5 of 5 Great Solution to My Problem Wednesday, March 18, 2009 A Customer from Hershey, PA
I own a Dell slimline computer, which has only a single video port for my monitor. I bought this device, installed it, attached my additional monitor, and am now able to use two of them as I develop and test software.
It is a relatively inexpensive solution with great results. Was this review helpful?

This is a great product if you want solely to extend your desktop for daily cpu use. If you are expecting to game or complete other highly demanding video output programs, this may not work for you. Right out of the box, it was up and running in less than 5 min without any resolution or color degradation. I am extremely pleased with the quality and price of this product and am recommending it all my friends. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A few configuration issues, but works well Monday, March 24, 2008 A Customer from Algonquin, IL
I used this device to add a third monitor to the docked configuration of an HP 8510W laptop. The drivers on the IO Gear site were newer, so I selected them instead of the ones contained on the CD. It initially installed fine but on a subsequent reboot it came up mirroring the main display, requiring a reconfiguration of display properties. On another restart it locked itself into 60Hz mode with the noticeable flicker that is associated with this refresh rate. It would not permit me to select a higher refresh reate. I noticed the IO Gear driver seems to load and reconfigure itself after login, some time after the two primary displays are active. I did two things that may have helped the situation. I let the computer fully boot (no disk activity) after power up but before logging in. This allowed me to again fully adjust the resolution and refresh. I then defined a "docked configuration" hardware profile. When I boot up I select this docked profile and wait until disk activity ceases before logging in. It has worked fine when following these steps.
I run it as an extended desktop, 1280x1024 resolution, 32 bits per pixel, 70 Hz refresh. I use the display primarily for business applications and notice no performance problems that I've seen reported in high bandwidth applications.
I'm very happy with the product.

5 of 5 Does what it is supposed to do - very well Saturday, December 01, 2007 AndyN from Sarasota, FL
I bought this "USB VGA" card to add to my cache of road warrior widgets. My intended use is when i need to give a presentation with my laptop AND want to use PowerPoint's "presenter" mode - which requires two screens. I use my laptop screen to display my speaker notes and the USB VGA widget to drive the audience projector. In this configuration, this works great.
This widget requires installing a driver before use - I grabbed the latest one from the IOGEAR site, installed, and the device fired right up. Using a tray icon, you can either have it duplicate what is on the main display or have it treated as a second display (mouse from one display to the other). I find the USB driver is unobtrusive - if the widget is not plugged in, the driver does not appear and does not get in the way - so I installed the driver on my main system as well, just in case I ever want to have a temporary second display.
So, bottom line, does what it says it does, appears to have no bad habits, performs well, and is very flexible. This widget earns a place in my road warrior bag! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 TOTAL SIMPLICITY Tuesday, July 03, 2007 mbw1012 from Troy, NY
I bought this for my computer at work. Because I don't own it I couldn't open the case to install a second video card. However, I work with several applications open at the same time and really wanted to use two monitors. Saw this item on Buy.com and gave it a try. It installed on an XP machine with 256 ram in just minutes. Plug in the USB and attach the second monitor and I was ready to go. It could not be simpler. Works great. My job is so much easier now with two monitors. Was this review helpful?
