The mouse is great. Scrolling with the ball is a really great feature - roll normally to use as a mouse, rotate to scroll. BRILLIANT! However, in terms of functionality, Kensington failed. Their previous mice came with a driver package that allowed the user to program the buttons to do all sorts of different things. This mouse has one set of functionality if you install the driver, and that's it. The media mode (controls play/pause, skip, and volume) is neat, but really, that's IT?!?
Come on Kensington - you can do better.
I'm seriously thinking of going back to a regular expert mouse to get the functionality I want. Was this review helpful?

I'm a trackball man, can't live without them. As an expert mouse trackball user, I can tell you it will take a day or two to adjust, but after the adjustment its incredible. I could control my music with one click. I could enjoy my photoshop with one click. It so comfortable for the hand that it feels like your just making it move with no movement at all and the scroll is incredible. If you love trackballs you will love this. If your new to trackballs you'll never go back to a mouse.
Just make sure you give it enough time to adjust its a little different. Was this review helpful?

I'm a long time trackball user and have tried every one out there. When I saw this design I thought this would be the ultimate in beauty and functionality. The unit is a work of art, and the ergonomics are great. The best part is the smooth fluid and accurate motion of the ball. So that's the best part, the worst is that Kensington has preprogrammed the buttons and they say they do not plan on a software upgrade to make the buttons do anything other than to use for music and pictures. This I think was a major mistake as so many users could use those other buttons to make their daily use of programs easier than the use of only 2 buttons. So if that's important to you I'd look elsewhere, or hope Kensington comes out with another model like this one that you can configure the buttons to your personal needs. Other than that it is the best mechanically I've ever used. Was this review helpful?
