 Editor's Note
Pop singing sensations the Jonas Brothers make their feature-film debut in this concert experience. From their beginnings on the Disney Channel to the enormous fame that came after the 2007 release of their self-titled debut album, the New Jersey natives have followed a similar path to other tween pop idols like Miley Cyrus and Hilary Duff. But unlike those two, the real-life brothers have mostly appeared as themselves, not adopting on-screen personae like Cyrus?s Hannah Montana. For a band so young, they take their music seriously and hold their fans dear. While they?ve got producers working left and right to perfect their smooth look and sound, all three young men have a say in the band?s creative direction.Taking their musical act to the big screen, Kevin, Joe, and Nick delight their large pre-teen and teenage fan base with their cute looks, youthful energy, and musical optimism. The Disney film takes Jonas fans along with the band as they travel across the U.S. on their "Burning Up" tour, with guest spots by Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato. The film is packed not only with concert material, but also with backstage happenings as the band uses its pop sensibilities to try to make sense of love, newfound celebrity, and growing up. Filmed in July and August of 2008, the film focuses largely on two concert venues: Anaheim's Honda Center, and New York?s Madison Square Garden. Fan favorites are performed alongside one previously unreleased Jonas Brothers track, "Love Is On Its Way."

 | Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience - DVD Review By: Bill Gibron - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 7/9/2009 1:48 AM | |
Disney really wants you to believe that Miley Cyrus's male counterparts, the innocuous Jonas Brothers (Nick -- guitar/drums/keyboards/vocals, Kevin -- guitar/vocals, and Joe -- vocals) are the Beatles. They want to tap into the amazing mania that struck America four decades ago and position the siblings as the seminal '60s supergroup's rivals. At least that's the impressive given by the saccharine, syrupy performance piece Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. Interspersing their Madison Square Garden appearance in front of thousands of screaming girls with equally ear-shattering "day in the life" trips across Manhattan, one thing is clear -- the Twee Three are not the Fab Four....read the full review |

| | Professional Reviews | USA Today "[The film has] a playful, cheeky tone...this famously gracious trio doesn't take its luck for granted....[With] ample behind-the-scenes footage..."DVD Talk 7 of 10 Sometimes being a film critic is being at constant war with your instincts. This time last year, the "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" film was hitting screens across the country, with distributor Disney doubling ticket prices and keeping the press away from the final product out of fear of rotten reviews spoiling the moment. I walked in cautious and came out smiling, finding a bouncy performance film that utilized cutting-edge 3-D technology and bubblegum pop theatrics superbly, bestowing the devoted the party atmosphere and you-are-there point of view that formed one heck of a show. Now it's time for the Jonas Brothers to play the 3-D concert film lottery, and, once again, I have fear...Team Jonas, made up of brothers Kevin (the elder statesman), Joe (the heartthrob), and Nick (the runt), has spent the last two years ruling the Disney Channel generation with their gummy bear rock skills and boy-next-door, pants-stay-buttoned magnetism. With top-selling albums and a nation of screaming girls supporting their every last professional step, the jump to the big screen is not hard move to appreciate in a financial sense, and thankfully this "3D Concert Experience" is every bit as lively, strikingly colored, and playfully insightful to the Jonas world as "Best of Both Worlds" was to the Miley Cyrus kingdom..."Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience" delivers the goods in a big way, showing off the band at the apex of their popularity with the assistance of fun three-dimensional effects and enormous visual depth (often filled with glow sticks and digital cameras). While it helps to be versed in all matters Nick, Joe, and Kevin, idolatry isn't a requirement. A bright, brash display of unsophisticated pop music reaching out to the viewer's nose is easily appreciated no matter where it originates from. - Brian Orndorf
