Full of raunchy, tasteless, hilarious gags, JOE DIRT follows its eponymous protagonist (David Spade) on the search for his long-lost parents. Working as the janitor at a radio station, he enlists the help of one of the deejays (Dennis Miller) to tell his story on the air: when he was eight years old on a trip to the Grand Canyon, he behaved obnoxiously causing his parents to abandon him.

If snarling sarcasm has its masters -- those who set the standards and lead us to escalating levels of derision -- then David Spade and Dennis Miller are surely the top of the heap.No person is safe from their sting, no infirmity too delicate to escape their disdain. These guys are good at what they do -- just ask 'em -- and if what they do is something you find amusing, then "Joe Dirt" might be a decent way to kill 86 minutes. - Edward Guthmann

I wrote the words "Joe Dirt" at the top of my notepad, and settled back to watch the new David Spade movie. Here is the first note I took: Approx. 6 min. until first cow fart set afire. "Joe Dirt" doesn't waste any time letting you know where it stands. This is the kind of movie where the hero finds two things that have fallen from the skies--a meteor and an atomic bomb--and both turn out to be a case of mistaken identity. - Roger Ebert
