5 of 5 works fine Thursday, July 17, 2008 A Customer from Ada, Michigan
small, lightweight, works great
the caps seem a bit loose and might eventually fall off, but they haven't so far Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 protective caps are too loose Tuesday, September 25, 2007 A Customer from Phila PA
Reader performs ok but the end protective caps are too loose and fall off Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A Nice Reader Saturday, March 17, 2007 Jim F. from Atlanta, GA
Especially for the price, this is a nice little SD card reader. Speed is good, and it is very compact and looks a lot like the pricier flash memory devices. I use my old 1GB SD card in this and it makes for a handy flash memory device. The only thing I can see that it lacks is a clip or ring to secure it to a nametag chain or shirt pocket, if you should care to carry your flash memory in that fashion. Otherwise, it is a handly little tool to have in the arsenal. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works great and very cheap Sunday, January 21, 2007 A Customer from Atlant, GA
This was easy to use and worked great. I couldn't beat the cost anywhere else either. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It respects the write-protect tab! Friday, January 05, 2007 A Customer from Richmond, KY
Most SD cards have a write-protect or lock tab (which can be useful to prevent virus infections, accidental file deletion, etc). I've discovered that some cheaper USB card readers ignore the setting of that tab, but this device (at least on Windows XP) obeys the write-protect setting. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works great! Tuesday, December 26, 2006 A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
I bought this because the built-in card reader on my laptop doesn't support high capacity SD cards. It works great with the transcend 4 GB SD card that I bought from buy.com and lets me transfer big files to use on my palm. Great product! Was this review helpful?

I have a digital photo frame that can accept just about any kind of digital card you can imagine. Problem is that whatever card I place in it the frame will read all of the pics on the card and it was hard to make a slide show of pics I wanted if all the pics I wanted weren't on the same card. The frame had no internal storage so it totally depended on card. I needed a way to put all the pics I wanted onto one card. This product was able to accomplish this for me very well. I plugged it in my computer and uploaded all the pics I wanted onto a dedicated card for my frame and was able to create the slide show I wanted. Worked perfectly and was a very inexpensive solution to my problem. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Needs a way to attach protective caps Tuesday, September 12, 2006 freelanm from Philadelphia, PA
Good way to store and transport your spare SD card. Since the protective caps are not hinged, there should be some way to attach them to the reader when it is plugged in to the USB port. Otherwise, they will eventually get lost. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good deal Thursday, August 31, 2006 A Customer from Little Rock, AR
I got this pretty cheap so I was not surprised that it is not very rugged. I have not had any problems with it in almost 6 months of use. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent product Thursday, August 24, 2006 A Customer from Roy, UT
After buying a new 4gig SD card I was surprised that none of our card readers were able to fully utilize it. I tried a few from local stores but they didn't work either, or at least not as advertised. If I buy a 4g card, I don't want to only use 4g of it.
I got this reader from Buy.com, plugged my card into it and as soon as I inserted it into a USB port, it was recognized. Formatting it to full capacity was also very easy. Almost as good, it looks and feels just like a flash drive, but with the advantage of being able to swap out the memory card. Was this review helpful?

This reader/writer is great…its compact and can store the SD card in the reader when traveling! Plug and go on Mac or PC. The reader is entirely plastic but for the price this is a great buy! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Compact and easy to use - Can't Lose Saturday, June 03, 2006 A Customer from Chicago, IL
I bought this to more effectively use my treo 650. Now I can have the best of both worlds. In windows media player I can just drag and drop to the SD card, pop it in my treo and listen using the built in Real Player. NICE. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great option instead of camera dock Tuesday, May 23, 2006 A Customer from Wendell, NC
Daughter's camera dock stopped working so we bought this to use as an alternative to transfer pictures. It transfers pictures quickly and is very inexpensive. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 2 GB Support, and Convenience! Tuesday, May 02, 2006 FLYingG0D from Glendale, AZ
I am glad I purchased this device! My other reader maxed out at 1 GB, and I recently purchased a few 2 GB SD cards. Luckily, I also sent for this little guy, and it reads my cards great! No problems! It sometimes has a hard time plugging into the USB slots, as the USB connector end is a little bulky, otherwise, it is cute, and simple. Claims to come with a CD, but I found none in the package. Did not need one, auto-detected in Windows XP. I have to say I really love the fact that it has end caps, however, the SD side is a little loose. Should not fall off easily though. Definatly looking to get a few more! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 nice alternative Monday, December 19, 2005 A Customer from Cleveland, OH
for those that already have a sd card from something like a digicam, this is great. just plug it in and go! fast, reliable, only thing is it's a little bit chunkier than a regular usb stick. Was this review helpful?

If you have a number of SD's memory cards. Then this is a good solution to reuse for data imaging storage and and transfer from your PC, digital camera, digital cam-corder, and other digital type devices. This is my second devices...since I have a number of extra SD memory cards. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Great Product Tuesday, August 16, 2005 A Customer from Sunnyvale, CA
This product is really good. It works like Flash drive with my 512mb SD card. But it is getting warm when use it for long time. If you want to manipulate the files or pics, better copy it to hard disk and do it. Was this review helpful?

This device works, and is low cost. However, the end caps are loose, and the one on the SD Card end is really loose. I fixed it with a small piece of clear tape applied to make the fit tigher. Won't be my main USB drive, but handy to read SD Cards. Was this review helpful?

This little guy has come in handy on many different occassions. I have an SD camera, mp3 player and fm transmitter so this thing is perfect for swapping files and best of all it utilizes all the SD memory I currently own and will expand as far as SD will allow. Great buy and very handy. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Buy Wednesday, July 06, 2005 John from Washington, DC
Really easy to use. Fast transfers. I think i might buy another one. My only complaint, and it's a very small one, is that one of the caps can be a bit loose and come off in my pocket. Overall-- it's a great purchase. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Value and very uselful Monday, July 04, 2005 A Customer from Marion, PA
I have found so many uses for this thing, from transfering images from my brothers digital camera, to transfering files to my pda, to loading my expansion card for my mp3 player, plus it can be just a usb pen drive as well. I would recommend this to anyone who has multiple SD Card devices. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Another Satisified Customer Tuesday, May 31, 2005 Amanda from SD County, CA
This reader/drive is compact, light, and easy to use. This removable, external drive is automically and instantly recognized by my computer's operating system. It's as easy as inserting a floppy disk into your computer. I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to go through the time and hassle of downloading pictures from your disk through applications/programs, wires, and cords that take up a lot of time and memory. 5 of 5 Very neat stuff Thursday, May 12, 2005 Abu Luqman from Euless, TX
Bought this one over regular flash drive as SD memory becoming so popular. Now, I can transfer digital picture of my Nikon 4100 direct into my laptop. No usage of battery power. Also, transfering anybody digital photo and data are more easier than before. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very handy card reader Thursday, April 21, 2005 Neil H. from Middletown, CT
This is the perfect accessory for the great majority of compact and ultracompact digital cameras now using SD cards. While there are many multi-slot readers that accept almost every imaginable type of card, those readers are relatively bulky and their versatility simply isn't important for the average digicam user. This device is incredibly light and compact, works perfectly, supports USB 2.0 speeds if you have a computer with 2.0, and at this price it's just foolish not to have one. It's invariably easier and quicker to use a USB card reader than to connect your camera to the computer to download images, and it saves needless waste of the camera's battery power too. Highly recommended! Was this review helpful?

I really like the small design. No-nonsense apporach to turning any SD card or MMC card into a flexible instant USB drive. I really like the fact that it will store the SD card inside and does not require cables etc.

Great little device that everyone should keep with them. Forget those limited use (and expensive) thumb drives - SD cards are way cheaper, and offer unlimited expandability! Always have a Palm or digital camera with you? Then you can just pull that SD card, pop it in the reader, and pop it in a PC. No drivers, almost instant access to the card (and USB 2.0 speeds). Or, you can just buy a card and leave it in there - the picture makes it look like it protrudes a little, but it doesn’t. In fact, the cover will still fit on if there’s a card in there. Holds the card firmly, but still easy to take out.
The only thing I would improve is the fit for the SD end cover. It’s a little loose, but the seam between that and the device is so smooth, I don’t think it will ever be a problem.
I bought a handful of these things – one for each car, one to put with my PC tools kit, one in my camera bag, and one in a jacket pocket. You never know when you’re gonna need a thumb drive, and this thing is tiny!!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works Well Saturday, April 09, 2005 jpdibease from Colorado Springs, CO
The Memory card holder works well.
It is smaller and handier than most USB card readers. I like it because as SD ram gets cheaper I can update the USB reader to a larger size.
My camera uses SD ram and that makes this all the more easy to carry. Transfering pictures without camera battery drain is a must.
The cover for the SD ram could be tighter as it is not firm.
Overall a great value! Was this review helpful?

I like simple as long as it works and this DOES work great! I was looking for a simple way for my wife to read her SD memory card from her camera in anyone's computer. The IOGear USB 2.0 Universal Memory Card Reader - Writer looked like the ticket.
I was suprised at how small this reader/writer was. It's design is so simple and easy to use, don't bother looking at the instructions...They aren't needed. I put the SD memory card in one end of the reader/writer and plugged the other into my USB port and the my computer recoginized it immediately. It was accessable just like any other drive on my computer. I could copy files to and from it. And at USB 2.0, it was lightening fast!
The IOGear USB 2.0 Universal Memory Card Reader - Writer is well worth the little money you pay for it. If you have access to SD or MMC flash memory cards, use it as an alternative to a jump drive. Use it to access and backup your SD/MMC memory cards in your Palm Pilot. Use it as I did for easy access to pictures on my digital camera's SD memory card.
Simple is great and it don't get much simplier than this. Fantastic product. Was this review helpful?
