A brother and sister on spring break from college decide to take the scenic route home--an endless, desolate stretch of road through central Florida. Along the way they are run off the road by a strange truck, and later they see its driver disposing of what looks like a human body down a drainpipe near an old church. Derry (Justin Long) convinces his older sister, Trish (Gina Phillips), that they have to investigate, and despite all better judgement, they do. That's just the beginning of this wild horror film, directed by Victor Salva (POWDER). Salva keeps the audience guessing by never settling into any particular style or formula. The film veers gleefully in all directions, referencing such classics as NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and even THE TERMINATOR, along the body-strewn way. There is no shortage of clever humor amid the shocks, gross-outs, and nail-biting suspense, and Phillips and Long exhibit a refreshingly believable brother-sister rapport. The supporting cast includes Patricia Belcher as a psychic and Eileen Brennan as an eccentric cat owner. Francis Ford Coppola is the executive producer.

Come on, why on earth would anyone expect a horror movie to be plausible? Hello! Monsters don't exist! This movie is a sheer delight because it is so implausible. That's what makes it frightening! This movie absolutely sucks. If you haven't seen the 2nd part to this movie, don't even bother. Its a waste of your money. I can probable make a better movie than this one. This movie was so boring, that, people got up during the movie and left. They never came back. Was this review helpful?

This movie kept me on the edge of my seat not to mention made my wife jumpy which i get a kick out of!! This was one of the best opening sequences for any horror movie since SCREAM. Im not much of an acting critic but i feel the actors did a excellent job for the exception of that annoying black lady who goes on to sing that horrorable "JEEPERS CREEPERS" song. The ending just dissapointed me and it could of been way better but OVERALL this movie is pretty DAMN GOOD and suspensefull and one i added to my DVD collection and highly recommend!!! Im dying to see the 2nd one which im hoping will have alot more CREEPER!!! Was this review helpful?

This movie is my new favorate comedy I laughed so hard at the ridiculas stuff in this movie. The plot is dumb the monster is stupid and the acting is sub-par. As a horor movie this movie is just bad. But as a comedy I give it a 5. The only thing that was half decent about this movie was the cinematography. But it sure was great for a laugh. Was this review helpful?

I just wanted to let the owners of Pioneer DVD players this title will not play on most Pioneer EVE Players. Pioneer is aware of this. Basically the Disc will lock up when you try to play the movie. I watched the movie thinking it was just another "booty" ( my exact word ) scary movie. Boy, was I in for a ride. I wanted to stop watching so bad but there's the wanting to see what else is in store for the characters. I definitely recommend this. The title may not sound so scary but trust me you'll have goosebumps once you've seen the movie and hear the song "jeepers creepers" and "i only have eyes on you". This movie is one of the worst that I have ever seen. The plot is horrible and it has every bad horror movie cliche. Going back when you shouldn't? Yes! Driving off when you are not sure the monster is dead? You bet! Horrible attacks not possibly caused by humans but the police lock them up anyway? Oh yeah! Cops letting themselves get slaughtered instead of calling for backup? Sure! A secret that one of the characters actually has a link to the monster? Why not! However, if you like yelling at the characters that they are stupid and therefore deserve to die than go ahead and buy it. I gave the acting a 2 because some of the actors playing the cops are actually good. Also, the truck driven by the monster is inspired. Wanna good horror movie? Buy Evil Dead instead. A great movie from Victor Salva. I loved it from begining to end. Just a sit-back-and-have-fun type movie with an ending that I really like. The DVD is great, offering both standard and widescreeen - which all DVDs should do. Also alternate and deleted scenes, commentary, the making of, and many other special features to enjoy. This disk is double-sided..... VERY NICE! If you liked the movie this DVD is a must have. Was this review helpful?

I am a big fan of horror movies, in fact I've seen almost all of them. When I saw this movie I was just blown away. It was fantasic, so suspenseful from begining to the credits. I must have jumped out of my chair 10 times, truly frightening. Plot is a little rough but they get you with good scares. I pre-ordered this movie about 2 weeks before it came out.
