1 of 5 Failed just when I needed it! Tuesday, July 17, 2007
    A Customer from Dallas, TX

This seemed to work fine for a couple of months ... I was using it to back up my laptop hard drive. Then, just when I needed it most - to restore some lost files - the unit failed. It could no longer be recognized by Windows. WHen I called iomega for support, I was told that it could not be repaired and I would have to get a new one.

5 of 5 An excellent choice for backing-up critical data Thursday, May 26, 2005
    Wayne from Coppell, TX
I've had this hard disk for three months and it works flawlessly. Fast, quite, and dependable. I also like the Iomega Back-up software. It installed quickly and cleanly in XP-SP2.

5 of 5 Excellent Value for money Friday, December 31, 2004
    Saby from NJ
I am absolutely delighted with this purchase, as it provides extremely cost effective disaster recovery & backup. Buy.com had the lowest prices, and was extremely prompt even with the free shipping - Ordered on Dec 28th, received the drive on Dec 31st!! Unfortunately as a previous reviewer have pointed out, the speeds can be VERY slow with older USB ports (typically found as standard on most PC's made earlier than 1992?). I just ordered a PCI IOGEAR 4 port USB 2.0 from buy.com so speed should not be an issue once I get it.

5 of 5 Happy with the Iomega drive Wednesday, December 22, 2004
A Customer from Prairie Village, KS
I purchased one of these for a client and am very satisfied with the drive. Installation was easy on Windows XP - although I got a STOP error when restarting (a conflict with the Intel SATA RAID controller). I upgraded the Intel driver and haven't had a problem since. The automatic backup software is an easy, no frills method of backing up important data to the drive. It doesn't compress the data so restoring files is simply a matter of browsing for the backed up file(s) using Windows Explorer and then copying and pasting. It also includes Norton Ghost 2003 which makes it simple to image the boot drive to the Iomega drive in case the boot drive fails. I didn't notice a performance problem as the previous review suggests - seemed to be comparable to other external USB drives I've installed. I'm guessing he was connected to a USB 1.1 port instead of a high speed port. The 25MB/s transfer rate (which is a little lower than other drives) means that you could theoretically transfer an entire 4.7GB DVD to the drive in a little over 3 minutes (25MB/s = 1,500MB/minute). I'd recommend this drive - and am purchasing one for another client now.

2 of 5 How slow can you go??! Thursday, November 18, 2004
    Joe from San Antonio
If you don't notice the technical specs for this one (like me) you'll probably end up sending it back as well. The MAX DATA TRANSFER RATE is 25MB/s which is slow slow slow. It takes over 2 hours to copy data from one DVD to or from this harddrive. Try to find something else that runs a bit faster.
