In Just the Ticket, Andy Garcia has one of the flashier roles of his career as Gary Starke, a hyperkinetic, motormouthed scalper who dashes frantically around New York importuning busloads of Asian tourists to purchase tickets to events from basketball games to museum exhibitions... But a flashy leading role does not insure a credible or coherent movie. As hard as Garcia works to spit out his best Al Pacino imitation, the film, which aims toward a John Cassavetesesque spontaneity and grittiness, is a mawkish, incoherent mess... If nothing else, Just the Ticket, written and directed by Richard Wenk, gives Garcia, who is the film's co-producer, some chances to chew the scenery. - Stephen Holden
