5 of 5 Good USB Hub/Card Reader Saturday, January 24, 2009
A Customer from Houston, TX

The Hub was easy to set up, just plug it into a power outlet, plug it into your computer and turn on your computer. My computer found the Hub, installed the drivers and it was up and running in no time. The card reader work with my CF card and the computer recognized everything that I plugged into the USB ports. I have no complaints with this Hub/Reader.

5 of 5 Perfect Solution Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Jaames from Henderson, NV
I was out of USB ports and needed a powered hub, this fit the bill perfectly while also adding a card reader into the mix. I just bought a new cell phone which uses the new Micro SD(HC) format for 4gb to 32gb cards, and at first I was afraid this wouldn't be compatible since the new format is not backwards compatible with older card readers, but it works perfectly! I am very pleased with this purchase.

4 of 5 1. The wrong plug was included. 2. Don't expect po Sunday, May 18, 2008
Lorelle from Tacoma, WA
The USB cord that was in the package was the wrong one for this unit. It has a much bigger plug than the jack on the unit itself. Luckily I had an extra one on hand that was the correct size (it's the one that fits my mp3 player and digital cameras). At first I thought the whole unit was defective, because 1) nothing lights up to show it's getting power and 2) Windows XP Pro didn't give me the standard "Hardware found" dialog box. But then I tried plugging in a Compact Flash card and voila! the light came on. And when I plugged my USB mouse into the unit, it works too. Summary: This is a great product, as long as you watch out for those minor deficiencies.

4 of 5 Hub a keeper, but not a HubbaHubba Wednesday, April 30, 2008
A Customer from Colorado Springs, CO
<b>GOOD:</b> This is a functional USB hub. The main USB hub inputs on the back are easily accessible, and the flash drive inputs and card reader slots on the front are handy (although I have not tested them). When laid on its side as it is meant to be used (not standing in the base), rubber feet on the bottom keep the unit stable and in place. The hub provides reasonably good features for a reasonably good price. <br><br> <b>NOTSOGOOD:</b> The USB connector cord could've been a little longer, and since it requires a USB miniplug on the hub side it prevents the use of a longer standard USB connector cord. The unit itself feels very cheaply made with a plastic shell. The stand-up base is really quite useless since the unit is so lightweight--if more than one or two cords are attached, it tends to fall out of the base or fall over. So just ignore the picture and plan to use it in the horizontal mode--that's how it is made and meant to be used. <br><br> <b>WHATITIS:</b> If it had an aluminum case, a normal USB input plug, and I'd never seen the stand, I would have given it overall Five stars. Still, it's a decent hub for the money.

5 of 5 Great PS3 Accessory Monday, March 31, 2008
A Customer from Florida
This hub/card reader was purchased to replace the 2 USB ports and card readers deleted by Sony from the 40GB PS3, which it does well. Since the unit was going into a open-air cantilever-type A/V stand, aesthetics were almost as important as function, and the slim, fairly clean appearance (though I replaced the ugly silver USB to mini-USB cable it came with with a black one to further hide it) allows it to go mostly unnoticed.<br><br> Additionally, having the majority of the USB ports on the back side of the unit hides the various dongles (for keyboard/mouse, etc.) from the casual observer nicely. As a hub and card reader (though I've only tested mine with SD), it has so far performed flawlessly. It's a little pricey as these things go, but combination hub/card readers are pretty tough to find, let alone ones that don't offend you aesthetically, so this suited my needs perfectly.

3 of 5 Base Sunday, February 10, 2008

It works but base does not hold hub in place very well. Weight or pull from attached cables pulls hub out of base easily.

5 of 5 Good Product Sunday, February 10, 2008

Worked good right out of the box, WindowsXP recognized it and I had no problems. Small footprint makes it fit right on the desk in easy reach but still out of the way.

4 of 5 Not too bad for the money Saturday, February 09, 2008
nurdled from Pine Island, MN
Everything works and functions like it should. The weak point of the product is the stand you can use to have the hub mounted verticly. The stand is not very stable. Nothing that a small piece of velcro can not fix.

5 of 5 Great product for a great price Friday, February 01, 2008
A Customer from Syracuse, NY
This product works great for me. It was immediately detected by both Windows XP and OpenSUSE Linux on my laptop. The rear USB ports are powered, so you can charge various devices without having to have your computer on. Memory card reader/writer works like a breeze, can just drag and drop files to and from the memory card. Only minor gripe is that its so light that if you have all the lower rear ports plugged into, it may start to tip back. The provided stand has prevented it from falling back, but still a minor concern. This is completely avoidable by simply laying it horizontal if you're really nervous about it though. All features work great and I highly recommend picking one up.

5 of 5 a nice product with one minor flaw Thursday, January 17, 2008
Jordan from Belows Falls, VT
It performs as advertised. The form is handy and taking all those USB ports and consolidating them down into one device along with the card readers is an EXCELLENT plan. My one misgiving, and this is quite minor, is that the stand that is included is not very sturdy or stand and therefore the hub tends to get tipped easily. Not a big deal, but a little more money towards plastics would correct that.

1 of 5 Connection & Boot Headaches - Not Recommended Thursday, January 17, 2008
A Customer from Alexandria, Va
I would not recommend this reader. It came with poor documentation, bad drivers with no single install program, and cause my machine (Opteron running Win2K) to hang on bootup if I left it plugged in. Also, if you remove a card properly I had to disconnect and reconnect the device to get it to work again. Finally, I need to use a registry cleaner to complete the uninstall. This device cost me a lot more than its purchase price in wasted time. Get a SanDisk or other model instead.

5 of 5 This is a useful addition to my home network Wednesday, January 16, 2008
A Customer from Madison, AL
The world seems to he headed toward greater reliance on USB and on flash memory, so this is a perfect package to make both of these resources more valuable to me. I haven't been able to justify upgrading my PC hardware just to get more USB ports and to make it easier to read and write flash memory from my camera, GPS, cell phone, and Wii. This device does it all, does it well, and seems to be made well enough to last until the technology is obsolete. That's almost all I could ask. I would give it 4.5 stars if that were an option, just because I am weary of distinctive styling in each of the one-offs sitting around my workstation. This is one more gadget that doesn't match anything and calls attention to its design. It's not particularly ugly, just different from my DSL modem, USB external drive, etc.

5 of 5 What more could you ask for in a hub, bub? Wednesday, January 02, 2008
boboneal from Suffolk, VA
I needed to add more easily accessible USB connections to my system (as I only had one on the front of the computer and it sets back in an armoire). This did it all! It plugs in the back of the desktop and sits up nicely on the monitor shelf, connected by two cables (USB and power from it's AC/DC adapter). And it's a powered hub, so it provides extra juice for powering my Seagate external portable hard drives. The card reader is also handy, as my computer doesn't have that feature. It may not read ALL the new cards that are out there now, but is fine for my photgraphic needs (CF, SD and SDHC). Six USB's might be overkill for some, but I'm not bending over and reaching behind to plug in anymore. Highly recommend for those with similar needs. I could not find a lower price on any similar hub anywhere else.

5 of 5 Versatile, Compact, Attractive Wednesday, December 05, 2007
geraldt8 from Midway, NC
On a cramped desk like mine, real estate is at a premium. This great little hub/card reader takes up very little space and provides very much function. And the white case is a nice change from black. It's read every card I've thrown at it and it's been a flawless hub for all my accessories. I would definitely buy another for home if my current hub dies.

4 of 5 Great - with Caveats Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from New Orleans
I bought this because of the many features it brings to the table. Namely, the 7 ports and integrated card reader. I had problems with W2K recognizing it properly unless it was plugged directly into the USB port on my computer, AND I didn't have my 4-port usb hub plugged into it. After that, smooth sailing. The ports are a little close together if you have fat devices (some of my older devices are a little wide), but it has accommodated all of my devices well, even external hard drives. also, it looks a little octopus-sy with all of the wires coming out of it, and it's layout is not the most convenient, but for the price, who's complaining?

5 of 5 What I Needed. Wednesday, September 26, 2007
Bunkey from San Fernando Valley, CA
Had the unit for many months. Never encountered a problem in using it. I needed a self powered USB Hub, had another hub, card reader/writer, not self powered and it halted my system on bootup. My motherboard from 2004 was probably the first with USB 2 and I have several USB items connected. I felt the power demands on the USB portion of the board were the problem. After getting this hub, card reader/writer no bootup problem. If you stand up the unit and use the base provided and have several cables connected to the back, it might be pulled over, especially if most of the cables hang down over an edge. But just wire tie or secure the cables should take of the problem.

5 of 5 Works fine; attractive Wednesday, August 08, 2007
A Customer from Charles Town, WV
Nice-looking, space-saving hub and card reader. Only thing I didn't like was that once I plugged in cables in the back it tended to tip if I didn't seat the hub just right in the stand. As for functionality, no problems - easy plug-n-play. I bought this so I could combine the functions of the hub and the card reader I had sitting on my desk, and it worked fine.

4 of 5 Multipurpose Hub Friday, June 16, 2006
nomad_aji from Hatfield, PA
Recently purchased this hub to replace my USB 1.0 hub and provide me easier access to a memory card reader. I moved my computer around and now it is on the floor, making the access to the memory slots difficult. I needed a new USB hub since many of the items were USB 2.0 compatible. The Iogear USB 2.0 Universal Media hub served my dual purpose needs well. It is a nice multipurpose unit. The unit overall is made of cheap material and not very rugged, but considering the cost you shouldn't expect much. It does work and memory card reader is now on my desk within arms reach. Though the SD cards need to be inserted upside down which is strange. So far I am very happy with the product.

A Customer from Socorro, NM
This is a truly amazing product. Haven't had any problems yet. No fancy installation required, plug it in, and is ready to go, even in linux. The card reader is also very nice even though i dont understand why the SD card reader is upside down: it'll take u a min to figure out how to put it in. :)

5 of 5 Great USB 2.0 hub / charger Monday, September 26, 2005
terapico from Los Angeles, CA
This hub is great and other reviewers have said that. I want to bring up a "feature" that is not mentioned anywhere. The 4 USB ports at the back of this hub provide power even when the computer is turned off. Since my PDA, cell phone and bluetooth headset comes with USB charge cable, I can charge them without using their power adaptors and thus saved a lot of space, and I don't have to turn the computer on (but you will need to plug in the hub's power adaptor). My D-Link USB 2.0 Hub does not provide power to the ports unless the computer is on (even I use the hub's external power adaptor).

4 of 5 Great product - almost perfect Friday, September 23, 2005
SC from Santa barbara, Ca
Great value for the money. Looks good/stylish (especially when charging my iPod shuffle out one of the top USB ports). Feels a little flimsy (but what do you expect for the price). Works easily/flawlessly without any stupid software. Actually the USB ports on it work fine without any extra power (USB cable only) but for all the flash drives to work, you need to use the extra power source (ac adapter), which is a bit annoying. I would rather be able to only use 1 of the drives at a time, and NOT have to use the AC adapter.

4 of 5 Warning - Requires ex. power supply! Saturday, September 10, 2005
S^RGE from St. Peters, Mo.
I just assumed the unit got it's power from the PC USB cable. Wrong, no where in the add does it state it requires an external power supply (included). My power strip is alread full! I'm surprised no one else mentioned this. I guess I can just switch between my printer plug and the card reader plug. :)

5 of 5 good product Friday, September 09, 2005
Robin M from San Jose , CA
paid 19.95 at Buy.com, it does exactly what it states. 6 USB 2.0 POWERED hub is great and usually >$15 dollars alone. Unusually at boot up only 3 of the 4 lights on the front light up - called iogear who states that was normal - (the light does work if I use the SM slot). it is very fast with memory cards. I think it is a great buy !

5 of 5 Great design, overall a great product, almost perf Thursday, September 08, 2005
yousufkairm from Chicago, IL
I think this is a great hub. I like that it has four ports in the back so the cables dont get in the way. The color is nice, blends in nicely. It has a lot going for it. The desining and color is very applish, which is what everyone is trying to do lately. Does not disappoing in terms of looks, design, and functionality. There are also a few things that could be better. The first thing is nothing bad, just a preference. I wish that when u have the unit standing up, the top would be on the left side and not the right side. But the bigger thing is that the slot for the compact flash is a little tight. When i did get my memory card in there, it seems like it is a little slanted. The reader did read me pictures just fine, and transfer the pictures fast. I did not try the other slots. After a little use, it has become more easier now to insert and remove the memory card from the CF slot. Overall, great product design, function, and price.

5 of 5 Great hub Monday, June 13, 2005
Gabe from Los Angeles, CA
I've had this hub for a while now, and I haven't had any problem with it. I'm using it with 2 external hard drives, 1 cd-rw and soon to hook up my dvd burner to it. All works flawlessly. It also reads my memory stick just fine. I haven't tried using the stand yet, but I heard that it doesn't really work too well when you have all the ports filled, but I don't have to worry about that because it fits the spot I have for it just fine.
