The IOGEAR 2-Port USB Cable KVM allows users to share a VGA monitor, a USB mouse, and a USB keyboard between two computers. Users can switch between computers using a manual switch located on a wired remote controller that can be placed on your desk for ease of reach. It is entirely plug-n-play and requires no software to run. It is also powered through the USB bus and thus does not require a power supply to run. It is the ideal KVM for those who want a competitively priced, entry level KVM that will allow them to multitask with two computers at their disposal.

    3.7 of 5 Not Satisfied. 2/24/2009
    from Irvine, Calif.
I have a PC laptop and MacBook laptop and I wanted to use my Apple keyboard and logitech mouse to run off of one KVM unit. I had purchased a Belkin F1DG102U unit, but it was expensive so I heard good reviews about this IOGear unit. I received it and within 5 minutes I was arranging for an RMA. The Bad: * it didn't work with my Apple keyboard; PC keyboards only. * the unit requires two USB ports to work - one for keyboard and one for mouse. The Good: * price * toggle switch My Belkin works flawlessly. It works with my Apple keyboard and it only uses one USB port to operate both mouse and keyboard. I get to keep one USB port for my flash drive on my MacBook. Toggle switch is also featured on the Belkin. The IOGear unit literally hogged both USB ports and made me sacrifice my favorite keyboard. Not happy I took time to disassemble and reassemble my setup for the IOGear. I read about durability issues with many Belkin products, so I hope my unit will last a while. Yes, I love my Belkin KVM.

    5 of 5 Great Product 12/31/2008
    John from Norfolk, VA
I like the fact that there is a dedicated toggle button; other KVM's use a keyboard hot key which can be a pain on occasion. I wish that it did not require two USB ports for each computer. Other KVM's (previous models from IOGear) combine the keyboard/mouse USB plug into one. Obviously not an issue if you have enough USB ports.

    4.3 of 5 Worked with wireless mouse/keyboard 11/30/2008
    Beanmedic from Fayetteville, GA
This item is as advertised. I was impressed with the button for hot switching between the two computers. It is fast and reliable. The cords are not very long, but that was anticipated. It is kind of like wiring up an octopus, but after you have taken care of all that the worries are over. I was not sure if it would work well with the wireless mouse and keyboad. But running the USB for the mouse keyboard receiver to the unit did work. I had wondered if it would be necessary in the wireless setup to connect both the keyboard and mouse USB feeds to each computer. The answer is yes, it did not work with only one of them connected to each computer. The other limit is that if you use digital video connection to your monitor you must step back to analog to use this device. That was not an issue for me, as I don't do digital quality video or photo editing with either machine.

    5 of 5 Working as intended 10/12/2008
    Timbo from San Diego, CA
Works great. One tip: Make sure to first install the drivers for the keyboard and mouse independently on the two machines before installing the KVM switch. I tried to install the KVM switch first and for some reason XP wouldn't automatically install the drivers. I had to plug the keyboard and mouse into both PCs first to install and recognize the drivers then install the KVM. The remote button for switching is fantastic.
