5 of 5 great product Thursday, July 10, 2008 A Customer from Lancaster, PA
This was a great product. I had no problem getting it started. It does tend to get hot rather quickly, but over all I really enjoy it. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this hard drive at the end of January. When I went to use it today (5/4/2008), it could not be detected by either one of my laptops. I am very disappointed with it that it has already stopped working. Troubleshooting it showed that any attempts to use this device have failed. Was this review helpful?

After looking long and hard for a good external harddrive for a good price, I found this one. Despite some negative reviews from people who for some reason had a bad experience, I couldnt pass up on this quality, inexpensive drive.
Ive had it for a few months now, and its great. Im not a hardcore computer person, just a guy who wanted all his school docs, pictures, thousands of songs, and movies to be backed up & to help my laptop run faster... And this product does that. Its easy to use.. (just plug up and go).. has an "on/off" switch (which is convenient).. Its very sleak in design and suprisingly compact (saving a lot of desk space).. and most importantly.. it works!
I think its a good product.. especially for people who are first time harddrive users. It does what its supposed to do: back up files & provide extra space for your computer. Iomega is a good brand. Good warranty too. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Reliable backup and retrieval medium Monday, February 25, 2008 Paul Lucier from Hopkinton, MA
We use several of these units for performing test machine backups. Last week one of our machines lost some data, but we had a Norton Ghost image for this machine on one of these Iomega drives, and successfully recovered all of our data.
Reliable storage and data recovery are the predominant issues when conosidering storage solutions. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Has Plenty of storage, but... Thursday, February 21, 2008 Hojo from Severn, MD
For the time in which I purchased this drive, the price was very good. The drive has a decent amount of space and fills my needs for which I bought it for. My issue with this drive is that it can run a little hot after 3-4 hours of running. The drive does not cool too well. Fortunately, I very rarely keep the drive on for more than 2 hours. 5 of 5 Surprised and happy. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 ResDog from Los Angeles
I've been through a LOT of external harddrives lately, and I'm happy to say this one is the best so far. It now has a perm position connected to my PS3 to hold all of my videos and pics now.
I'm very happy! Was this review helpful?

After having destroyed 2 Seagate FreeAgent drives in a couple weeks I'm happy to report that this drive is still alive. The Seagate's tall and topple-friendly structure, plus being plastic, would cause it to fall over and the drives died instantly. This Iomega drive is much heavier, made of metal, and - what a concept - lies flat on the table instead of balancing on it's short end. End result is this drive stays put.

Aside from being idiot-proof I had no problems connecting it to my laptop, which recognizes it very quickly. Write speed has been very good, from my seat-of-the-pants comparison I've been able to copy, move, and rip audio files to the drive considerably faster than the Seagate (for the little time I was able to use it).

As if the two positives above weren't enough, I also paid less for this 750GB drive than I did for either of the Seagate 500GB drives. And I think it's a great looking drive. The case is brushed aluminum, feels nice and cool to the touch, and looks very clean and more expensive than its plastic counterparts. It's one of the few computer accessories I don't mind leaving on my desk all the time. Was this review helpful?

The product was defective right out of the box. After wasting hours with Iomego in an online chat and on the phone (since Buy.com required that I work with the venor), they issued an RMA. Now I have to pay shipping to get a brand new product replaced. I have not heard from them since I shipped it.
I am willing to consider that I just received a single bad product, but the terrible service was inexcusable. I will not buy from Iomega again, regardless of price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Choice Monday, February 18, 2008 A Customer from Macomb, IL
The drive arrived ontime and in good condition. The case is aluminum and attractive. It can be placed upright or flat. It does get somewhat warm. Noise during access is fairly low. I have mine attached to an OSD Neuros for media delivery (primarily movies) and have not noticed any noise during movie playback. Transfer speeds are good and work well for media streaming. 4 of 5 Large and Easy to Use Sunday, February 17, 2008 A Customer from Birmingham, AL
This disk is massive and the deal i got was impressive (less than $.20/gb for an external.. pretty great). I haven't had the chance to run an benchmarks, but it seems to be a bit slow. This could be due to the usb 2.0 hub I have. Overall, I'm quite satisfied though. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great reliable local backup solution Wednesday, February 13, 2008 Paul Lucier from Hopkinton, MA
We use these for performing backups on our servers and test environment for a small software company. They have performed reliably, even in restoration of data and operating systems in the event of catastrophic loss (which has only happened once to date, thankfully). Was this review helpful?

I got it yesterday and it indicates 698 GB instead of 750GB. it does not included the CD for backup software. It only come with the external hard drive. Lucky, it is plug and play. Otherwise, it must be return. Was this review helpful?
