4 of 5 No dust cover... Tuesday, July 29, 2008 John from Columbus, Ohio
Item works great! Just as advertised. Only problem is there is no dustcover for the turntable so you end up where you put it back in the box it was shipped in or you let it sit out and gather dust.
Some of the units at ION's web site include dust covers but there is no optional cover for this model. Knowing what I know now I would have purchased a different model number with the dust cover. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Ion ITTUSB Turntable with USB Output Wednesday, June 18, 2008 Charlie from Blaine, MN
The unit shipped quickly & arrived on time. The turntable was very easy to assemble, and worked when turned on.
The programs were very easy to load, and worked very well as long as you interpeted the procedure correctly.
Mix Meister program was easier to get started then Audacity, but work well with practice. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Product Wednesday, January 02, 2008 tricia77r from Arlington Heights, IL
This turntable is great. Bought it for my dad, at a phenomenal price, and he loves it. He says it is easy to use. He changes his records into CD's and says it has more capabilities that we will have to try out later. The only disadvantage so far is that it takes time to transfer music-you have to listen to the entire record, but I don't think there is any other product that does it differently. Fast shipping and great service at buy.com. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Ion ITTUSB Turntable with USB Output Wednesday, January 02, 2008 julie from Appleton, WI
I rec'd a good deal on a very near and dear to my heart piece of equipment. I can't wait to "burn" all of my albums (child of the 60's and BIG into 80's music!!) I know it is going to take some time, but it is well worth saving the memories :) I have requests from family coming in to "burn" their albums as well. Was this review helpful?

My 88 year old dad was able to transfer a few of his ancient LPs onto CDs using his iMac, iTunes and Amadeus on Christmas Day when we gave it to him. I wouldn't bother with the software that comes with the turntable, it's worth the $40 extra to get Amadeus. We all had a blast listening to an old birdwatching record, the Ink Spots and some odd recordings that are no longer available and we were even able to eliminate some of the louder crackles and pops. Good product, great price and it arrived 1 day earlier than anticipated. Have always had good results the few times I have used Buy.com. The Ion turntable is really neat and easy to use when using the EZ Vinyl Convertor software. However, forget using the Audacity software unless you have a degree in program engineering. Overall a great product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 ION Turntable - great Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Nancy Stultz from Millerstown, PA
The turntable was great and arrived about 7 days after I order (did not request overnight). It was easy to use has has worked great. The only recommendation that I would tell people is to really clean those old records as the needle will get dirty. I used cd/recorder cleaner, then electronics cleaner and of course canned air. I've done lots of old 45 and 33's so I'm very happy with the product. Careful with the software, it isn't hard to use, just tricky Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great Way to Rescue my Old LP's Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Lewis from Boca Raton, FL
Easy to set up and to use. Software enabled conversion of individual tracks or whole side of an LP to mp3 or wav files for burning CDs or loading on Ipod. The only criticisms I have is that the stereo separation isn't as good as I had hoped, and a dust cover would have been nice to have. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Better than expected Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Manassas, VA
This turntable was easier to use and did a better job than I was expecting. For the price, it is GREAT. It does not filter out every scratch, but it does a pretty good job. The only drawback is that converting the albums is time consuming, but that is not necessarily the fault of the equipment. I don't know what it would cost to have my albums "professionally" transfered, but it has to be much more than using this machine. Was this review helpful?

This turntable was just as described. I was able to digitize my records with no problems, and import the mp3 files to my ipod. The Audacity software works well, although it took some time to figure out how to use it. Overall, a great product! Was this review helpful?

Well.... the unit itself is very nice. The arm could use a pick up rather than using a finger and I was surprised it didn't come with a dust cover. Also being a wee bit digitally challenged (as may be many vinyl era people) I'd though/hoped I'd just spin up an LP and by some miracle it would be transformed into that CD I'd placed in the laptop. Nope.... you must install a program named Audacity (included) and learn the dance. Audacity is actually a very neat program for those that wish to seriously manipulate sounds but a little much for the person that wants to simply transform vinyl to CDs. For the basic download and clean up the learning curve isn't too bad but then you must understand another more tricky thing called "file management" another digital challenge for some old timers. Once you understand file management you "Save" the "album file" which store it in your computer. Then must use another program to locate the album file and "burn' the CD. For me this is more difficult than Audacity as I have at least 3 programs that seem to compete for the right to do this. Confusing. After 2 tutorials my sucess was due more to luck and stumbling through a third program that was the most insistent and also worked. However the final product it pretty good, better then the vinyl. It's just takes a bunch of steps in the computer that require file management knowledge and take time. Oh.. you can download the 33 1/3 vinyl at 45 RPM and Audactiy can convert it back to 33 1/3 to speed the process up hich when transfering a stack really speeds things up more than you'd think.... but it still takes time. Would I buy again.... I'd try to determine if there were a quicker transfer program that did the clean up/burn steps more directly/automatically thus reducing my need for digital savey and input. I know this would reduce/eliminate most of the neat functions of Audacity however I'm just wanting to transfer my vinyl, not become a sound engineer. Plus I'd look for a unit with a dust cover and pick up for the arm. But barring that I'd buy it again, I'm just glad there's a way to transfer my collection (10,000+) to CD. For those more more into manipulating sound and playing with comuter programs this unit combined with Audacity is danged nice. Was this review helpful?

Easy to use and produces excellent mp3's. Had to relocate several items on my desk to accommodate it's relatively large size. Was this review helpful?

The hardware allows you to move the vinal to digital. Remember it has to be real time. Then you have to separate and name the files. It's a few hours to do an album, but the software (audacity) is easy and makes "cleaning" the audio thorough and easy.
I like it a lot but given the time it takes I may not use it as much as I thought I would. Was this review helpful?

This turntable was acquired to enable transfer of my collection of LP records to CD. The USB connection capability made this process significantly easier that any other approach would have been. This unit functions as expected. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I recommend it to anyone wishing to make a similar "Vinyl to CD" transfer. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy to use. Monday, August 06, 2007 Bob Batey from Batavia, IL.
The turntable is easy to setup and to use. It doesn't skip and the sound is good. I haven't had a chance yet to explore the software other than simply downloading a record to the computr. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The only way to archive your LPs Monday, June 25, 2007 A Customer from Farmington, MI
Finally a turntable that elemenates the need for the stereo in burning LPs to CD. Setup was direct and simple. I plugged it in,installed the Audacity software and started burning my LPs straight to the computer.
Make sure you've got plenty of disk space to store the projects or be prepared to clean them off after you burn them to CD. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Exceeded expectations Friday, June 22, 2007 Mark L from Wichita, KS
What a wonderful blend of old and new technology! Easy to install and use, with excellent and very detailed instructions. Setting up the software was a breeze, and using it is a lot of fun. I'm tripping down memory lane, preserving my collection of music from the 70's and 80's and making it all so much more convenient to listen to. Sound quality is excellent. Highly recommend. A USB turntable table that records directly to your PC or Mac -- what a great idea, should have come out about 15 or 20 years ago. A few significant caveats: the turntable does not come with a dust cover, so you will have to find something to cover it or your records are going to pick up dust from this player. There is also no cue arm lift to raise and lower the needle, so you basically have to be very careful and raise or lower the needle with your hand rather than doing it gently as with most turntables. The manufacturer recommends placing the needle on the record before the turntable spins, then engage the platter. The belt on this device is also cheap, no more than a rubber band. Comes with a needle, a spindle insert for 45 RPM singles, and the free Audacity audio software which works well, or you can use any other USB recording software. A felt platter pad lets you do scratch mixing. Overall, worth the money, but it could be better. Was this review helpful?
