Iomega ScreenPlay Pro HD 1TB USB 2.0/AV Multimedia External Hard Drive - 34151 - Plug into your TV to experience all of your stored digital media on your flat screen TV

This product is capable of playing a lot of video types and functions as what it is for. The transfer rate over USB is fast and better than the other external 1TB drives that I have. One thing I like about is that it generates less heat and doesn't get hot at all after several hours of transfering approximately 500GB. Only one complain that I have so far is that it doesn't have the search capability even in the same folder so if you have 100 files in a folder, you would have to manually go up and down the list to find it.

I bought this item last month and so far I'm not experiencing any problem yet. High-Def (1080i) movie works for me with auto HDMI, video recording is absolutely fantastic, file transfer is a little bit slow but I already expect this. The only thing that I would like to criticize with this product is its limitation with the supported wireless dongle. I hope this can be fixed by the IOMEGA support for their next release of firmware update. This product is very promising only if Iomega fix some of its limitation and small issues. Overall scale I'm perfectly satisfied.

This product works completely as indicated, however, with a little bit more effort on the interface this could have been MUCH better. The interface works from basic file structures, no alpha searches for ANYTHING . . . with 1TB of data it SHOULD have a way to search/sort or SOMETHING. We've resorted to playlists for the music which don't make up for the lack of search capabilities or even "jump to" based on an alpha list. Each time you’re done paying a music in a given folder, you return to the main screen you have to start at the top of your folder list ALL the time, it won't even "hold your place" where you were in the folders as a starting point. For the amount of space afforded even minimalist search capabilities should be there. We’ve put over 500 albums with over 350 artists thus far and it’s quite frustrating!

PROs: It works as they say. Play movies, music, view pictures. I have only used ISO and VSO for movies and they work great; 5.1 Dolby Digital via it's Coaxial Digital Output. Awesome picture via it's RGB Component connection. The menu are not to die for, they could be better, but we can live with it. CONs: NETWORK. Wow, what a shocker. 10/100 that actually works at 23kb at it's best. So imagine, copy/move a 4GB file ISO and sit here for an hour. So, use the USB which performs like it should. The bad thing is having to disconnect everything every time I need to copy/move something over since the Screenplay Pro is next to my TV, of course, and my computer is in my home-office, away from my TV, of course (that is the reason to buy this product) I wouldn't use it as a NAS drive since the performance is so poor via network. SUMMARY: I would buy it for what it is, a Multimedia drive, not as a NAS drive which is VERY short of being since the network performance is so poor.

The setup of the Pro HD was easy. I had to update its firmware though. There were steps mentioned on the Iomega support site and the upgrade took only a few minutes. The TV interface is very basic and is difficult to read. Also the big drawback for me is that it does not play MOV files. Though MOV is listed on the file formats it can play, the Pro HD freezes when I try to play a MOV file. There are other players that you might want to check out before buying this one.
