I normally don't write reviews. In this case, I am making an exception. I just unwittingly laundered my flash drive. And it still works perfectly. The Kingston DT mini slim is an easy-to-carry flash drive with plenty of storage space and is tough enough to withstand the accidental trip through the washer and dryer. For the money, how can you beat that?

Generally one time use is left to items like styrofoam cups, napkins, etc. I'm pretty sure thumb drives fall outside that category. However, my Kingston 8GB DataTraveler Mini Slim USB 2.0 Flash Drive - DTMS/8GB worked exactly one time, then died. Tried it on several different computers. None recognized it. No power indicator. Nothing. Just a chunk of plastic. Won't buy this brand again.

I have been carrying my Kingston 8GB DataTraveler Mini Slim Flash Drive for over a month now. I love its size and speed. It works very well. At least it did till a few days ago. I discovered that the casing was coming apart at the seams. It was also coming apart at the post (the USB end point). The mullions between the contacts broke away. I have been relegated to leaving it in my PC to ensure that it will continue to work. I will be searching for a similar size device in a much more robust form factor. If you do plan to carry in your pocket, then it is the perfect USB device.

I had to reformat this drive for MAC, and it now mounts to my desktop immediately upon plugging it in. It seems to read and write faster than my other USB flash drives which are a little older. And its so small– my only concern is that i might lose it.

This little guy sits in my car attached to the in-car MP3 player and it works just as it should. The transfer rate was fantastic and it had plenty of space for a large assortment of music (or any other files I would have wanted to put on it). It's tiny enough to get lost easily, I suppose. That hasn't been a problem for me yet. I would recommend this company and this product to others, without a doubt.

This item is great. Well, compared to my old USBs which were quite large. I carried around two of them, 512mb and 1gig. So, a change to 1 8gig was definitely good. Even better is that it weighs near nothing. I would definitely suggest this to anyone. However, I'm afraid it might get damaged, since there is no cap and it's so small and light, so I put it in a little pouch. I may think of something else to put it in later.

If you are planning on just tossing it in a backpack or just are rough with your stuff, this may not be for you. I have a cell phone case with small stretch side panels that can hold this flash memory; since it does not have any protection for the tip it can get dirty and you have to clean the recessed contacts. For me, it's perfect... I'm never too far away from my 8gb -7.46gb formatted
