5 of 5 Worth the money Saturday, August 29, 2009
    TechWiz from Providence, RI

The device worked like a charm from the moment I plugged it in without even needing that bundled software which I heard from another site was terrible anyway. I haven't personally used it but it's not really necessary unless you want some SERIOUSLY specific tasks out of it like Time Machine for OS X or single mount point for the whole device for either Windows or OS X and the print server seems to work just fine without the software but the software might make things a little easier(?). The disk seems to be on 24/7 spinning the entire time and the fan (or perhaps the drive as well) make this odd whine that is only really audible from close up. As for speed, it can keep up with 100TX connections but I have not personally set up a 1000TX (Gigabit) connection with it yet. Media serving isn't all that great (unless its my router) because it tends to lag and DNLA locks up and simply refuses to work at times, though disconnecting from the device fixes that problem. Overall I'd say its well worth every cent unless you want it specifically for media streaming purposes.

3 of 5 Not a real 'media' server, print server Thursday, June 18, 2009
    A Customer from Folkston, GA
If you're going to use this with a wireless media device, forget using it as a server. Iomega responds to complaints about gaps in playback (even with merely audio tracks) by saying it doesn't have a large enough processor to be a media server. Wish they would rename the product! Also, printing slows down to a crawl - even with wired network computers - when you try to use it as a network print server. Makes a nice back-up drive, and looks great - just don't believe their hype.

    5 of 5 Love it! Tuesday, June 16, 2009
    A Customer from New Jersey
It took me a little bit to set up as documentation was sparse but once I did it works wonderfully well with all of my other computers - especially love the itunes server capability! Finish is beautiful with brushed aluminum and not plastic. Form factor is perfect to fit on desk and not take up space.

4 of 5 Iomega 1TB Home Media Network Hard Drive Monday, May 11, 2009
    Nancy Reynolds from Richmond, VA
I have owned this drive for close to three months now. I am backing up three computers with it; 2 vistas and one XP machine. The drive works well. It runs smoothly and does not get hot due to the built-in fan. The software that comes with it is another issue. All my computers were experiencing blue screens and other major issues while running the Retrospect Express that comes on the disk. After I downloaded the Retrospect 7.6 from the Iomega website, all my issues were resolved and the drive and software work pretty smoothly. Iomega also provides online tutorials for the Retrospect 7.6 which I found extremely helpful. Overall, I would say it is a good buy for the money. I would have given a higher rating had it not been for the initial software issues.

    5 of 5 Works Great Monday, May 04, 2009
    Scott from Pennsylvania
I got this primarily for storage and to stream movies to my XBox. The XBox recognized it right away, and it has performed excellent in that capacity. I have it on my network, and it plays nice with everything else. I also have my printer plugged into the usb and it set up nicely as a network printer. My only problem is with the transfer speeds. It is rather slow. I do have an older 10/100 router in the network, so that may be some of the problem, but I think I was getting about 5-6 MB/s. My PC has a Gigabit ethernet card and this claims the same, so I am hoping it is the router. At that speed, it took a while to load it up with movies, but I have had no problem streaming to my XBox, so the speed issue has no effect there. All in all, it has performed exactly as I hoped it would.
