5 of 5 Simple & Effective Thursday, December 27, 2007 Don Baun from Pittsburgh, PA
I found the drive works just fine, and has been serving me well since I first connected it.
I haven't done any performance testing, but have no reason to be dissatisfied with it. The device worked right out of the box, and was a great deal. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Iomega 320 GB drive Tuesday, September 25, 2007 nwilliams from Saline, MI
I needed a storage resource for my film based slides that I am in the process of copying into a digital format. This item from Iomega was priced right and from the specs would meet my requirements. Out-of-the-box the unit set up in minimal time (it is linked to a Dell 4400 desktop). The design is attractive and it takes up little space on my desk. Setting up files and folders was standard practice. Write/read speed is excellent. It interfaces well with my software and the film scanner. I am satisfied with its overall performance. 5 of 5 Nice Drive Monday, August 27, 2007 Kevin W from Brandon, MS
I really like the looks of this unit. Works great for me. Mine also had a Seagate pata drive inside it. It should last a long time. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works as advertised Monday, August 27, 2007 Mike P. from Snow Hill, NC
What can I say, it's a USB ext HDD.
Plug it in, turn it on. Windows finds it and installs the drivers.
Comes pre-formatted FAT32 for windows. Reformat NTFS if desired.
Transfer speeds seem typical for USB 2.0, haven't had any trouble with it yet.
Works fine as additional storage over network to be streamed to XBMC (Xbox Media Center). No slowdowns or hiccups noticed during playback of audio or video over wired ethernet connection.
Note: I'm not implying that this unit has an ethernet connection, which is does not, merely that the USB interface doesn't seem to slow down transfers to/from this device over a LAN connection.
The only 'con' I can think of is that the blue LED status light on the front is BRIGHT. It could be a bit annoying if you play games or watch movies in a dark room. Just turn the unit around so it faces away from you if it's a problem. :) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Iomega Limited Edition 320GB USB 2.0 External Hard Wednesday, August 08, 2007 A Customer from Southeast Missouri
An affordable unit for backup which has also turned into a convenient tool for moving large amounts of files between computers.
Other reviews have mentioned problems with heat . . . not a problem. Does feel warm to touch when running, but has not gotten hot.
Now, if it just came up with some backup software . . .

5 of 5 Iomega 250 Gig External Drive Tuesday, August 07, 2007 Rich Davis from Tempe, Arizona
I have been using my Iomega drive now for about a month. I use it for data storage & backup, and it has been a seemless integration into my system. It was plug and play, and I haven't looked back once. I am pleased with this device. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Very Satisfied Tuesday, August 07, 2007 A Customer from Boise, Idaho
These drives were at a special sale price in July and I bought two of them. We have lots of digital photos that need back up from our laptops and desktops at home. These external USB drives are an excellent solution for this purpose. My drives worked first time right out of the box. No problems at all with speed or function! I'd highly recommend the Iomega External Drives. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works as advertised Tuesday, August 07, 2007 elmojo from Snow Hill, NC
What to say?
It's a USB hard drive.
1) It's fairly fast - no noticeable lag over internal drive
2) It looks nice - The brushed metal casing is a step-up from other plastic external HDDs
3) The blue LED flashes on activity
4) No drivers to install
Overall very happy, would buy again.

5 of 5 good value, functional product Monday, August 06, 2007 A Customer from Baltimore, MD
I purchased two of these drives when they went on sale for around 60 dollars each. The drive has about 298 GB of free space, is extremely quiet, and simple plug-n-play setup, with fast transfer speed using USB2.0. I was able to transfer about 25 GB of MP3 in no time at all. While running the device on Ubuntu 7.04, I have had an issue ejecting the device. When pulling out the USB cable from the port, I receive a message regarding unsafe ejection of the device, but when using the EJECT option on the desktop-based device icon for the drive, I receive a message that the drive cannot be removed.
I'm using the other one on a machine running Windows XP, SP2 and have had no similar problems, and all the positive attributes listed above
Fantastic Buy.com service - the drives arrived within 72 hours. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 What I needed!! Monday, August 06, 2007 A Customer from Roanoke, VA
I own my own business and being able to backup all my files and take them to my home for safe keeps is great. Installation was quick and easy, just plug it in and Windows XP installed all the drivers needed. Every Iomega product I have ever owned has lasted for a long time, so I expect I will get the same out of this. I received exactly what I ordered and what I expected to get. Thanks Buy.com for the quick delivery and quality buy. Will order from Buy.com again. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Iomega External HDs Monday, August 06, 2007 Garland C from Helper UT
First of all, I have several Iomegas, 40GB, 250GB, 320GB, and they all are Plug and Go-to-Work. I have learned to trust the name, Iomega. Just today, I had 11 Photo DVDs that an Apple Laptop would not read. With another laptop and Vista Home Premium, I read the DVDs to my new 320GB, then used it as source to download to the Apple. The pictures were sharp and crisp on my 37-in HDTV wired to the Apple as a monitor. Now I have a spare back-up for these precious photos. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Big but good Sunday, August 05, 2007 Scott from Birmingham, Alabama
IT was plug and play alll the way. Very easy to use. The size is a surprise. It's larger and heavier than I had expected. It is still portable but the weight and size would make it difficult to slide into a brief or laptop case. For my puposes, I needed addidtional storage for my desktop and the Iomega 320gb external hard drive is a perfect fit. The transfer speed is good and, of course, the shear size of the memory capacity gave me eactly the off the primary hard drive storage I needed to free up my desk tops memory. 3 of 5 Designed by thermally impaired engineer Sunday, August 05, 2007 broy from Sunnyvale, CA
The Seagate drive inside the case is quiet. The power supply is a walwart 12 V only lightweight (great) and it works well.
However - there is a major flaw - the drive and the aluminum case have a few mm air gap between them (like other cheap drive cases). When the air gap is less then 5 mm, air acts as insulator since convection currents can no longer get set up.
The result - the case feels cool.
The drive runs hot !!!

5 of 5 Excellent! Sunday, August 05, 2007 A Customer from Northport, NY
This was an excellent deal. The drive is quite spacious and at the (sale) price I got it it at made it the right choice. Installed flawlessly (XP) and transfers files fast. Quiet. Slightly warm to the touch if left on for hours (have yet to meet an external HD that isn't). Just turn it off if you worry about that. Highly recommend. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great product! Easy to use. Sunday, August 05, 2007 A Customer from West Chester, PA
Great product.
1. Attractive
2. Windows XP automatically set up this drive for use. Some other drives I have purchased were difficult to set up.
3. The case did NOT get hot while the drive was in heavy use. Another, different, external drive got very hot.
Easy to use, with no problems; that's a great product!
Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Hard drive! Saturday, August 04, 2007 A Customer from Cincinnati, OH
This is a great hard drive.... The only recommendation I would make is to make sure you have a usb 2.0 port on your PC. Although this will work with the old 1.0 usb port, it is much slower. This isn't a comment about this specific product, just in general. I would highly recommend this product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Hassle-free installation and operation Saturday, August 04, 2007 A.F.M. from Collingswood, NJ
Installing and using this external hard drive was easy. With the XP operating system, it took a short period (probably less than 30 seconds) for my computer to recognize the new hardware. Once it was recognized, backing up files was easy as drag-and-drop. I only have the unit on when I do back-up so if it generates excessive heat, I do not notice it. That is a non-issue for me. 5 of 5 Nice Saturday, August 04, 2007 A Customer from Nashville, TN
Nice: small, quiet, stylish, robust. I like it more than my Western Digital MyBook. It has a clip-on stand for standing it on it's side (landscape orientation). Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Worth the Money! Saturday, August 04, 2007 PJB from Van Buren, AR
For someone who is technologically challenged, (or those that aren't), this is a great unit. I bought it to archive video for my Mac, which was loaded down and maxed out. It was a snap to set up, truly plug and play, and I just dragged the icons for the videos in, and they transferred. I can open them and play them from the Iomega Drive icon, and save space on my computer. Pretty cool! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Iomega Limited Edition 320GB USB 2.0 External Hard Thursday, July 05, 2007 Rond from Rockville, MD
I needed to off load a lot of files from my old computer to have access with a new computer. This really made it a lot easier to do. Even though it was a standard USB, it really fit the bill. It also provides the flexibility of more storage without having to completely re-load the files. True "plug 'n go" from a recognizable manufacturer that's been around for years. Nice product with a GREAT price!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Quiet, cool, loads of space, easy to use Thursday, June 28, 2007 A Customer from Chicago IL
Excellent value for money ($70). Very quiet. Seems to stay nice 'n' cool, although I've only had it just over an hour, during which time I've thrown just over 60GB onto it (20,000 files). Not sure how that stacks up speed-wise, but once I'm done moving files between PCs, it'll serve as a backup, so speed is not of great concern then. Seems fast enough to me, regardless. Hard drive works great. Just plug it in to the usb port and start using it. No problems to date. Kind of larger than I expected but it a desktop unit and not a portable one. At 320 GIGS it holds a lot of data. Should be enough for most normal home office needs.
I recommend the unit. I bought 2 of them. Was this review helpful?

The USB Iomega external drive is working with Microsoft Server 2000 and XP Pro. The speed of uploads for saving files is excellent. Installation took about two minutes without any hitches. I recommend this product for those looking to backup important data. Was this review helpful?

Setup went just as it was supposed to. Plug it in and wait for Windows XP to recognize it. Did a quick format to NFTS by right clicking on the drive and selecting "format". That took less than a minute. Have had it on for several hours now, and it gets warm but not hot as mentioned by someone else. Hardly any noise at all, and it transferred 20 GB in about 15 minutes. These are first impressions only, but I see no reason not to buy this drive. Was this review helpful?

The iomega drive is a beautifully designed product. It goes well with the decor. The drive is very fast and there was NO problem installing it. Two things which one should take into account before the purchase.
1. The drive receives its power supply from a power adapter. It DOES NOT receive power from the USB port which means there are two wires you have to deal with.
2. The drive gets hot if it is left running for a while. It hasn't shown any problems, but it has made me a bit uneasy. I switch it off if I don't need it!
Good Value, Very Fast And Very HOT literally! Was this review helpful?

The Iomega drives are outstanding in performance. I have purchased numerous items from buy.com and have always been pleased with the speedy order processing, delivery and product quality being exactly as represented.

I purchased an Iomega 320gig external hard drive from Buy.com. I have always had a good experience with Buy.Com's service and products. I was so pleased with my first external hard drive I bought another one.
I probably put 5 or 6 gigs on a hard drive a week. It is a convenient and safe way to store data.
Just plug it in and it works. No problem at all.
In time, I am sure the prices will drop more, but it is a good value now Was this review helpful?

Not very bulky. Nice look. You can either lay it flat on your desk or prop it upright using the stand. Data transfer speed is decent. Silent operation.
Cons - doesnt disconnect properly when you try to do so like disconnecting any USB device. To be on the safe side, I turn off my laptop and disconnect. It probably would disconnect if you wait for a while, but I dont have that much patience! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Product for the Price Thursday, October 05, 2006 Justin from Nipomo CA
This is a great product. It is simple to hook up and to use. Nice size and fitts in tight places for the person on the go. Only draw back is that it says 320 G Hard Drive but when hooked up is only has a storage compacity of 298 G. so you loose 22 Gigs. I would recomend this to my friends and bussiness partners. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Better than expected. Thursday, October 05, 2006 A Customer from Arlington, TX
Really plug and play! Very silent! Smaller and lighter than I thought. It does have less memory than the 320GB. The 298GB seem enough though. Was this review helpful?

After Losing all my irreplaceable photo's, because of a virus, getting an external hard drive is the answer, not only can I be secure with my new photos, but, it's portable and plug and play convenient. So if there is a fire, I just grab my cat and hard drive and run! The rest I can replace. Why didn't I think of this before? Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great and a super price! Thursday, October 05, 2006 PH from New York
Worked right out of the box. The enclosure does look different than the one pictured (go to Iomega's website to see what it really looks like) but no problem as it still looks nice. I bought this not just because of the rebate offer available at the time, which made this an absolute bargain, but because I have another external HD from Iomega that's worked flawlessly for me for years. So I felt comfortable buying the same brand. What a deal! Was this review helpful? Click here to see all 52 reviews
