IOGEAR Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kit - GBHFK211W6

I ordered this unit and the first one had a echo that was so bad that the person calling in couldn't understand what was said. I called the factory and was told they had a bad batch of these and were working on a fix. No idea when it they would have a fix. So I returned item and was sent another with the same problem. Just does not work. Until they have a fix that works don't bother.

Maybe I got a bad unit, but mine is useless. Callers hear an echo that is so bad that conversation is not possible.

This product would be great if it wasn't for the person at the other end of the conversation getting a terrible feedback of every word they say. I could hear the person very clear at my end and they could hear me clearly but when they spoke it would be like an echo chamber. I have called Iogear twice and was told to call again in about a week. Seems they have gotten many other complaints like this and are looking into it. I hope they can straighten it out because It could be a great item.

The driver in the car can hear quite well, but from the other end it sounds like he is underwater. The combination of two keys to control all of the functions is confusing. We have to keep the instruction list with us. Maybe we will eventually figure it out.

Easy to set up. Easy to connect to my blackberry pearl. Sound quality and speaker are just average. Down side, every person I've talked to while using this device hears an annoying echo of their own voice. Every person asked that I call them back because the echo was so distracting. I switched back to my wired ear-piece and will probably throw this POC away.

Well, I decided to ignore everyone who complained about this product, but they were right. This is basically junk and I had the same exact problem the others described, which was a non-functional microphone. I wonder if they are just shipping the same broken item as people return it, hahahaha... Buy.com does suck in that you cannot get a REFUND for a DEFECTIVE ITEM, since they will only give you an exchange. So I imagine that others are returning the item without reporting that it is actually DEFECTIVE, because even I did not want the headache of getting another DEFECTIVE item. Anyway, the speaker worked and I could hear the caller but it did break up at points and was kind of scratchy, so overall this item sucked. Non working microphone, scratchy speaker, cheap generic NIMH batteries, but I did like the short USB cable for recharging and the Car plug did look cool. The item itself has a slick rubbery feel to it and I was excited when I saw it but it is all LOOKS and no PLAY. Avoid it. You have been warned...

Does not do what it is supposed to do. When I tried to send it back, they will only replace it with the same garbage. Support desk had no knowledge of this product.

The directions were poor. Had to read,and reread.Support is zilch. Party's I called could not understand me and operation is clumsy. Got a rebate from buy.com, so returning for a replacement is not worth the money and effort.

The unit's noise cancellation is not any good. If you listen to a recorded message (voice mail etc)it fools itself and chops up the sound. When on a call they complain that the echo is so bad they cannot carry on a conversation. The microphone is picking up the incoming voice & sending it back out. Tech support said to charge the battery and try another phone, all to no avail. Based on other reviews quality control may be a big issue. Save your money and trouble on this one

This product stinks. People cannot hear you, even when I close all windows, and turn off the radio. I have to yell my loudest for others to hear me, and the sound gets too distorted. I can hardly hear the person on the other end. I turn the volume up, but the speaker cannot handle it, so all you hear is vibrations from the speaker. Don't waste your money on this item!!

I purchased the previous version of this unit. Although it works, the battery never lasted anywhere near the rated standby time. Additionally, the unit did not shut-off after 30 minutes of being disconnected from my phone as advertised. I contacted the company and was told via email that "We have contacted the product manager and we are told this is a misprint. They were originally thinking of having this feature but when the final product came out they didn't include it." I might understand a misprint in a pre-printed manual, but even though they knew this feature was not available, they continued to advertise it on their website and advertised it on the current product (website and manual); until I complained. Since I was tired of constantly recharging the unit and since the unit was no longer returnable, I wrote the CEO. I will admit, I was surprised that they responded immediately and offered a refund or the new unit. I accepted the new unit since I read that it took standard AAA rechargeable batteries which I thought would be more convenient when the batteries went dead on the road. On the current model I find that the mic is better but the speaker is worse. The battery life is also worse so I'm always carrying extra, charged AAA batteries to pop in. It's a nuisance.

I bought this product based on the excellent reviews that the previous generation of this product received. When I first used it, the sound on my end was fine; but on the other end the callers complained the sound was muffled and garbled. I was able to verify this by leaving messages on my voicemail. Rather than going through the hassle of returning the item, I decided to open the microphone section and see if perhaps something was wrong in there. I didn't see anything obvious, and then tested the unit with the enclosure open. It sounded much much better. I then reassembled the module being careful not to overtighten the screws. I then tested the unit again and it was still clear and sharp. Apparently the screws were overtightened creating some kind of resonance or contact with the microphone that muffled the sound. Very strange indeed; however, the unit does have a one year warranty if the problem should recur. Maybe the quality control on these units needs to be improved.

We are very pleased with this device. You can clearly hear your caller over ambient noise in the car. Also, according to those on the other end, they have no problem clearly hearing us and do not hear other noise. Battery life seems to be very good. After more than a week of use, we have still not needed to recharge the batteries (we turn it off when not in use). We like it so much we are buying one for the other car.

It was very easy to setup and works well. I would recommend this hands free car kit to anyone who likes to talk while driving.
