HD/SD Dual Format Recording

Record in AVCHD Full HD* if you want to watch the results on an HDTV or burn 1280 x 720 resolution videos to a Blu-ray disc or DVD. In addition you can record in Standard Definition to edit 720 x 480 resolution videos for longer recording times, burn to standard DVD and share with people who haven't upgraded to HDTV yet. Remember, HD for higher quality recordings or SD for broad compatibility and longer recording time -- with the GZ-HM450 the choice is yours.

Advanced Image Stabilizer

Camera-shake compensation is another important camcorder feature. The GZ-HM440's Advanced Image Stabilizer (A.I.S.) expands the effective area at wide angle to deliver powerful compensation for camera shake. With the GZ-HM450, you can enjoy stable results even if you're trotting alongside your subject.

2-Way Grip Belt

The newly designed belt works two ways - as a standard grip belt or a convenient wrist strap. You can choose which way to best match your shooting style or carrying preference.

Time-Lapse REC

Time-Lapse REC records one frame at a time at set intervals (1sec.–80sec.). So you can watch movement that's hours long in just a few seconds when played back. It's great when you want to observe an event that takes place over a long period of time or to record unique-looking scenes in a creative way.

Auto REC

When a subject enters the camcorder's detecting area and the luminance changes, recording starts automatically. Recording continues as long as there is movement within the area and automatically stops after 5 seconds of no movement. Use the GZ-HM450like a surveillance camera or to record events unattended. We're sure you'll discover new ways to use this feature.

Smile Meter

Just say cheese! The Smile Meter keeps an eye on how much your subjects are smiling, giving you a % display. With Smile Shot, the GZ-HM450 automatically takes a picture (in video mode) every time the smile % reaches a certain level. It's a great way to take group shots filled with smiling faces.

Animation Effect

Choose the theme, and the camcorder automatically spices up your footage with animated fun graphics and effects while you record. Add an extra touch to make your memories look extra special.

Face Sub-Window

Touch on a face on the GZ-HM450's LCD screen, and that face is automatically shown enlarged in a corner of the screen. So you can record both a group shot and a close-up of someone at the same time!
