4 of 5 Impressive noice-canceling Thursday, October 29, 2009 John from Philadelphia, PA
I bought the product mainly for use at work, where it can be very noisy and I need to concentrate often. I sit near some climate-control equipment that kicks on every so often, and is loud enough to be bothersome. These headphones do a fantastic job on it. Occasionally when I am listening to music it will activate without my even realizing it. It's an amazing experience putting these things on and hitting the "on" switch. Anything you might call "white" noise is pretty much switched off. They don't do as good a job, of course, on voices. You can still make out what people are saying, but they sound tinny, like they are at the end of a hall, which does make them a bit less intrusive. I haven't used the more expensive Bose model, but I can't imagine it being much better than these. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Kind of OK Tuesday, July 28, 2009 A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
This is an OK product. Does cancels out constant "hissssss" noise to 65-70% on the plane, not completely though. Other noises like people talking are not reduced at all to a noticeable differece. I bought them after reading all the reviews and am surprised how people have given reviews that they were not able to hear any noise from small children. It really doesn't cancels out people noise, only constant "hisssssssssss" noise is canceled out, that too not completely. Bass and sound quality is good. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Amazing!!! Monday, June 08, 2009 A Customer from Charlotte, NC
I've never been so pleased with an electronics purchase as I have been with these headphones. I was on a 5 1/2 hour trip to San Franciso seated in the same aisle as a family with 3 young children. The youngest believed that the trip was the perfect time to see if she could sustain a major temper-tantrum for 5+ hours. I didn't know a 3 year old could be so loud or have such stamina. These headphones were AMAZING - once I had them on, the little girl could have been rooms away with the doors closed. As for the airplane noise - totally gone...and I was seated in nearly the last row = usually very noisy.
Others on the flight asked me how I did it....survived being seated near the girl...thank goodness for my JVC Noise Cancelling Headphones.
I highly recommend them!!!!! Was this review helpful?

Overall, I am happy with my purchase, though the unit is somewhat pricey. I consider myself an audiophile. I have listened to bose headphones and I can say that JVC headphones are a much better value--they are priced less and sound better.
The Pros:- lightweight and removable cord;comes with a convenient hardshell case, a 1/4" plug as well as an airline compatible plug; Solid lows with warm mids and highs. The bass is very realistic and punchy-it does not drown out the mids and highs. The Cons:-The right earcup has to be removed to replace the battery--I knew this before buying the unit so this is not such a big deal. This is the only con, otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Over Rated Thursday, January 15, 2009 Mr. Dissapointed from CT
Not sure, how these headphones can be rated so highly?? They look great, but they really don't do much in terms of noise cancellation and the fit is terrible. They don't sit firmly on your ears. Very uncomfortable! Sorry, but I returned them...I get much better sound and noise isolation from a basic pair of Skull Candy Ink'd Ear buds that I paid $10 for. Was this review helpful?

I was confused between these and the Bose QC 2/3. After buying the JVC, I compared these to my roommate’s Bose QC3. Frankly, I couldn’t make out the difference the two other than QC3 being more comfortable to wear. Recently, I also used my JVC’s on an 18 hour flight with no problems. The only drawback I found was that they don’t exactly fit over the ear which decreases the comfort level. Conclusion: I wouldn’t pay the extra $200/250 for a Bose. Was this review helpful?

I tried both JVC and Bose and Believe me I can not tell the difference except for the price. Was this review helpful?

These really work. Comes with a nice case. Just wish it had the retracting cable like earlier models; but the noise canceling feature is even better than previous models. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Headphone Sunday, June 15, 2008 A Customer from Dallas, TX
I am a road warrior owned several noise cancellation headphones. This is by far the best headphone. In my opinion, the performance is on par if not better vs. the Bose headphone which cost 2-3 times as much. Very happy with it. Was this review helpful?

I love these headphones. They work wonderful and my wife was standing right next to me talking and couldn't hear a thing. Absolutley wonderful. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 very good value, but... Sunday, March 02, 2008 ms13 from Lebanon, IN
I found the jack difficult to plug into the headphones in order to listen to my IPOD, and it kept wanting to slip loose. Other than that, the headphones work nicely and they are far less expensive than Bose. Was this review helpful?

I was not sure what to expect, but as soon as I flipped the power switch to on all of the ambient noise in my house was gone! Noises that you don't usually even notice because you are used to like my refrigerator... gone! The sound quality of the music is amazing with Christal clear sound and thundering bass. I am impressed for the price! Was this review helpful?

These headphones perform extremely well! I'm an audiophile, composer, and musician, so good sound quality, comfort, and noise reduction are very important to me.

One reviewer reported there was some very low level static in the headphones. I want to qualify their statement. The static is only present when the headphones are plugged into a headphone jack that is not impedence matched to the headphones and the noise reduction circuit is turn on. In other words, you may or may not hear this static depending on the sound source. I plugged the phones into my computer headphone jack (I have a Sound Blaster Audigy2ZX) and I DO hear the static. It is fairly quite but audible during quiet musical passages. If the music has a fairly high average volume then you will NOT hear the static. I also plugged the phones into my MP3 player and DID NOT hear any static. Which means the phones are better matched to your typical MP3 player.

For the $115 I paid for the phones I feel they perform extremely well. The noise reduction is very very good with or without music piped into them. I live near a pretty busy street and with the increase in younger people thinking their car isn't cool unless it makes a bunch of noise via exhaust or loud subwoofers it can get somewhat noisy in my studio. When I'm writing music I need to concentrate on the music not the noise outside. With these phones, the only outside sound I can hear is the tire noise on the street. All the lower frequency noises are pretty much gone! You will find that all noise reduction headphones operate this way (reducing the low frequency noises much better than the high frequency noises). This is normal but it's all about how much of the low frequency noise is reduced.

If you're looking for some NC Headphones I highly recommend these!!! I guarentee you won't be disappointed! Oh ya BTW, the low frequency response on these puppies is insane! Was this review helpful?
