3 of 5 A decent speakerphone Monday, March 30, 2009 A Customer from Boston, MA
I bought this to replace another bluetooth speakerphone that had a caller ID display, and I must say I miss that feature considerably. I guess I didn't realize I always check who is calling before answering and now I need to pick up my phone while driving if I want the caller ID. On most other fronts the Iqua Vizor has been an improvement so far, especially since that unit stopped working reliably after about 6 months and was never really loud enough for me to hear the caller reliably.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it is somewhat difficult to use the solar charging feature. The unit is not naturally in a position to get sunshine unless you mount it on your dashboard, and leaving it out in the open in an unattended car invites theft. Also, callers have said I don't sound very loud and mounting it on the dash, farther away, could only make that worse. If you live in an area where it is safe to do so, the magnet mounting does make it easy to take it off your visor and place it on the dash to charge when you park.
But the solar charging has been irrelevant for me. The battery life has been sufficient for my purposes without placing it in the sun between charges, and you can just plug it in when the battery gets low. The auto-shutoff seems to work well (who thinks to turn the unit off when they get out of the car?) which helps with battery life. The car charger and cable that come with it will also charge any phone that takes a mini-USB plug and with the right cable it will also charge any device that can use a USB port -- an iPod for example.
Some callers have said I sound a bit fuzzy, not as clear as the cell phone alone, but that goes with the territory these days and it hasn't impeded conversation. I have a fairly quiet car and the sound quality and volume at my end is sufficient, but nothing extra. I can't imagine anyone would use it at anything but full volume all the time, and it might not be enough in a noisier car -- though perhaps your ears are better than mine.
My biggest complaint is that the mounting magnets are not as secure as I'd like when pressing the buttons. Most of the buttons are on the front edge and can easily be used by placing a finger behind and pressing with your thumb, thereby not disturbing the unit. This still takes more care than my old one -- if you press a button with just one finger you'd probably pop the unit off the mount.
The power button however is on the end of the button panel and I often dislodge the speakerphone while trying to turn it on, usually while I'm driving. The metal plate it mounts to has grooves for the magnets but it easily slips out of them and it is hard to find them again; when out of the grooves the magnets slip from side to side fairly easily. It has never wound up in my lap so far, but the reason for having a speakerphone is to limit the distractions of using the phone while driving and fussing with the mounting is definitely distracting.
If you can deal with the mounting issues, I'd recommend it.

3 of 5 love the product Wednesday, March 18, 2009 Laurie from Bellmore, NY
Purchased two of the same product--I totally agree with Fred Brooks in reference to instructions we are not all computer/bluetooth savvy--lousy instructions
One of the Vizor units needs a "pin"?? which we do not have
and the car charger was missing parts (unable to use)need to contact to find out what this "pin" thing is all about
unit will still operate with solar power but I would like the charger for emergency use

5 of 5 Great Product. Grate Price. Lousy Instructions. Friday, March 06, 2009 Fred Brooks from Elverta, California, (Sacramento County)
I owned a Blue Ant car kit and hated it. You could connect 8 phones to it, but you had to manually drop one and connect to another if you wanted to switch. My technology challenged Wife and Daughter found this too difficult, and I found it too much trouble, so after a few weeks we stopped using it.
I saw this unit and thought it looked interesting but the description did not give me enough information to make a decision so I went to Iqua’s Web site and emailed them asking them if the unit would switch from one phone to another without having to do anything special. They responded in less than 24 hours and told me that if a phone was out of range for 6 minutes the unit would power itself down. Then when powered up it would search for the last phone it was connected to. If it did not find the last phone it was connected to it would search for any other phone it was paired with and connect to the first one it found.
This sounded great and the solar battery recharge was just an extra bonus. I ordered 2, one for each of our cars. When they arrived I got all 3 of our phones together and attempted to paired each of them to both units. I wasn’t having any success and the instructions were so vague and the print so small that they did little to help me figure it out. The instructions are written in about a dozen languages and the print was so small that an old fogy like me, (I’m 63), needed a magnifying glass to read them. Once I got the magnifying glass I saw where I had to hold the power button until the, “Connect”, light started blinking, then I could tell the phone to search and everything went without any problems.
I connected all 3 phones to both devices and tested them. At first I thought the unit was not finding a phone other than the last one it was connected to just like the Blue Ant, but finally I realized I just had to give it time. The unit will connect to the last phone it was connected to within about 10 seconds after powering it up, but with 3 phones paired to the device it takes a little over 1 minute for the phone to go through its process of realizing the last phone was not present and searching for, and connecting to a different phone. Once I realized this everything worked just as advertised.
To sum up... This device works great and does everything I want it to do, but if you are not Bluetooth savvy you may need to contact Iqua’s technical support to get it working, and you may have trouble doing so because I found no phone number anywhere on the box or in the instructions, (I used my magnifying glass to closely inspect them to no avail). I did find a Web address and found a warrantee phone number on their home page. I guess that if you called that number you would eventually get connected with someone to help, but I never tried. Overall this unit is twice the Blue Ant and for half the price. I strongly recommend it even with the poor instructions, (That is why I only gave it a 3 for ease of use).
