    5 of 5 Great Job! Wednesday, January 28, 2009
    A Customer from Austin, TX

I bought it as a gift for my mom 6 months ago. She is very obsessive about cleanliness and always said that she has never believed in anybody else's vacuuming other than herself for the last 40 years. After using Roomba for the first time, when I asked her how it is working, I was totally stunned by her answer: "It vacuums cleaner than me!". So I believe it really does a terrific job in vacuuming. Before vacuuming you need to prepare the floors a little bit. Then it doesn't need any care anymore. It goes under furniture, cleans carpets, rugs and floors. Highly recommended by me.

    5 of 5 Nice Vacuum Monday, November 17, 2008
    A Customer from Monroe, MI
I've used this for almost 9 months now and it works great. I use it predominantly on hardwood floors. It does take a little longer to fully charge than I expected. But it cleans great! It gets under the bed and will clean the rugs too.

    5 of 5 iRobot Roomba--Hooray! Tuesday, May 27, 2008
    billiep from Sun City, AZ
What a product! Running the vacuum couldn't be easier! It goes under furniture (like beds) where it is difficult to reach with other vacuum cleaners. This product certainly has my recommendation.

5 of 5 Terrific product - has kept me sane with 1 dog and Sunday, May 18, 2008
    Corina from Akron, Ohio
This is now my third Roomba (all three are still working), and I think this one might clean better than the two 560s I have! I have gotten used to having the Roombas start on their own and return to their docking stations, and the fact that the 510 doesn't is the only down side to this item. But I knew that going in, and I was glad to pay less than half as much for the refurbished 510 as I did for the 560! The refurbished unit is working great (as I said, I think it cleans better than the other two I have!), and I think the Roomba is the greatest thing since sliced bread! I would not recommend any other versions of the Roomba besides the 500 series. I tried the Discovery model once, and it didn't do much at all besides push some dirt around. The Scooba I ordered went right back (it was refurbished too, but never worked at all). But I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Roombas!

4 of 5 Great on stained concrete floors Saturday, May 17, 2008
Mrs T from New Ulm, TX
Roomba does an impressive job on stained concrete floors. It was amazing to see how much dust and hair it picked up. The device gets caught on the occasional piece of furniture and doesn't handle small throw rugs very well but as long as I prepare the floors before vacuuming, this device sames me boo-koos of time!

5 of 5 Great for those with pets Saturday, May 17, 2008
    A Customer from Mesa, AZ
I was constantly getting out my huge Kirby to vacuum up after my 5 pets. I bought this so the house could be vacuumed more easily and more frequently. My boyfriend initially thought it was a dumb purchase, but now he loves the thing! We were both impressed with how much it picks up, how easily and quickly it charges and is to clean. It's not perfect since no body is "driving" it, but between thorough vacuumings it's great.

5 of 5 I liked it so much, I just bought another Thursday, May 15, 2008
    A Customer from Detroit, MI
I just bought another one of these things as a gift. This thing is great, and earns 5's for every category. As other reviews have noted, you must clean the brushes regularly, probobly every other time you vacuum a room. At least I need to with a long haired wife and a cat. The more often you vacuum with Roomba, the less frequently you have to clean the brushes. Roomba knocked down a picture standing in the corner once and broke the glass, at it frequently likes to turn on the T.V. by pushing the power button, other than that it is well behaved and turns a chore into something fun. Put a price on that!

4 of 5 it is good Tuesday, May 06, 2008
    A Customer from Novi, Mi
it is a good stuff. I usually do not give grade 5. But grade 4 is still a good grade. It is good and saves me a lot of time. It now works fine. Let's see the life expectation of built-in battery, hope it could be long enough.

    5 of 5 Very nice! Monday, May 05, 2008
    Musty from Mobile, AL
This thing is a little larger and heavier than I expected. (Though is not heavy or large. I just misjudged the size since there is no reference in the pictures.) I find that I need to clean the brushes and empty the bin about each time I recharge it. I expect that to diminish as a more regular vacuuming schedule is now possible for me. If you do not mind cleaning the brushes, this thing is awesome. Given my experience with it, I wish I had spent the extra $ to get the one that recharges itself and can be scheduled. Keep in mind that it does not do stairs or automobiles. I have laminate, carpet, and rugs with 5" fringe. Once it got caught on the fringe and ended up dumping part of its load while trying to get undone. But it did eventually get loose on its own. If you let it clean too large of an area at a time, and the battery runs out, you have to find where it died at. But it has cleaned 2 large, 1 medium, and 2 small rooms on a charge.

4 of 5 Works quite well Saturday, May 03, 2008
    A Customer from Lynnwood, Washington
Works well on the hardwood floors. The performance on the rugs is not entirely successful. Some things still remain on the rug. However the rugs looks much better than they did, with no effort from me.

5 of 5 GET IT NOW!!! Saturday, May 03, 2008
A Customer from San Diego, CA
Simply put, Roomba rules! I love running this thing. It's amazing how much dirt it keeps picking up. The price we paid at Buy.com was awesome. We have hardwood floors and tile throughout and it is really great. We also have a dog who sheds like a fiend, so it is a life saver in that dept. The only thing it can't do is get his hair completely off our wool area rug. I don't really fault it for that because our upright vacuum cleaner doesn't do whole lot better...

4 of 5 Cleans well, but 'improved side brush' is useless Thursday, May 01, 2008
    A Customer from Anderson, SC
We have laminate hardwood flooring & this model roomba works GREAT on this surface. We have 1 large rug in our house & this does an OK job on that...we still break out the regular vacuum to clean this. The battery life is good & we are able to clean about 4 rooms on a single charge. My ONE COMPLAINT about this product is that the 'improved side brush' is useless. I say useless, since we have only had it a few months now & half of the bristles have snapped off. I'm guessing it will not be much longer before they are all gone...

    5 of 5 Completely satisfied Wednesday, April 30, 2008
    MV from Plano, TX
I got this about $100 after the revolution card $50 rebate. Amazing product and value for this price. Like most others, I was amazed at how much dust it picked up from a cleaned hardwood floor and carpet. I have large rooms but still this little wonder take care of it effortlessly and battery life has not been a problem so far. Although it slows down when approaching walls, it does bump into the legs of furniture because they are not as wide as a wall. So, over time, it may cause the stain on the wooden legs of furniture such as sofas and coffee tables to show some wear marks. Other than that, it is a great product and I love it. Ever since I got the Roomba, I am always eager to let it loose in some room and watch it go about with its job. It feels good to know we have a clean house without having to toil for it.

5 of 5 Lots of improvement over the old model! Wednesday, April 30, 2008
    A Customer from Stillwater OK
This is my second Roomba and I love it more. The first one is 416 bought half year ago, still working, but I like the improvement of the new model so decide to upgrade. Two major impovements I perticularly like over the old model are (1) not stuck on the edge of floor mat (2) easy to clean brushes. The old one once eat up the wire on the edge of my floor mat, and is very difficult to clean hairs wrapped around the brush. The new one is smarter to not stuck on stuffs and also the brush shapes was redesigned to not trap hair on it. I strongly recommend to buy the 5xx model over the 4xx model. I don't want to buy the higher models with fancy functions unless it can dump the dust to trash can by himself someday... One improvement deserved in the new model is the ease of cleaning of the rubber brush. The plastic stopper on the side of this brush should be removable just like the bigger brush, so hairs wrapped on it can be removed easily.

5 of 5 Helpful Tool & Fun to Watch Wednesday, April 30, 2008
    RWT from Orfordville, WI
Helps clean while you do something else. But don't spend too much time watching or it defeats the purpose! Although the cleaning is not perfect, it does pick up quite a bit of animal hairs and dust, especially under furniture that is high enough. Overall, it's been a good purchase even though you can buy quite a bit of vacuum power with $160!

    4 of 5 I love this little guy! Tuesday, April 29, 2008
    jw_h from Spartanburg, SC
This is the second Roomba I've owned and I really like these products. My old one is still going strong, (except for the battery. $21.89 on ebay.), but the 510 is clearly the overall winner. My old Sage 4000 series was a wonder for its time but the new 500 series is a much better design. This one is lighter, quieter and runs about four times as long with out needing a recharge. It also appears to be sealed better than the earlier models. This means that less dust and hair can get inside the mechanics of the unit to gum it up. I’ve had to disassemble the old 4000 once for cleaning. The only two complaints that I have about the 510 are 1) because of the color and material this little guy is made of, the exterior shows various marks and abrasions from contact with furniture and walls. 2) One of the arms on the wall\corner brush broke off on the second use. I tried gluing it back but it popped off again. A replacement is about$10. Other that that, this is a gem and a great value!

    5 of 5 Hi-Tech That Actually Works Tuesday, April 29, 2008
    jeffskolnik from Fairview, NC
The Roomba 510 is that unusual hi-tech device that actually does exactly what it should do, without elaborate setup or hand-holding. It is a surprisingly good vacuum cleaner as well, exceptionally adept at picking up pet hair. Battery run-time is very good (1 hour 15 min without slowing) and recharge time is reasonably short (2-1/2 hours). The only downside is that the unit requires an elaborate cleaning(some disassembly required)every use.

4 of 5 Works pretty well Tuesday, April 29, 2008
    Pat from Lake Hopatcong, NJ
Works well on bare wood and tile floors. Has a problem with smaller throw rugs (pushes them around instead of going over them). The object sensors work really well -- it slows down when something is in front of it, so it doesn't exert a lot of force when it bumps into something like a waste basket or pot. It doesn't run on a charge as long as advertised (what does?), but gets about 1 1/4 hours and is increasing a bit with every use. I expect to get around 1 1/2 hours of cleaning out of each charge eventually. Noise level is low, like a small fan -- much lower than then older 400 models.

5 of 5 Best Vacuum Ever!!!! Monday, April 28, 2008
    Lisa from Massachusetts
I never would have believed it if I didn't see it for myself! I never thought this little machine would work as well as it does. It picks up everything, and gets closer to the walls than I ever could with my regular vacuum cleaner. I was amazed at how it went around every table leg, along cabinets, under furniture.....it is amazing. I love that it has the cliff sensors so it doesn't fall off the top stair, I was sure it would. It is the best appliance I have ever purchased, I am so sorry I waited so long to get one. Love it, love it, love it!!!

5 of 5 I should have NEVER waited so long Monday, April 28, 2008
    Adam from Oklahoma City, OK
I have friends who rave about how great it is, but I could not justify the cost. I have had mine for about a month and love it!! I should have bought it a long time ago. I have used it on both carpet and ceramic tile and it does a great job, especially getting the edges. My biggest skepticism is that it is not as powerful as a regular vacuum and it will not pick up much, but I was absolutely wrong. I know that some people will be disappointed that it repeats a certain area multiple times but it is important to remember YOU are not doing the work.

4 of 5 Cool Way to Clean Monday, April 28, 2008
    A Customer from MN
This is my first Roomba and I'm impressed on how well it cleans. The dirt bin needs to be emptied after each use. It quieter than I expected and so far has never gotten hung up on anything. The only issue I've run in to is a weird charging issue that may be with the charger it self but its only happened once so far. So far the Roomba has been great.

    5 of 5 Roomba Rocks!!! Monday, April 28, 2008
    Mary from Colchester, VT
I can say that I LOVE this machine. One of the best purchases I have ever made. Not only does it thouroughly clean the entire room, but the dust and hair it picks up is frightening. I like the fact that I no longer have to pull out and drag around the hose for the central vac and I don't mind taking the time to clean Roomba. 5 stars from me.

4 of 5 The little Robot that could.... Monday, April 28, 2008
    stempesta from Boston, MA
... be greener. Why? In order to maintain battery life roomba 510 needs to be plugged in continously as recommended in the manual. This model is not the one that has a scheduler program so it basically does nothing while charging except that it sensors are working so energy is being used. Ok.I'm no scentist but it this necessary? It seems wasteful to me. Batteries are about $100. Hopefully other models or the next generation will be more effeciant. I gave it a high score because its an awesome vaccum that does what its supposed too. It cleans. It's cute and I love it. Very cool.

    5 of 5 Best "gadget" I ever bought Sunday, April 27, 2008
    Jeanne from CT
The 510 does a great job under beds, other furniture, hardwood floors and carpets. I only wish I had bought it earlier. I have two minor comments. I wish the dirt tray was easier to remove. I have to try a number of times before I can depress the release button enough to remove it, but my husband has no difficulty. I also wish the info sheet showed a more thorough diagram on the cleaning of the brushes and removing the side brush for cleaning. Fortunately the web site has very good instructions as to what is needed. The "4" for ease of use of is due the dirt tray removal comment, which may be due to my hand strength as no one else has mentionned this.

    5 of 5 Roomba Review Monday, April 21, 2008
    A Customer from Detroit, MI
This thing works incredibly well. Cleans under the couches, under the bed, won't fall off edges, and the cat loves it. It cleans both carpet and hardwood very well. It picks up lots of dust and hair, much more than I thought it would, especially the first time you use it. The corner brush cleans along the baseboards better than my normal vacuum. The 500 series Roomba has surpassed novelty status and is now an honest to goodness home appliance. My kids will grow up wondering what it used to be like to vacuum your house. I had one problem with mine, when I first charged it I got a charging error 05. The battery was not making good contact with the terminals. I opened it up, removed the battery, and bent the four tabs up a little bit more, put everything back, and it worked like a charm.

5 of 5 Great Buy. Big improvement over previous generatio Sunday, April 20, 2008
    rockfarmers5 from Fenton, Michigan
My husband (a robotics programmer) turned me on to this deal. While I've always loved the IDEA behind the Roomba...I had a previous generation model and found it unreliable. (it was also significantly more expensive) I figured for $159...I'd get 2 of these babies. We just finished out our basement. (about 1700 sf of laminate flooring and tile) The Roombas are doing a GREAT job of cleaning. The side brush really does a remarkable job of getting along the wall and around some columns we have. We have 2 large dogs (bulldog and mastiff) and 2 insanely furry cats (himalayan and ragdoll) as well as 3 boys. LOL. I'll take whatever help I can get!! I love the fact that I don't feel a speck of sand, dirt, dog food, kitty litter or cat hair tumbleweeds when I walk barefoot downstairs. That used to really gross me out. So far a fabulous buy!!!! Time will tell if iRobot has resolved their durability issues. BTW...don't worry about this model not having the docking station. At least in the past that particular piece of equipment was absolute junk. The majority of the time Roomba couldn't even find it to dock itself. (particularly true with larger rooms) I just plug my 2 new Roombas in. Easy pleasy. I actually think this way is better. A docking station is sure not worth the extra $100+. Hope this review helps anyone sitting on the fence. **I just have to keep the husband from trying to tinker and alter their programming... :-)

5 of 5 Awesome little piece of machinery! Friday, April 18, 2008
    stpsoccer from Miami, FL
I let this little sucker go at my room last night and wow did it pick up a whole bunch of stuff that I obviously hadn't! Setup was easy and cleaning/emptying was a sinch. I'd definitely recommend this for a 20-something guy who wants to make sure his places is clean and presentable. Totally worth the price and new robotic friendship...haha.

    5 of 5 Back Saver! Friday, April 18, 2008
    A Customer from Melbourne FLorida
Terrific on hard floors and zipping up and over throw rugs. You don't need to pick up the throw rugs unless you want to. We only have one room with carpeting, and Roomba works fine on that also. No tassels on the edges of rugs though. This baby picks up better than my vacuum cleaner. You don't need the more expensive models with a docking station. This one quits on its own when it knows that it has thoroughly cleaned the room, and beeps to let you know. Just pick it up and plug in the charger, like a cell phone. Easy to empty dust bin. Watch for cords, but if it does get tangled up, as mine did with a blind I had taken down and left on the floor, it will stop and talk to you and tell you to check it. Your back will be thankful. Just push the button and off it goes. I highly recommend this purchase. Can't beat the price.

    5 of 5 Wonder Tool! Wednesday, April 16, 2008
    A Customer from Knoxville, Tn.
This little gizmo is a wonderful addition to any home! It works well on Hardwood and Carpeted floors and picks up a lot more than you would think judging from it's size. It has a noise level that is more like a dishwasher than a vacuum. Easy to empty and clean and entertaining to watch in action! (at least the first few times)

    5 of 5 Does a good job Tuesday, April 15, 2008
A Customer from Buffalo Grove, IL
Unlike many reviewers we do not have pets, so I was surprised at all the hair that Lola picked up (yes, we named our Roomba too, the name was my wife’s suggestion likening the Roomba to a French maid). In this case it was human hair. Lola does a good job of picking up surface dirt as well as hair, carpet fibers and lint. It is easy to empty the dust collector and filter, but cleaning the rollers can be more time consuming. Hair gets wrapped around the ends of the rollers requiring the use of a small pocket knife to cut the twisted loop of hair and pull it away. However, after cleaning a room a couple of times, the amount of hair and fiber picked up on subsequent runs is minimal (if one cleans regularly). Like other reviewers I was very impressed by how much “stuff” was picked up by this unit. It does NOT replace a full powered vacuum cleaner, but can reduce the number of times its use is needed. Once started, Lola spends about 45 minutes cleaning a room. I think a little more smarts in its program would do a better job. It tends to get into a “loop” and do the same general area over and over, eventually it does get past that area and move on, but just the minor change of alternating turning left and turning right when it hits and obstacle would make a big difference in avoiding those loops. It is surprising how well it fits under furniture - it got itself into (and back out of) some pretty tight spaces. It also does a great job of detecting steps. Most of our steps are carpeted and I was concerned (after reading the manual) that Lola might have problems with the rounded edges, but so far she has never fallen over the edge (though one time one of her drive wheels did go over the edge and she needed my assistance to get her moving again). We have had Lola for less than a month but so far we are very pleased with the convenience of using her and the job that she is doing. My wife especially likes Lola. I originally bought her as a present for my wife, but as it turns out the best part of the present (in my wife’s opinion) is that I have assumed responsibility for using AND cleaning Lola. At the current price of around $150 I can recommend the Roomba as a good value for the money. For people that want clean floors and carpets but do not want to spend the time and energy pushing a vacuum cleaner around, this unit is a great option.

5 of 5 Hair - red, black, brown, blond Monday, April 14, 2008
    A Customer from Pacifica, CA
Roomba creates a veritable archaeological dig in my home. Each time I clean the brushes I find Kathy's red hair, Maria's black, Janes brown and now my sweet Deb's blond hair. It has been years since I cleaned under the bed - OK, I've never cleaned under the bed. I love Roomba. She loves it under my bed. If she just shed a little hair, I would marry her. Buy this little gem!

    5 of 5 LOVE IT! Monday, April 14, 2008
    Erica from Orlando, FL
I received my Roomba a few days ago and I absolutely LOVE it! It cleans much better than I though it would. It's side brush kicks up the dust on the baseboards and Roomba vacuums it up. It gets under my bed, the front of the refrigerator, everything! It can go over thresholds (was curious if he could or not) to move from room to room with ease. I have hardwood floors, travertine floors and area rugs. Roomba cleaned all perfect. I was concerned about him getting tangled in my oriental rug, but he cleaned it without a problem. Now if I could only get my dog to stop barking at Roomba :)

    5 of 5 Impressive Sunday, April 13, 2008
akimball from Salt Lake City, UT
I'm an engineer and I've actually worked in robotics for many years (among other things). Honestly, I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this, but for the price (I bought it at about $155) I thought I'd give it a whirl. I was not expecting the vacuum portion to work nearly as well as it does. We've had a cat for almost a year now and I thought we were keeping ahead of the cat hair issue in the home, but after running this guy through the whole house on the first attempt, this vacuum collected enough cat hair off the floors to completely cover a 2nd and 3rd kitty (not to even mention human hair and other types of dirt). I decided to run the vacuum around the home again and on the 2nd run, it collected only about a third as much of the hair, presumably because it picked up so much of it on the first pass. The vacuum got stuck one time under a couch just high enough to get under it, but not high enough to get out. The Roomba 510 gets into places that I never could get into without moving major pieces of furniture. My only negative observation is that the brushes, which are very easy to remove, need to be cleaned after almost every use and the dirt collection area (bagless!) is a bit on the small side and fills quickly, but remember, we have a cat and this is to be expected. The vacuum is quiet, efficient, charges fairly quickly, very very well designed, it seems durably sturdy. Side benefit: Having a vacuum of this type tends to make you pick up the floor a bit differently... less clutter actually (cords should be out of the way, etc.). It simply pushes small cat toys (and kids toys) out of the way so they really aren't a problem. It does tile and wood floors in our home too. I would definitely buy another one, and after having this one, I might even purchase one of the more advanced units sold by Roomba as well (a 535 or a 560 for example). I'm blown away actually. Finally, this is about the only appliance gift I would consider giving as a gift; I don't usually consider appliances to make good gifts, but I would definitely give one of these to my mom, or my mother-in-law who are older and could benefit from the ease of use. Sorry to be so gushy about this product in this review, but wow. Too cool.

    5 of 5 Time Saver Tuesday, April 08, 2008
    A Customer from Yukon, OK
This product has saved me many hours of cleaning. My wife did not mind at all when I told her I purchased a Roomba for her to help with house work. I love to let it run and clean a room while I'm at work. Gets under the bed and furniture. Cleans better than I can with an upright. I was amazed at how much it picks up! The best part of having a Roomba is, I have no back pain after vacuuming!

4 of 5 As good as I was hoping! Tuesday, April 08, 2008
    A Customer from Madison, AL
This is my first Roomba, finally! I have been watching them for years and when I saw the price on this one, I just could not pass it up anymore. I am impressed with the amount of dirt, dust, pet hair(and human hair!) and general fuzz this baby picks up. You obviously have to still prep your area by getting things out of the way and of course I put the kitchen chairs turned up on the table. Seems to be much more efficient if I confine him to one room at a time. Battery life is remarkable. Only a few annoying things: the little brush will sometimes go under the edge of a rug, preventing him from being able to get ON the rug, but he will eventually(most of the time) come back at a different angle. The only other thing would be to improve the patterning somewhat--for example, if he gets stuck in a corner, he repeats the same pattern over and over with no help in sight! So far he is not saving me any time because I follow him around watching him, but he sure is fun to watch!

5 of 5 Love my ROOOMMMBBA! Tuesday, April 08, 2008
    A Customer from Houston, TX
What can I say about my Roomba besides I love it! I hate to clean, but love a clean pad and Roomba does just that! Just bought my sister a Scooba and now I'm going to buy another one for my parents! The only downside to Roomba is it's a little noisy, especially in my place since I have three floors.

5 of 5 We love Roomba!! Tuesday, April 08, 2008
iRobot User from West Palm Beach
If your thinking about purchasing one, buy it. we have wood floors, tile floors and carpet. This seamlessly goes to any of our floors and cleans the area. It even goes under the bed. The first time we ran this 530 iRobot we were amazed at how much it found in our clean house! It was a deal at Buy.com with the promotional price. Thank-you Buy.com!

    5 of 5 ROOMBA! Monday, April 07, 2008
    A Customer from Essex, VT
Great product - I hate to clean and with this product I just push the button and it does all the work for me - it reaches all places, goes around furniture and into each room but will not fall down the stairs! All I have to do is simply clean it after a couple uses. Now my floors are always clean!

5 of 5 Does an excellent job - Thinking about a Scooba no Monday, April 07, 2008
    Matt S from Winfield WV
It does an excellent job. I started it out in the kitchen first as I had more obstacles in there and it's the room I like vacuuming least. I was doubtful after the side brush would throw something hard like a little pebble across the room, but it got it later. It has done a fantastic job and has got itself out of some very tight spots. The vacuuming power is pretty good. I've got a Kirby G5 so it's hard to compare the two. For what the Roomba costs and ease of cleaning, I'm very excited. I would recommend getting at least 1 additional virtual wall. The Roomba can do my whole downstairs on a single charge. It's about 900 Sq. Ft. Highly recommend it as a time and energy saver.

    5 of 5 I'm impressed Sunday, April 06, 2008
    Betty Ann from Henderson, Nevada
I didn't actually think that the roomba would work very well, but for the excellent price I gave it a try. I have to say that I'M IMPRESSED with its performance. The roomba does a really good job on the carpets under beds - I didn't realize how much dust was under there until I emptied the roomba's dust reservior. It is also very good on picking up hair and debri from tile floor. This model doesn't have an automatic docking station so it needs to be recharged after 1 hour or so. I manage this by doing one room a day on a rotational basis. This is enough to keep the house looking neat a clean all the time.

    5 of 5 510 Roomba Rocks! Sunday, April 06, 2008
    John from Bolingbrook, Il
I have had the 4xx series Scheduler previous to the 510 and can say to date is it a significant improvement. It cleans better, is faster, quieter, and the battery lasts longer. Although it looks taller than the older series, it gets under furniture just the same. The feature that allows it to slow down when approaching walls etc will go a long way to reducing the wear on my skirting boards. The older virtual walls also seem to still work with the new unit, but the docking station does not.
