5 of 5 Great low cost option! Tuesday, April 22, 2008
    A Customer from Bow, WA

It's true that this product will not transmit features from multimedia keyboards, such as the play, pause, skip, etc. buttons that control your music playback. Other that this, it works great! I originally bought this for a slightly different configuration. At my office, I have two computers: a desktop with one monitor that consistantly streams market information, and my laptop which drives two external monitors. I rarely need to access the desktop as I let it run all day long. However, when I did need to get to it, having the additional keyboard and mouse available was a pain. This product eliminated an additional setup from my desk. I even connected the sound from each computer through this device to my one set of speakers. The only drawback (and obvious now that I think about it) is I wanted to playback an audio file on the desktop and continue working on the laptop (when I switch back to the laptop, the sound goes with it). Even then, it solved a lot of problems, and my workspace is much cleaner!

4 of 5 Simple, small, just works! Wednesday, September 20, 2006
    Jeff from Ridgefield, Connecticut
This device connects a PS/2 (round connector) mouse and keyboard to two computers, converting them to a single USB connection (flat connector) that plugs into each of two computers. If you have PS/2 devices, this is perfect, but it's *not* what you want if you have a newer USB mouse or keyboard. -- Once connected, press the scroll-lock key twice, and you're looking at and controlling the other computer, press the key twice again, and back to the first. Compared to other larger and bulky KVM switches this one is tiny, essentially a cable with a larger than usual connector, which means it takes up no desk space. In addition, I'm successfully driving my monitor at 1600x1200 pixels from one of the computers, so the video handling is top notch. -- I do have one small problem. Putting one of the computers, a Mac, to sleep and getting it to stay asleep is tricky. When it's asleep, the mouse is still powered. The slighest move wakes the Mac up. I had to develop the trick of sleeping from the Apple menu and immediately pressing the scroll-lock key twice, turning the switch to the PC on the other connection so that mouse movements don't get sent to the Mac. A slight inconvenience, but it's the only problem I've had.

5 of 5 It just works Wednesday, September 13, 2006
A Customer from Aliso Viejo, CA
Easy to setup. Ready to use right out of the box. Now I can use my LCD as the monitor of my desktop and a secondary display of my laptop.

4 of 5 OK, but could have been much better Tuesday, September 12, 2006
A Customer from College Station, Texas
Good value, but the design is a bit flawed. First, I like the USB connectivity, as it makes it possible to work with my laptop that has only one PS2 port, and the sound switching is great, too. However, one glaring ommission is a USB port or two on the switch to accomodate USB mice and keyboards (easy since it all is converted to USB anyway). I am forced to use a USB to PS2 converter for my mouse, which brings me to my next point: the 3 ports are too close together. I had to force the USB/PS2 converter in at an angle(risky) and loosen the monitor cable to get them both in. It works, but the converter falls out easily if the switch is moved around.

    4 of 5 Easier than I thought Tuesday, September 12, 2006
    A Customer from Solano, CA
I had been looking for a KVM switch for awhile so when I saw the great price for this KVM I purchased it. I needed to connect a desktop running Windows XP SP2 and a desktop running Ubuntu Linux. I plugged both computers to the KVM (The directions were well laid out) turned the computers on and that was that. To switch between the computers one presses the scroll lock key twice. I didn't have to install any software. I had seen this KVM for about 30 to 40 dollars at Frys so I was very pleased with the purchase price (10 dollars after a rebate). I guess buy.com had a special sale on the KVM. I do wish companies did away with rebates or make them all electronic rebates for ease of filing one with the company. One feature that I wasn't expecting was audio support. This unit comes with an audio jack. I have a 6.1 speaker system so I just connected the green plug, going to the speakers, to the side of the KVM and then plugged the green plugs hard-wired to the KVM to each computer's audio card. Audio works fine for both desktops. So I would recommend this KVM switch.

5 of 5 Excellent Affordable Option Tuesday, September 12, 2006
    A Customer from Anaheim, CA
This device worked out great. It was simple to install and works without any software or drivers immediately upon installation. About the only issue that I have is that it would be nice to have an option to connect a USB mouse instead of PS/2. Also, the PS/2 ports are a little too close to the VGA port, forcing the PS/2 connectivity to go in at a slight angle.

5 of 5 Does the job! Tuesday, September 12, 2006
    Markad from Chandler, Arizona
This item replaced a much older, and bulkier, switch. It didn't seem to work at first but after a couple of reboots all has worked well (for over three weeks now). I now believe that was due to my computers installing the appropriate USB drivers. My favorite part is the audio capability. The older switch did not have that feature and I had two sets of speakers...My desktop is less cluttered now...Great buy.

    5 of 5 a best buy Monday, September 04, 2006
    aaron from state college, pa
the switch plugged in and worked perfectly without installing any drivers or anything on xp. the product feels solid and i would definately buy again. I havent tried the audio switch as I have a separate switch for that. The only problem i noticed is that my mouse has a usb to ps2 converter and it is a really tight fit into the switch (regardless, it fits)

    5 of 5 super Thursday, June 29, 2006
A Customer from North Wales, PA
I had been using a PS/2 KVM switch between my Inspiron 8000 laptop and my desktop. Over time, the PS/2 port on the laptop has become unreliable (mouse position drifts). Using an external mouse and keyboard via the single PS/2 port also requires a Y-adapter cable, which tends to be a nuisance. With this USB unit, I no longer need the PS/2 port. No more wandering mouse pointer and so much easier to plug in. Fantastic value.
