I upgraded from a Sony Mavica that uses floppy discs. I'd been using my Mavica for close to 6 years and never had a problem with it BUT was not happy with the picture quality printed out. I researched numerous brands of digital cameras and settled on the Kodak Easyshare w/docking station. At the time of my camera purchase, I also purchased an extra battery and a 512mb SD card. I am extremely happy with the photos taken on this camera. I do alot of scrapbooking and wanted my digital pics to look like 35mm film. This camera did that for me along with my Canon I900d photo printer. This camera is alot more compact than my Mavica and alot lighter and photos taken in close up mode (i/e flowers) are spectacular! I HIGHLY recommend this camera and have already told my sis that her next camera should be this one which she's agreed to buy when she has the funds. Anyone I know looking for a good digital will get this camera's recommendation from me. Was this review helpful?

This is one of the best cameras anyone could ever buy. So easy to use, it'll make you want to take it everywhere. I sure do! The camera's ready right out of the box. The pictures come out wonderful and the battery life is great. Only a few minor flaws (no image stabilization on extreme close-ups and the auto-focus makes you wait sometimes before you can snap the picture) but they do not transfer onto the pictures. Even with the jittery close-ups(when you use the digital zoom @ it's max) the pictures come out clear. With the auto-focus problems you just have to wait for the green light when the camera's ready. All-in-all you cannot go wrong with this camera. It, as with any new piece of equipment, takes time and practice to learn how to use it (to get the full advantage of its features). So just practice, practice, practice!!!! I took some pictures of my son in the park playing...they almost look like I hired a professional and I only have had the camera since December 2003. I would recommend this camera from the beginner to the enthusiast. It's worth the price just for the zoom and manual controls it offers. Was this review helpful?

this dx6490 is the finest and easiest camera ive ever used' and i must say the 10x optical is super.and at my age i need to prop up the camera to make it steady. pictures are surperb when i do my part.and read the manual! you cant go wrong with this camera. Was this review helpful?
