| | Jump In, the Disney Channel original movie soundtrack including songs from N.L.T., T-Squad, Keke Palmer and more.
The film revolves around a young boxer training to follow in his father's footsteps by winning the Golden Glove. When his friend, Mary, asks him to substitue for a team member in a double dutch tournament, the young man discovers a hidden passion for jump roping.
| | Album Notes and Credits | Notes & Personnel Info | | JUMP IN!, a Disney Channel original movie, stars Corbin Bleu as a young boxer who questions his dedication to the sport when he discovers a passion for jumping rope. The soundtrack features catchy, energetic songs by the film's stars (Bleu and Keke Palmer), as well as tracks by NLT and Lil' Josh. The general sound is that of fresh-faced commercial pop influenced by hip-hop and urban contemporary, albeit a sanitized, Disney-esque take on the genre. Still, there are plenty of hooky melodies and danceable beats on JUMP IN! to make pre-teens bounce, sway, and keep the double-dutch going for hours. | | The soundtrack to the Jump In! movie, which aired on the Disney Channel in early 2007, is entirely devoted to the lighter side of hip-hop/R&B. Though three of the songs (Keke Palmer's "It's My Turn Now" and "Jumpin'," and Corbin Bleu's "Push It to the Limit") are performed by the stars of the film, everything else is performed by other artists, including N.L.T., T-Squad, Sebastian Mego, Jordan Pruitt, Jupiter Rising, Drew Seeley, Prima J, Jeannie Ortega, Lil' Josh, and Kyle. In keeping with the movie's story of a double dutch tournament in Brooklyn, many of the songs are oriented, directly or indirectly, toward athletic achievement and pushing it to the limit. You wouldn't expect a Disney production to get into anything too heavy, but usually it's pretty innocuous optimistic hip-hop/rap with more of a conventionally song-oriented emphasis than the style usually has, with no less than four songs that use the word "jump" in the title. ~ Richie Unterberger |
