5 of 5 I love it.. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 Mark C from Cleveland, Ohio
I bought mine about 2 months ago, and love it so much I sent one to my Mom for Mothers Day. I have hardwood floors with a few carpet throws down, and my kitchen is slate tile. I have 3 children and a dog. This baby picks up everything and cleans very well. It cleans well on the slate tile, but does not reach all dirt in the large grout lines. This is not a major issue though, because I can hit those with a quick sweep. I love how it cleans while I am doing other things. Was this review helpful?

I've always wanted one of these, and I finally got one. I had figured that I could run this daily, and then run my Dyson on the weekends for a more thorough cleaning.
Well - - MOVE OVER DYSON!
This thing is great! My floors have never looked so fresh and spotless! This is with 3 kids, 1 dog, 6 cats and a messy husband to go with his messy wife.
It runs quiet enough to watch TV, and the white noise soothes the baby into sleep. It's quick and easy to clean out (takes less time than changing a diaper) and it cleans deeply into the carpet, getting out things that I never would've thought were there. It makes linoleum and hard floors look better then swept. It has a special arm that even gets into corners, and it can get itself unstuck from anywhere it may wander.
The only bad thing about it is that now I HAVE to get a Scooba! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just what I expected Thursday, May 07, 2009 A Customer from Memphis, TN
The robot picks up the surface dust and dirt. I have lots of fiber, yarn and thread to clean up. It does a great job. It goes over all the fringe on rugs without problem. I've had to rearrange some of the furniture so it can reach the majority of each room but it was a matter of moving something an inch or two. I put the dining chairs on the table when I do those areas. I still need to use a more powerful vacuum to deep clean every once in a while but it keeps the house looking great. Easy to empty, easy to unwrap the threads from the wheels. Now that it has gone through all the rooms and the obstacles removed it can be left alone while it cleans. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very Satisfied! Monday, April 27, 2009 ol bedhead from san francisco
I've wanted a Roomba for a while and since we bought a house and didn't have a vacuum, we went for it. I couldn't be happier. It's not perfect and needs some help when it gets stuck, but I hate vacuuming so it's great. Plus, the amount of stuff it picks up is amazing. Even dog hair. Tons of it! Plus, i use it more than i would vacuum so I feel like our house is cleaner. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 much better Monday, April 27, 2009 A Customer from VaBch, VA
I have an earlier 4220 which cleaned much deeper, but ate carpet fringe (I have seven orientals), lamp cords, bedspreads, etc. That was so much hassle that I didn't use very much. Then the brush and beater stopped turning - and inaccessable to fix. All in all, this is much better, plus I have the two virtual walls and the remote from the earlier. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 ROOMBA! Monday, April 27, 2009 JM from Boston, MA
I was really amazed how well this product worked, how quiet it is and it doesn't even bother my cats! Goes from carpet to hardwood no problems, no tangling in cords, easy to clean. Let's you know when something is wrong--talks to you.
Would highly recommend. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pretty cool little fella! Wednesday, April 22, 2009 Spider from Madison, WI
I thought this might be a "gadget", but not only does it do an excellent job of cleaning, but it's almost like a pet!(I think my cat likes it, too)
It is well thought-out and easy to maintain. The darn thing is pretty smart and avoids steps and goes over minor changes in floor thickness, cords, etc., the only problem is it can get stuck going under overhangs as high as it is, though standard base cabinet "kick" areas are no problem. 4 of 5 I think I like it Monday, April 20, 2009 A Customer from St. Charles, MO
The jury is still out, but I think we like it. It seems to do a pretty good job of cleaning, although I'm not convinced it completely covers the area. Sometimes it seems to focus in certain areas and miss others. It's pretty easy to clean, but it's kind of a drag to have to clean it every time you use it. Also it's a bit of a pain to either drag the dock to whatever area we're cleaning, or just let it go dead where it is and carry it back. Also wish we had another virtual wall (I know, we could buy another).
I guess the bottom line is, how much you like it depends a lot on how much the cute/cool factor means to you. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Much improved over earlier iRobot Roomba models Saturday, April 18, 2009 Adam from Huntington Beach, CA
I was shocked with the many improvements of this iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaner over the one I bought years ago and returned due to poor performance issues. These newer modules work great, and I'm always surprised to see all that it vacuums up from my carpets and floors when I empty the canister. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Bachelor's dream Saturday, April 18, 2009 James from Danbury,ct
Great device. Cleans way better then expected and scares cat which is good. Will never be without one again. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good product, fun toy Saturday, April 18, 2009 Ryan from San Francisco, CA
So, the Roomba 530 is actually a very enjoyable device. It does what is advertised and does it fairly well. I have hardwood floors so it's enjoyable to have so that it picks up all of the dust and bits that are all around, however I noticed that it does need supervision. I have a coffee table that it tries to get under and tends to get stuck. I also have some exposed speaker wiring that it crosses, but tends to drag along with it. When the Roomba crosses from hardwood to carpet, I've notice some lint that had been collecting with the Roomba sticks to the edge of the carpeting. Maybe my floors are just too dirty, but that is something that I didn't expect. The dirt bin isn't full when that happens either. Overall, I think that the Roomba is a great aid for cleaning so you can do other things while it's running around, but it feels like a bit of a novelty. I would recommend this to someone else. It is a great and fun product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 I love my Roomba Friday, April 17, 2009 BNLJane from Sammamish, WA
I love the iRobot products and owned a Scooba for a while (also bought refurbished). The Roomba is awesome, saves me from having dirty carpets (I don't vacuum very much anyway) and is still fun to watch.
My only tiny issue is that it thinks it's falling down something if it has to go over dark carpet, such as my multi-color rug. This prevents me from running it when I'm out, but it's not too annoying to use when I'm at home. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Delivers what you would expect Friday, April 17, 2009 GS from Dallas, TX
I'm busy and lazy and thought this would make my life a little easier and cleaner and was not wrong. It actually does what it supposed to do which is go around the house and vacuum. You don't need beacons for every room if you don't want it to return to base after being done, just release it anywhere and it'll go around all your rooms vacuuming. You have to empty container from dirt from time to time and occasionally clean brushes, otherwise it's handsoff vacuuming of the future. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Quirky but worth having Friday, April 17, 2009 John from Northern MS
We received our Roomba on Wednesday and charged it overnight. We ran it on Thursday and half of Friday before it died. IRobot sent us replacement parts which took a week to arrive. The new parts fixed the problem and the robot is back in service.
The robot isn't as "fire and forget" as you'd like. You have to dump the (small) catch pan regularly and if you have pets, you'll be taking apart the brush bearings (which is easy) every time you use it.
Despite all of this, my wife and I are happy with the product. We'll put it in a room and leave it while we go to work and it does save some time - just not as much as you think.
We've already agreed that when this one finally dies, we'll buy the one that is meant for people with pet

5 of 5 Really amazing Friday, April 17, 2009 Mary Frances McClure from Stedman, NC
I was skeptical about the ability to pick up dirt and hair...after all the Roomba isn't much bigger than a dinner plate. He does an amazing job! My kids have named him Zinc, so Zinc is my new best friend. Dog hair seems to cause him no problem. Being refurbished doesn't seem to hurt his performance either. He does well moving from tile to carpet as well. I am recommending a Roomba to all my friends. It has made coming home much nicer since the floor is clean! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The 530 model is a much improved version vs the 40 Friday, April 17, 2009 Antonio S. Pahati from New York, NY 10023
Very happy with the performnce and design of the 530 series. Came with one lighthouse and docking station but did not have a remote.
It is much more efficient and less banging when obstacles are encountered. I would buy one or two more units when two of my 400 series finally become too old to work. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love it! Tuesday, April 14, 2009 A Customer from Gardiner, NY
So easy to use! For someone who hates vacuuming coupled with never enough time, this product is great! Have 3 long haired cats and works fine as long as catch container emptied after each use and brushes are cleaned every other clean. Love this product, worth every penny for the $165!! 5 of 5 Very Nice!! Thursday, April 09, 2009 Bobby from Porter, Texas
No problems so far. We have two dogs, so the hair and the dust bunnies are a constant problem. Not now... We have concrete floors and the Roomba does an excellent job. Cleaning and removing caught (dog) hair from the unit is easy... well made with that in mind. Very Nice unit... I would recommend to anyone who hates to vacuum. Was this review helpful?

Love the Roomba!! Anything that will vacuum for me - is wonderful! Program or hit the button, and off it goes! Cleans my entire house for me daily! Does not eat the fringe on my floor rugs, adjusts from floor to carpet w/o prob, cleaning is easy, and it does a great job consistently! The pets were a little leary of it at first, but now they just get out of it's way. Make your life a little easier w/a Roomba! Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Works, fun to watch, but high maintenance Thursday, March 26, 2009 Frank from New Jersey
I have had one of these (bought new) for a couple of years. My house has NO Carpets.
Pros: The engineering is very smart. The design is modular, all components can be removed and replaced readily. It works somewhat like a pool vacuum, i.e. it wanders around the room somewhat at random, avoiding obstacles and following walls. It fits under couches/chairs, it works its way around furniture legs. It picks up a lot of dust, hair, etc
cons: Has to be cleaned quite frequently, takes me about 5 mins to do it. I suspect if used on carpet it will need even more cleaning. Noisy. Has a lot of smart sensors but still bumps around a lot. Things like a juice-brick straw wrapper may just get pushed around rather then picked up.
