5 of 5 Just What I Needed! Friday, August 17, 2007 EliteBeatAgent5 from Neverland
This product is great. Provided me with rechargeable batteries and a charging base for my Wii. I think this unit looks much cooler than the other ones that are out and the batteries last a pretty long time. I highly recommend this! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Charging contacts are a pain to connect Wednesday, July 25, 2007 Donk from Charlottesville, VA
First off, the charging adapter was not of a USB style as is shown in the product images. It was actually an inline adapter to be placed between the Wii's power input port and the actual power cord. That's an annoyance because it means that I cannot plug it into a PC or usb hub.... anchoring it to the actual console. I'm also not so sure about the sturdiness of the connection to the Wii, and wouldn't dare to couple 2 of these inline to charge all 4 remotes. I'm hesitant to put anything inline with the main power lead coming from the wall, especially not twice.
Secondly, the charging pins/contacts are a pain to make contact with. They will usually make initial contact and then lose it after a few seconds. In order to make it hold contact for charging, you really have to manipulate the remote in its' base in a trial and error manner until it stays connected. I left 2 remotes charging overnight and in the morning, 1 showed a green light (full charge?) and the other showed no light at all (not connected/not charging).
I'm glad that I only bought one of these as trying to keep all 4 remotes in contact would be a constant struggle. I'm not sure if I'll go to the trouble of returning it or just consider it wasted money. I'll try another brand's charging station before making that decision. I can't imagine that any alternatives could be much more frustrating.
Would I buy again? No.
Would I recommend? Not really. It probably does the job, but at the cost of frustration. I'd look at other brands first.
