What can I say about memory? Once it goes into the box, you never see it working, but you can tell when it isn't! The Kingston cards fit the slots designated for them and have been rolling along smoothly since I popped them in. My computer is a bit zippier with the extra gigabyte, so this is an ending made in Hollywood! Like my other buying experiences at Buy.com, what I received was just what was promised. I ordered two Kingston 1GB PC3200 184-pin DIMM units for my daughter's computer. I took less than five minutes to pop them in, reconnect the peripherals, and fire up the old machine which has been limited to 512MB. The machine booted up beautifully, recognized the additional memory, and now runs like a top. I try to use Kingston memory exclusively for my computers, my cameras, and for transporting files, because it always works great... even when you send a memory stick through the washer and dryer (not recommended). I can't tell you how long I have lived with slow downloads. Just turning on the computer was a loooonnnngggg wait, so I never wanted to turn it off. I have DSL with AOL and Yahoo and either one took forever to open.
This product was easy to install(if I can anybody can), and the results are so wonderful, I wish I would have did this looonnnggg ago. The price was fantastic as I had shopped around and thought for the money this was the way to go. I will certainly check out any future needs on Buy.com Was this review helpful?

I had to upgrade my BIOS in order to have it work well with the 1 GB DIMM. The machine would work for 5 ~ 10 min then power cycle itself. The BIOS updated resolved the issue. Every runs much better with more RAM. Was this review helpful?

It's hard to review memory because it's kind of a binary thing--either it works right or it doesn't. This works as expected. I paid a couple dollars more to get Kingston, a brand I trust. I've put a couple of these in a machine at work--I figured 2GB would silence a guy who was complaining--and I just put one in my wife's machine.
On the subject of what difference you'll see: I asked my wife if her machine was noticeably faster, going from 256M to 1G. At first, on a day when she just was browsing the web and reading email, she said no. But the next day she called me at work to say the difference was amazing when she was doing a layout with MS Publisher. So in general, I figure if you have a lot of photos open at once, be it in desktop publishing, Powerpoint, or whatever, you'll see a big difference--great value for the price.

I was about to buy a PC2700-rated module (slower), which is all my wife's computer needed, but the PC3200 version was actually less expensive so I bought this instead. It works perfectly. That's probably enough said, as I can't do any high level testing. System recognized it and started using it. Computer sped up dramatically with this upgrade. No more mouse clicks missed while the computer is r/w to virtual memory. Was this review helpful?
