Kingston 8GB DataTraveler 101 USB Flash Drive (Cyan)

I have a 2GB and 4GB Data Traveler 101, that have Secure Traveler. I thought I was upgrading with this 8GB, but found out this drive does not have any security software to protect the data and does not support Secure Traveler. Tech support said they had to ditch the software because of the size.

The flash drive has performed as advertised. Just plug in and drive is recognized by the computer. It is amazing how much a 8 GB flash drive will hold.

My Kingston Data Travelers just seem to get too small, necessitating a new one. The 8GB one seems adequate for now. Physically, each new one is smaller than the previous one. I am not sure if it is supposed to have a password-protected partition or not. I haven't been able to find it. However, it works flawlessly for a permanently plugged in repository for backups. Price and delivery from Buy.com was excellent, as usual.

I've saved pictures, videos, and large files to this flash drive from my Mac. It's super fast. It's a great transporter/backup for my Masters Project. No regrets buying this useful tool.

I use it in my truck, I fill it up with 8 gb of MP3s and I don't need cds anymore.

Holds all my music and pics. Easy to use, just plug in and youre all set. also love the color and kingston is a good brand to get for these. bought a different kingston flash drive and haven't had any problems with that one either. with the free shipping comes in a week. would recommend this product to others...

I use this thing EVERY day and it hasn't failed me. The metal protector thing is great for keeping the USB connector safe in my pocket, and since it's attached, you won't lose it!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Bought this thumbdrive to help transfer large files from an old computer to a new one. The 8GB size allowed me to load all of the data files (MyDocuments, MyMusic, e-mail profiles and mail files, etc.) onto one device, making it much easier and faster to transfer the files to the new computer's hard drive. Like all of the numerous products purchased from Buy.com, the thumbdrive arrived quickly and well packaged.

The Kingston 8Gig DataTraveler 101 is a neat little thumbdrive. It has an easy to use security feature which lets you format an area of the drive to contain encrypted files while it allows the rest of the drive to remain public. This program works smoothly and seems to be quite secure. By virtue of the fact that many people lose the caps to their thumbdrive, it is refreshing to have a swivel which eliminates the need for a cap. My only "complaint" is that the swivel feature is a bit looser than I would prefer. For $14 and change it was quite a good deal

I love the Kingston cyan colored 8GB flash card. Easy to use, love the protective attached cover, and color makes it easy to find. You can't go wrong with so much back up space in a tiny flash card! This is a great deal on a quality name brand.

This plug n play produck is all what they say about it. I love the secure password area where I can store sensitive files and not wory about an office spy trying to get information they shouldn't have. It allowd me to set how much memory to utilize on the secure area. One thing that bothers me is the way the USB plug is not well covered and protected from forign matter while it is stored in my pocket.

I've had several flash drives since flash drives had come on the market, and by far this is the best I've ever had. 1. Capacity: 8Gb capacity is huge! I love the storage space on this drive. It never seems to fill up! 2. Security: Built in security software for creating a privacy zone. This zone only appears when a password is entered. Very easy to use, and to set up. When no password is entered, the private files don't even appear on the drive. Awesome feature. 3. Size: The compact size of this flash drive is very small. When plugged into my laptop, it doesn't stick out too far. I also like that the cap swivels so that you will never lose it. It is also detachable if you don't like it. 4. Speed: The transfer speed is quick. Large files transfer with ease. Overall, this is a fantastic flash drive. For the price, it's pretty unbeatable. Unless in the future a 16Gb comes out for the same price. Highly recommend this flash drive

I use the 8GB to back up confidential data that I am required at times to travel with. I love the privacy zone part of the device that blocks access without a proper code. Only wish the device had a locking mechanism that stops it from swiveling out from the metal cover that protects it. I currently use a rubber band to hold it in place, but I am going to just take the cap off an old flash drive to cap it.

Great product. Great price. The only thing is the usb is not protected very well a thin metal cover that swings over the connector while not in use. Definately not somethign to be able to keep freely in my handbag, but 8G.. for 15.00 cant beat it.

I am pleased with the product. It has excellent storage capacity, and is quick and easy to use. The color is key, because when I drop it off for others to download onto, I don't have to worry whether I am getting my own back! The swivel is a bit loose for my liking, otherwise it is all I could ask for!

I got this 8GB thumb drive for $13.55 with free shipping on this very site. It works great and carries all the data I need. Got another one for my dad. It could be slightly more attractive but I don't judge something like this based on looks. One warning, if you have a file open on the drive, make sure you close it before you pull the drive out. I left a notepad file (.txt) open, pulled out the thumbdrive, put it back in the next day, and tried to save the notepad file. I got the blue screen of death. Not pretty.

This USB drive is very compact and the only moving part is the swivel cover. Nothing to retract, no caps to lose. Worked right after the PC recognized it, and transfer speeds was great. 800MB file in less than two minutes.

I ordered the Kingston 8 GB Flash for a specific task on my Laptop. To handle my storage and transfer of sensitive data from my Desk Top and have it Password protected. The price and free shipping was a bonus and probably made me order it faster. I have no reason to look any further. I felt this was the best deal around. So far it is performing to my expectations. I'm very pleased with the product, service and BuyCom.

I've owned several flash drives over the years and this one hands down is my favorite. Not only is it compact, but has a simple and sleek design to it. It has the option for a lanyard (but none standard which is my only gripe). It also doesn't come pre-loaded with the U3 system which is a nice plus for a straight-forward drive. It's also a huge plus that its listed at 8 GB drive so you can put just about anything and everything on one drive. All this plus the fact that I got it for under $20 with shipping makes this one of the best buys I've had all year.

Its an excellent product for the price. Works as expected and meets all my expectations. I specially liked the capless swivel design, no more searching for the caps around the desk and on the floor. I am pleased with this desing.

bought 8 of these as Christmas gifts for co-workers. Bought one for me too. Great price with free shipping. Works exactly as anticipated - I even like the swivel cover; no more missing or lost caps and its easier to use than the retractable versions availabe from OEM's. Would be perfect if lanyard was included, but I still give it 5 stars.

This drive does everything I need it to do. It's fast, has 8GB of storage, and includes free encryption (Windows only). For the price, it's hard to do better.

Item works really well and allows you to transfer photos and files to it with ease. It did lock up one time and then made it impossible to access the files stored on it. I had to erase everything on it and reload all the photos and files.
