| | | Features: DVD Bursting with an array of kinetic storytelling devices, the one-hour action dramedy Keen Eddie brings feature film styles and sensibilities to the escapades of down-on-his-luck New York detective Eddie Arlette (Mark Valley) as he takes a job in London. There, he's partnered up with a straight-laced bunch at Scotland Yard who alternately clash with and admire his brash ways. On the home front, he saddles with a sexy roommate, Fiona (Sienna Miller) who regards the flat as her own, and treats Eddie with unflagging disdain. Yet, wending his way through the streets, pubs, sires and clubs of London gives Eddie insights--and not just on a city he's growing to learn--but on his life, and a hopefully more enlightening path.
 Editor's Note
When New York City cop Eddie Arlette (Mark Valley) bungles an important drug bust based on faulty info from a mysterious brunette, his boss ships him off to England to track down the woman and prevent the spread of a deadly new drug. Once in London, the brash New Yorker immediately clashes with his reserved British colleagues at Scotland Yard, which include the prim and proper Superintendent Nathanial Johnson (Colin Salmon) and eccentric detective Monty Pippin (Julian Rhind-Tutt), who enjoys frequenting married swingers' clubs. On the housing front, Eddie is forced to share a flat with his landlord's daughter Fiona Bickerton (Sienna Miller), whose hostility to her new American roommate is only aggravated by his overly-enthusiastic dog Pete. A charming hybrid of fish-out-of-water comedy and police-procedural crime drama, Keen Eddie is a fresh and engaging television series cut short by premature cancellation. This 4-volume set includes all 13 episodes from the series' first and only season.

5 of 5 So good, it got cancelled Thursday, December 09, 2004 Matt from Ames, IA
I absolutely love this show. I didn't even know it originated on FOX, as I didn't see it until a couple of months ago on Bravo. That just shows you how well FOX promoted it. Apparently, they focussed the promotion on the the people who watch stupid reality shows and not those of us who like good TV.
After watching just one episode, I was hooked and bought the DVD's without seeing anymore of the show. Keen Eddie is a great blend of drama and comedy with some action and stylistic filming. The show has wacky, fantasy moments akin to a David E. Kelly show like Ally McBeal, but without being annoying. It never gets old, and Eddie is just plain cool. I watched all 13 episodes (9 1/2 hours) in about two days and am very disappointed there are not anymore out there. One can hope the DVD's will sell well and show there is a good fan base to build on. Check it out. Was this review helpful?
