I bought this dual kit for $4 (after rebate) a year ago and both drives work very well. Unfortunately, I crushed one of them at work when I accidentally stepped down on it (computer case is on floor). Even though the casing was cracked, it still works! I'll have to order a new one, but thankfully the data is still intact to be transferred even though the case is cracked open. I definitely am impressed by the durability of this drive. Value for money. I know friends who have bought 256MB for $30. But I got this product for ($...)(after rebate) from buy.com. Initially I was not sure if I would get the rebate back. This is the first time I tried mail-in-rebate and it worked for me. I am happy with the product performance and with buy.com and kingston. The 2-pack of Kingston DataTraveler 1GB USB drives is an incredible value.
As far as the hardware goes, both units been working nicely for me so far. My only complaints are:
-The cap comes off a bit too easily.
-I usually receive a message about the device not receiving enough power from unpowered USB hubs, e.g. the extra USB port included on an Apple Pro Keyboard. When plugged into a powered hub or directly into a computer, they work fine. Was this review helpful?

These flashdrives are good for daily use, enough to store big files. There are not the fastest drive on the market but good enough for business or school. There are not the smallest nor the biggest drives either, I wish there were little bit smaller but for the price, who cares. If you plan using them for Vista Readyboost, I suggest you go with faster flashdrives.

Works great on my XP. My Win 98SE does not recognize it. The software download for WIN 98SE does not work. Kingston does not support WIN 98SE anymore. Their recommendation is to download a different installer, then UNINSTALL my scanner and Easy CD Creator. Then try reinstalling the software from Kingston and "IF" it works I can reinstall my scanner and Easy CD Creator. I don't think so.... Not really worth the effort. Was this review helpful?

Compared to my other USB drives (made by SanDisk and Connect3D) the data transfer rate on these is simply horrible. To copy over the full 1GB takes about 6 minutes while on my other drives it takes about 1 minute. In other words, it's not worth your money when there are faster ones out there for similar prices.

I now have 2 Kingston 2GB flash drives and 2 of the 1 GB flash drives. I've never had a problem retrieving data from any of the flash drives. I am a lawyer and have my own law practice, so I needed to ability to transport files from one computer to another quickly and easily and found the Kingston flash drives to be ideal for that.
