Six years since his last studio album, Michael Jackson releases Invincible, aptly-named for this enduring artist who demonstrates that his crown as "king of pop" still rests firmly upon his head, despite the many pretenders that have challenged him along the way. Includes the international smash hit single "You Rock My World."

"...he's not about to cede his pop crown without a struggle... Invincible does boast its fair share of sonic exhilaration..."  Peter Kane, q4music

The question for a 42-year-old Michael Jackson heading towards the end of 2001 was whether or not the self-proclaimed King Of Pop could make his presence known on the charts after having spent much of the '90s laying low. If the chart-topping position achieved by INVINCIBLE is any indication, then the answer is a resounding yes. The album is primarily produced by Jersey wunderkind Rodney Jerkins, and Jacko wasted no time tapping other top-flight artists and knob-twirlers to help out, including Teddy Riley, Babyface and R.Kelly.
Michael pulls out all the stops here, whether peppering the opener "Unbreakable" with his trademark falsetto and a posthumous rap from the Notorious B.I.G, or recruiting guitar great Carlos Santana to contribute some tasty playing to the Latin slow-burn of "Whatever Happens." Elsewhere, comedian Chris Tucker contributes some high speed patter to the groove-heavy, piano-driven hit single "You Rock My World," while gospel superstar Andrae Crouch and his choir provide harmonic firepower to the magically lush "Speech". Although MJ stops long enough to take a swipe at yellow journalists everywhere with "Privacy," he truly shines on "The Lost Children," a sweeping ode to his young fans everywhere.

5 of 5 MICHAEL JACKSON NO 1 Saturday, August 31, 2002
A Listener from adelaide Australia

If you like BAD and HISTORY INVINCIBLE is a mixture of the two, it's a return to the roots of his career and what made him the undisputable king of pop. It's the old MJ we came to love mixed with something new. The album was a comeback of sorts. It was at the right time when music needed his brilliance although it didnt really have the desired effect. The cons are that at times he tries too hard and you can see that it's not natural.

5 of 5 Michael, I CROWN YOU THE ONE AND ONLY KING OF POP Monday, March 04, 2002
Cliver Sanchez cliverendum from Worcester, Massachusetts
I simply love the album. In my opinion this album places itself on the top of all Michael Jackson records. // UNBREAKABLE: Stong lyrics. As MJJ as you an go. Swift sounds will shake you. / HEARTBREAKER & INVINSIBLE: Bublegum. They're ok, but not great. / BREAK OF DAWN: I love it; you will be singing it all day after you hear it the first time / HEAVEN CAN WAIT: My favorite. "Unthinkable Me sitting up in the clouds and you are all alone The time might come around when you'd be moving on I'd turn it all around and try to get back down to my baby girl Can't stand to see nobody kissing, touching her Couldn't take nobody loving you the way we were What good would Heaven be If the angels come for me I'd tell them no"... simply magical. / YOU ROCK MY WORLD: First single. Stong and sonicly surrounder. Good pick as first single. / BUTTERFLIES & SPEECHLESS: Heartbreaking and soul shakers. There's so much love inside these tracks you'll end up making love with the lyrics in you mind. / 2000 WATTS: Good to wake you up, good to listen to very very loud, supremely enjoyable. / YOU ARE MY LIFE & DON'T WALK AWAY: Michael sings flowers in these tracks. Sweet lyrics carry along gently and very nice music. Tranquilizers. / PRIVACY & THREATENED: Anger. The first one I think devoted to Princess Diana, the second one to himself. Good music to listen to as loud as you can. / CRY: R. Kelly marks all over. I like ir very much. The short film sucks but the song, as a song, is very nice. / THE LOST CHILDREN: Close your eyes and you will find yourself inside and Disney show. Children chorus very well distributed. / WHATEVER HAPPENS: One of my favorite. Santana's solo is great. Michael's voice reaches a new lever of profound greatness. //// MICHAEL JACKSON, IN THE NAME OF ALL YOUR FANS AROUND THE WORLD, I CROWN YOU THE ONE AND ONLY KING OF POP, SO MAY GOD HELP YOU. AMEN.

5 of 5 A return to the old-school with some new beats Monday, February 04, 2002
Anthony Church from Durham NC
Michael Jackson's latest album, "Invincible," was met with distinct criticism. Every reviewer said that the album was bad, uninspired, and would not go anywhere. However, reviewers have been saying that ever since "Thriller," because everyone seems to expect albums that would outsell the 2nd highest-grossing album of all time. Then, of course, reality sets in and Michael Jackson continues to pump out #1 singles. This new album from Michael Jackson, in my opinion, is a slight deviation from his normal path of creating snappy, pop-happy and mainstream singles. This album is an intermixture of some light to heavy R&B tracks, along with some definitely Michaelesque "Save the Children"-type light ballads. After listening to the first 5 tracks, you may wonder if you accidentally picked up a good R Kelly CD, but you will find some nice tunes on this one. Track 1 "Unbreakable" is already becoming a dance hit in the UK. "You Rock my World" is a good tune, and "Butterflies" is a very strange and catchy new successful track. However, even though "Cry" already came and went with a quick video, and "2000 Watts" is a very un-Michael type jam song, the real gem is near the end. MJ teams up with Santana for "Whatever Happens," a third-person song that fuses an unmistakable Latin Santana sound with MJ's distinctive edge for a very different, and very surprising title that should surely make a big run for the top.

5 of 5 Odd man, but AWESOME cd!!!!! Saturday, December 01, 2001
Larry from Charlotte, NC
Many of us had long ago written off MJ as the King of Pop. I NO longer write him off! This CD is one of the best CDs to come from any artist in a long time. Tracks 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 12 and 15 are the best!!!!

5 of 5 Jacko is back! Friday, November 16, 2001
Fred Jones from Harrisburg, PA
I haven't felt like this since 1984. Michael Jackson is the man and this proves that it's not just hype. Jacko is back.
