Highlights include Christina Milan's bouncy "Call Me, Beep Me! (The Kim Possible Song)," LMNT's "It's Just You," and Angela Michael's "I'm Ready." Michael duets with Aaron Carter on "Get Up on Ya Feet," a musical sugar buzz that will probably be popular with kids but less so with adults. Likewise, Jump5's cover of Kool & the Gang's "Celebration" might also make parents cringe, but for the most part, the album isn't too cloying or annoying for adult ears. Brassy's "Work It Out," the Cooler Kids' "E Is for Everybody," and Smash Mouth's "Come On Come On" add a slightly more grown-up and hip edge to the album, while "The Naked Mole Rap" -- a song about Rufus the mole, the hairless pet of Kim Possible's sidekick, Ron Stoppable -- plays to the show's hardcore fans. Overall, Kim Possible doesn't quite capture the fun of the series, but it's still a better than average children's soundtrack. ~ Heather Phares | | For those unacquainted with Disney's successful foray into television, KIM POSSIBLE is an animated series that depicts the adventures of a crime-fighting teenage girl with plenty of spunk. Appropriately, the KIM POSSIBLE soundtrack album is aimed squarely at the same kid-friendly market that is the show's main fanbase. This translates into songs by groups made up of youngsters (pop idol Aaron Carter, kid bands Jump5 and A*Teens) as well as those that simply appeal to the adolescent set (the irrepressible Smash Mouth). The music is a peppy mix of pop, light rock, and R&B, brimming with hooks and the requisite amount of youthful energy. |
