3 of 5 Good ear piece with a caveat. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 Mikey from Marseilles, Il
This is a quality earpiece. The sound is crisp. It doesn't stay in my ear well at all without the hook and it is somewhat uncomfortable after a while. The biggest problem: FINDING AAAA(that's 4-A) BATTERIES! I can't even seem to find them online. Some radio shacks have them. But when they run out, how likely is it they will replenish the stock. Also, they are expensive batteries. Overall, quality is good, value questionable. Was this review helpful?

First of all, I was interested in this because the item read, AAA powered headset. Little did I know that it was a 4A battery (aka AAAA battery) as it read when I ordered the item in late May.
(The product, shipped from the west coast finally arrived June 15 and was the only thing I had left from my original order. I had actually sent an inquiry to UPS the day before the envelope arrived.)
It quickly paired with my Verizon 3010 flip phone, seamlessly. Using the Jabra was not necessarily intuitive, and it was packaged in a very small ziplock bag, no larger thn a 3x5 size baggie, with a very small instruction booklet and two AAAA batteries (hopefully I can find some that aren't expensive when I need to replace them!). I wondered whether it was actually a refurbished item, since it had no packaging. After a few tries I decided to *read the manual* to pair the cellphone successfully. It fit well in my ear fort a while but started feeling a tad uncomfortable after about an hour or so, and now I only use it for driving. The earpiece had no soft jell or foam padding for the speaker that goes into the ear, which was a concern. And I did try unsuccessfully to use the BT2040 alone, without the comma-shaped earpiece. Other bluetooth headsets I've had allowed for using without it.
The clarity was spectacular. People didn't know that I had switched to the Jabra when calling them for the first time, and I could use it about 20 feet from my cell. However I noticed a few times that the headset turns off - after a number of minutes without use - sleep mode seems to be very deep sometimes.
For the price I paid, less than $9 with shipping included, it's fine. But again, the site has updated that the Jabra BT2040 is a AAAA-battery headset. Here's the quote from my order: "description: Jabra BT2040 AAA Powered Bluetooth Headset - New in Poly Bag
qty: 1
unit price: $8.99
item total: $8.99" Was this review helpful?

First off, the header says this is a triple A battery, but it's actually a quadruple A, which it says further down in the description. I thought it would be heavy, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The quad A is so tiny, so the headset is very light. Sound quality is as you would expect from Jabra, very clear, no noise. I'm not sure if this one is easier to use than any other BT, this is my first, so I had a small learning curve. BTW, I didn't notice it in the description, but mine came with two (2) batteries, which is good 'cause I was not even aware they made a quad A, let alone where I'd have to trek to pick one up! Overall, great buy. Was this review helpful?
