Plugged it in to both my cars. Blew both fuses. A multimeter confirmed that there was a short between the terminals on the 12v plug. The design made it impossible to take apart to fix myself. Couldn't return it since i didn't open it until a week after delivery. If you're luckier than me and get one that works, this is a good price. Was this review helpful?

I bought three of these for different cars and my work truck thinking I may never use them but "just in case".
The NEXT DAY I ended up on a job with no power outlets and cordless tool power running low. This inverter charged up my milwaukee li-ion batteries and I kept working.
The other two are still in their packages but could still save the day!

I bought it and plugged in one of the lighters. It blew up the fuse. I can not return it as buy doesnt accept its return,so I just had to put it in a trash.

I went on a trip this week and the Jensen charged my camera battery and the hand-me-down iBook I inherited from my daughter just fine. I've been wanting an inverter for years but I haven't wanted to pay $80. Before buying one of these, you probably should think about whether 160W will be sufficient power for whatever you want to run (think something a tad more power-hungry than two 75W light bulbs, so forget about running your air compressor). And the factory advises unplugging anything you're charging before starting the car (to protect against surges). It does have a power switch, which should accomplish the same end. Some kind of surge protection would have been nice but who knows if that's feasible and, in any event, what do you want for the price? This just means that if you're, like, OLD--and likely to forget it--keep the thing in the front where you'll see it when you go to start the car, which shouldn't be a problem as that's usually the most convenient place to put it anyway. However, for the price, I could have bought one for each of the three cigarette-lighter sockets my car came with (except that I'm, like, OLD).
I noticed Buy.com is now charging shipping, so the deal is not quite as good as it was when I bought mine. Was this review helpful?

I was looking for a product that I can use in my car for all the gadgets that I carry for my road trips. I must admit, this product really works great for the purpose. I use it to plug in my PSP, Laptop, cell phone chargers through an extension cord. I have used it for 6 hours straight without any over heating or loud fan noises. This device is cheaper than a Cell Phone Car Charger cord and since my family has multiple cell phones, we use this with the standard 115 volt cord chargers, in our car, while traveling. The Grand Children can also use their portable game units and their other electronic devices when they travel with us. Since we live in South FL, we haven't had to use it yet, but will use it when we lose power during Hurricanes. It is easy to use and a quality product. Was this review helpful?
