5 of 5 Iomega Zip Drive Wednesday, July 30, 2008 A Customer from Charlotte, NC
Easy to get started. I was up and running within 5 minutes of connecting. Great Deal! If you have the 100mb Disks, this works great. Was this review helpful?

Works as described! Good buy! If you have the older 100 megbyte ZIP diskettes make sure you purchase this product. Was this review helpful?

Our office uses 3 of these external USB Zips, switching around
on both new and old PC's that have various operating systems and that don't have or don't require the expense of an internal Zip drive. Each operating system has its own, specific installation procedure (WinXP being the most absurd -- this is Microsoft's fault, not Iomega's). Good speed for a USB unit, esay to use and switch in and out of office PC's and laptops. The small, rubber desktop attachment is a bit klutzy, tho, but often comes in handy. We did have to put small velcro tabs on these 3 drives, which does a better job than the rubber mount at holding things steady for one-handed use. As for using this or most other hardware with all versions of XP -- we solved that problem (and many other glitches) on 4 of our machines by removing XP. Several of our users who occasionally take these drives home also removed XP from their home PC's and had no further problems with any of their hardware. These drives have been handled quite a bit on a daily basis for months and used quite heavily, with no problems. Not as fast as an internal Zip, but much, much faster than the old external parallel-port units. Note that old Win95 will not accept multiple USB devices if this is installed (a Win95 problem, not a Zip problem). We use them on Win2K, Win98, and also on two old Win95's that have no mounting space for an internal Zip. Some of our Gateway W2K PC's have 2 CD drives, 1 DVD and 1 CD-RW; the USB Zip had no problems there. Was this review helpful?

Will not work with Windows XP home edition, even with upgraded software from Iomega/Adaptec. Is not compatible with other built in CD-RW units. Was this review helpful?
