Before buying I went to the JVC website and downloaded the user manual. This thing really does everything! One note though, the limitations listed by JVC are incorrect. It says you can only have a 512 meg SD card or a 4GB USB drive. This is way wrong. You've got to the limits of FAT16 and FAT32. I'm running my 2GB SDcard I got from buy.com, and have hooked up my ImageTank 20GB external drive. the IT is good because it comes with a car adapter.
some of the drawbacks are that you don't have the 1-6 quick slect buttons for FM, however they are located on the remote. I also worry about theft. I installed it, and there are 6 bent tabs holding it in. (this is the standard DIN mounting) I'll have to remember to take the faceplate off. I also thought my 8 ohm speakers were going to be a problem (manual says 4 ohm). Its not a problem.
The AUX-in is handy. I built a cable from Radio Shack that converts the 2 RCA plugs in the back to a 1/8" phono jack. I then have a short 1/8" phono plug patch cable for plugging in the computer for movies through the car speakers.
