5 of 5 Home Theater on a Budget Monday, May 11, 2009
Brian from Harrisburg, PA

These speakers are great for a home theater on a budget. I already had a Sony 7.1 channel surround sound receiver, but I was using spare speakers to get the surround, and I had a subwoofer "rigged up." It was time to get a complete set. The subwoofer delivers respectable low freq content where needed, and the surrounds get the job done. Plus, my wife likes the small size of the surrounds! Everybody wins! I still needed to use a spare speaker for the center (Voice), but that is fine.

5 of 5 Awesome for the price! Tuesday, April 21, 2009
Helicopter from Summersville, WV
I bought this speaker system because of the price. I thought it would be worth $50 just for the sub but when I hooked up the other speakers i was surprised! This system is well worth the money if you are not planing on spending a ton of money on your home theater system.

5 of 5 Very very nice! Monday, April 20, 2009
Joel from Duncanville, Tx
I never thought that I would get this kind of sound from this set of speakers but I went ahead and took a chance. I was really surprised at the performance. They work well with music also. Best fifty dollar set of speakers I've ever owned.

5 of 5 Great Value Saturday, April 18, 2009
WC from PA
$50... Ok, they aren't studio monitors but that number would be $5000. Set them up right and you will be pleasantly surprised. I wish I had more places to use them.

4 of 5 Excellent value low end speaker. Monday, April 13, 2009
A Customer from NJ
The speakers are what I expected for $50 dollars. They come with the speaker wire in different lengths which is a value in itself. The sensitivity is low at 85 db. so you need to raise the volume higher than a 90 db speaker. So you need a decent amplifier. The crossover frequency is 200 hz. which causes the vocal frequencies to come from the woffer, so you need to put it near the front speakers or the voice comes from the side or back. The woffer is a bit muddy in its delivery. The satelite speakers are crisp and clean. But over all for $50 it is a great low end speaker, easy to set up.

3 of 5 Nice set for the money Sunday, April 05, 2009
A Customer from Nampa, ID
I saw this, and thought the price was right. I bought it, and was pleasantly surprised. It worked very well, except one of the satellite speakers was dead. I contacted Buy.com, and was told to contact JVC. BAD idea. JVC hasn't responded in over a week and a half. Overall, they work fine, except for the dead one. And, you can't find just one anywhere.

5 of 5 JVC is the best! Tuesday, March 24, 2009
BC from Detroit
I bought the JVC 5.1 speaker system because I have a 5.1 JVC receiver hooked up to my home theater. This has been the best learning experience because I had to replace older systems with the JVC. It was the best decision I could have made because everything blended in perfectly and easily. There were no problems at all and the sound is spectacular.

5 of 5 Not Bad Monday, March 23, 2009
Troy from Phoenix, AZ
I'm not an expert but these speakers sound pretty darn good. I'm happy with them and feel I got a pretty good deal. I ordered these on a Sunday evening and had them at my doorstep Tuesday afternoon! Now that's fast shipping! They arrived in PERFECT condition.

5 of 5 An Excellent Value Monday, March 23, 2009
FJ from Silver Spring, MD
For the money, this speaker system has proven to be an excellent value. It has the performance of considerably more expensive systems that I've evaluated in the showrooms. I'm using them with a Denon AVR-688 amp.

5 of 5 I would buy these again Sunday, March 15, 2009
Chavez from Hanson, KY
I needed a powered Sub woofer for my new receiver and I didn't want to spend too much money. For the money I paid I am extremely satisfied with my buy. I didn't plan on using the satellite speakers but after trying them out I used them as well.

5 of 5 Excellent price/performance ratio Saturday, March 07, 2009
Link from Houston TX
I purchased this speaker set to go with a JVC ARV 7.1 system in my TV room and must say that I'm very happy with the performance that the fifty dollar kit delivered. The satellite speakers sound crisp and clear and the sub responds well. My only issue is that the sub does not perform well at low volumes and also the bass response could have been deeper. It's still a fantastic buy.

5 of 5 Powered Sub is worth the price alone! Tuesday, February 24, 2009
ARZ333 from Prescott Valley, AZ
I ordered late on a Tuesday and received on Thursday. Like others have said the speakers are not very high end, but not bad for surround speakers. The value is in the powered sub. Definitely worth the cost alone, the sub quality is that of a higher priced speaker set. I added the sub to my Sony 7.1 system and it has no problems rattling the windows when I am playing video games, or listening to music.

5 of 5 Great value - not the best at lower volumes Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Setup easy with Sony Receiver. Work well with Vuepoint speaker stands. Low levels are not the best, but sound good when turned up!

5 of 5 Great deal for the subwoofer Saturday, February 14, 2009
A Customer from Owings, MD
I got this just for the subwoofer because I haven't seen any for under $90. It sounds awesome. I'm using it with a jvc rx5060 receiver. I've listened to a few different types of music, watched tv and a movie. I tried some jazz and rock and you can really hear the bass parts. I watched the dark kight and the explosions and other sound effects were very lively. However, there was one scene in a club with loud music and it sounded kind of muddy. I haven't tried the surround speakers. It came with plenty of speaker wire and rca cable to connect the subwoofer. I got it with free shipping and it came in two days. (shipped from chicago). I highly recommend this product.

5 of 5 Great value and it doesn't get much easier. Sunday, February 01, 2009
Rberd from Chandler, AZ
Ordered on Tuesday, recieved it on Thursday. Girlfriend had a decent used reciever and I didn't want to spend a large wad of cash. I spent more on extra speaker wire than I did on the speakers! (It comes with 100' of 20guage and I wanted to upgrade to #14). Exactly what I needed.

4 of 5 Inexpensive but good for the money spent. Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Stever from Clinton TN
Surround sound speakers with a 100 watt powered subwoofer? For less than a hundred bucks? Go figure. Unless you're wanting to clean the cobwebs in the attic, the subwoofer alone is worth the cost of the entire setup. With almost every thing I listened to, turning the volume on the sub down just a notch from full volume made for a very decent sound. It adds a nice rumble, it'll give a nice punch to bass lines in music, it's a decent kablooie when things in a movie go kablooie. This setup is from JVC. I own quite a bit of JVC gear, including a TV set that's 16 years old and looks as good now as it did new. JVC gear holds up, it's decent construction. For under 100 bucks, you get a decent set of speakers with a powered sub. The closest thing you'll find at this price is Coby, usually sold at wallyworld, and those sound horrible, and they're twice the price. Bottom line- this isn't high end by any means. If you're a casual movie watcher, this will do a decent job. Oh- one thing I'll pass along to you. You can use this subwoofer on your system even if you don't have a subwoofer out. DO NOT attempt to run wire from your speaker output to this thing, it'll destroy it. On your receiver, or DVD player, buy a Y splitter, and split one channel and send it to the subwoofer, and send the other part to the receiver as usual. The Y splitter you need is an RCA type splitter- one male, two female. The kid at Radio Shack can set you up with just that info. Subwoofers aren't directional, they don't care which channel they're using, and usually, sub sonics are encoded in both channels. All in all, for under a hundred bucks, you can't go wrong. Even if you buy it for the subwoofer and toss the other speakers away, it's a steal. If you've got a computer with surround sound output on your audio card, with a small 5.1 amp, it'd make a decent addition to game play.

5 of 5 Great surround set for the price Monday, November 17, 2008
A Customer from South River, NJ
The headline says it all. I just added this set in with my 7.1 and it sounds amazing. I mainly needed 2 of the satellites as sides and a second subwoofer and couldn't be happier with it. The subwoofer adds plenty of floor-shaking bass, and the small satellite speakers produce great quality sound. Was very pleased.

4 of 5 Good Subwoofer Friday, October 31, 2008
Ismael from Hesperia,CA
I actually bought these for the sub woofer. I already had a set of home theater satellites and center speakers hooked up to my PC through a receiver. The satellites in this set sound tinny and not that good, but the sub did the job. It gives my setup that needed thump I was missing. The sub alone is worth the money. The bass actually rattles the floor and is felt throughout the hall way. But not so much that it would disrupt the entire house. The satellites I saved for a later day. Maybe I'll hook it up for the kids room. If you're looking for a budget system, this is it.

5 of 5 Awesome speakers!!! Excellent price value, too! Sunday, August 17, 2008
Richard Brown from Sacramento, CA
I installed these speakers on a used JVC 5.1 500-watt surround sound receiver and I couldn't be happier with the setup. For under $100 I have an awesome sounding surround sound system that takes full advantage of my digital cable's audio and makes my Xbox 360 games sound incredible! I've had 3 other 5.1 surround systems (Lasonic, Panasonic and Frisbee) and I must say that the JVC setup is the best. The sound is crisp and clear, no static, no annoying popping sound from the speakers when the receiver is turned on (like my old systems). The subwoofer is powered, not passive, and also has a volume control on the back. The subwoofer sound...man, no distortion! None, unlike my previous systems. These speakers are the bomb. Pros: Satellite speakers are small, but not that small - Speakers have keyhole mounts on the back - Extra long speaker wires for all but 1 speaker - Very inexpensive for quality sound - $47 with free shipping? Awesome! - Cons: Center speaker wire is the only short wire. Probably only 8 feet long, while the rest are 12ft for the front; 30 ft for the rear. - Overall, this was an excellent buy! I am extremely happy with these speakers.

5 of 5 Got what I paid for Wednesday, August 13, 2008
Mike from Sterling, MA
5.1 sound for $50 delivered? How can you go wrong? You're certainly not going to be blown away by the sound, but each speaker works fine and that's all I hoped for. This was only for playing Xbox in the office (as opposed to main home theater) so why pay hundreds of dollars for speakers? These work fine with a cheap receiver for the Xbox, TV, and computer.

4 of 5 Good for the budget Buyer Thursday, July 31, 2008
praetorrian from Tyler, Tx
These speakers are not bad for what little bit of cash is being spent. If you are looking to prove to your audiophile friends you can out do them for less you will be disappointed when you set these up. They are not top notch but they are good. You always get what you pay for in electronics.

5 of 5 $60 dollar speakers ;} Thursday, July 17, 2008
dirtsurfer650 from Atlanta, GA
Great investment for the family who doesn't want to spend tons of money to hear every bullet whiz buy their head. Works as advertised, sounds good enough for the average movie watcher/ mp3 music listener. My only complaint is the center channel speaker is the same small speaker as the r/l channel speakers.

5 of 5 I was skeptical Monday, April 28, 2008
Albert from Milwaukee, WI
I was skeptical. I could no speakers for my home audio in the stores for less than $150 and less expensive home theater speakers on-lne looked underpowered and not of high quality. For a lark (what did I have to lose?) I tried Buy.com and found this excellent set of JVC speakers. I'm not an audiophile, but I know what I like when I hear my 5 speakers and awesome subwoofer bring explosions and concerts to life. Count me in as surprised and content.
