hobby in January of 1999 with a Kodak EasyShare camera. At the time, I chose the EasyShare because of my limited technological knowledge and experience. The camera included an EasyShare Dock which made it elementary to transfer pictures to my PC and constantly keep the camera fully charged when not in use. In 2005, when ready to upgrade to a new camera with more features, I decided to remain with the Kodak EasyShare system. Once again, I was tremendously pleased. The "value" (features for the money) remained outstanding. Last month, I was not yet ready for another upgrade, but the time had come to buy my daughter a good digital camera. When I saw the features of the Kodak Z812 IS 8MP, I looked no further. It has many more features than my two-year-old model, and the $199.99 "Special Buy" price from Buy.com was unbelievable. I still can't believe the features I was able to purchase, including the amazing IMAGE STABILIZATION technology, for less than $200. I have had outstanding performance from each of my Kodak digital cameras. The easy of use is unparalleled. NOTE: I did order the optional Kodak EasyShare Camera Dock Kit, Buy.com Item 1065556, http://www.buy.com/prod/kodak-easyshare-camera-dock-kit/q/loc/111/202916946.html, for the Z812. CHECK OUT the kit. You can transfer your pictures to your computer with ease, keep your digital camera display free of smudges, and carry your camera in the handy camera bag. Plus, place the camera on the dock, and keep it charged and ready to go. I consider the Dock to be a MUST HAVE accessory!

5 of 5 Kodak Z812IS Monday, January 14, 2008
VWH from Springfield, IL
Have used the 812IS digital camera for some time and just bought a second one as a gift after I upgraded from the Kodak Z740. It's easy to use, has well placed controls, produces both excellent still and movie images. and fits the hand well. The zoom feature and large glass lens allows for good image capture even in less than ideal light conditions. It writes quickly to the SD card and internal memory, and while it's not going to fit in a typical pocket, it's light and quickly put into use when a photo opportunity arises. My only complaint is the "fill flash" option isn't available in the auto mode, but is available in all of the other modes. Zoom is available in the movie mode and adds to the attractiveness of the camera as a multiuse camera. It uses AA batteries, SD cards for memory and both of these features make it inexpensive to operate, compared to other cameras with proprietary battery and memory requirements.

I used to have a Kodak z612is and this is even better. the panoramic mode is neat but the holder of the camera MUST do his/her job of linning up the shots....pick a definate spot that you can relate to on the second and third picture. the hd video is great also...vey bright and clear. the low lighty capabilities of this camera are even better than they were on my z 612....absolutely great...I would advise if your looking for a great camera...buy the z812is.

5 of 5 This is the BEST camera I've owned! Wednesday, January 09, 2008
A Customer from Northern Coastal California
I was looking for one camera that would take excellent still photos and excellent videos. After much research, I found it in the Kodak Z812 IS. THE GOOD: 1.The 12X zoom allows framing the photo when it is taken so you don't have to crop much later. It gives you more pixels to work with later. 2. 8mp. While all the rage is 10 or 12mp now, because of the 12X lens, 8 is enough for me. 3. Although I edit all of my good photos, the photos from this camera look great without editing. 4. Although the video doesn't look as good as that from a dedicated $5000 camera, it does look very good at both 640X480 and 1280X720. Plenty good enough for my needs. 5. Price. This is the only camera I know of that takes great photos AND videos anywhere near this price range. 6. There are many other features I like about this camera, but not enough space/time to list. YOU NEED TO KNOW: 1. I purchased a battery charger and two KLIC-8000 equivalent Li-ion rechargeabe batteries because the camera doesn't come with them. 2. I purchased two 4GB SDHC class 6 (high speed) cards so I would have enough capacity to take plenty of video without having to download to the computer until I was done. 3. Both the video and audio were unusable as they came out of the camera. I downloaded Prism Video Converter (freeware) and converted from .mov (proprietary) to .mpg. Then I could download to the video editor (Ulead Video Studio 9 SE DVD - very inexpensive) where I did my edit. From here, I convert to .wma. After this, the videos play very well on all of the players I have tried and I can make DVD videos that play on my home DVD player. SUMMATION: 1. For photography, it's easy to take great photos. They come out of the camera as .jpg which is just about universal. 2. For videography, you'll need to jump through a few hoops to get good usable video, but I feel it's worth it. In all fairness, I should point out that I use a Windows XP based computer. I have heard that if you use an Apple , the videos play well right out of the camera, but I'm unfamiliar with Apple so I can't give further input. Also, the Z812 IS comes with a cord that allows you to play the videos through your TV set. In this configuration, they look great coming right out of the camera and the sound is decent.

5 of 5 Bought as gift Person Loves it Wednesday, January 09, 2008
A Customer from Bridgewater NJ
Makes a great Gift.. All I can say is the person who got it can't shout up about it. For the money the best gift I could have given. It worked with all of her old Kodak easyshare stuff...but takes amazing pictures compared to the older version. Great quality and she is far from a techie. I just know she loves it. Time will tell if it will hold up; but if it does it will be best present I ever bought someone.

4 of 5 Good in all features but bit low in image stabiliz Wednesday, January 09, 2008
A Customer from Malden, MA
Kodak Easyshare Z812 is a good camera to have more zoom as 12X. Image quality is good but stabilization is not as good as expected. You can shoot High Definition video with this camera. Size of camera is bit more. I think rechargeable battery is not supported so thats a bad thing. (I mean no charger is included for rechargeable batter.) I recommend this camera to purchase on this price.
