5 of 5 Just the right speed Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Jan from San Antonio
This processor had the right speed to get my new computer updated to this high speed world. I don't think I will have to update this computer for another five years. No, it is not the fastest processor out there but for what I need it for (office work, school, military, and a little gaming) it works! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Processor! Wednesday, September 19, 2007 A Customer from San Antonio, TX
Great speed and I like the three year warranty. A leap from my old PIII into the modern age. My fiance saw the speed and now I have to make her a new computer. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great processor, but little improvement Friday, June 08, 2007 DaQ from Los Angeles, CA
Overall I'm satisfied with the processor, but to be honest I expected more from it.
My old 3.2Ghz HT P4 was bringing my vista rating down to a 4.5, so I decided to spend some cash on the next gen Core processors. $250 later, I'm getting whooping 5.0. I was very disappointed to see a 0.5 improvement over a processor that is 2 years older.
On the bright side, this processor currently offers the best speed/price ratio. It also has 4MB of cache which really helps.
If you want to upgrade, just wait until Quads drop in price, don't get this. Was this review helpful?

This review is not about its performance, or quality or anything else, it is totally a different issue. So far I never find anywhere that compares this CPU socket 775 with the old type socket 478. I have my 478 socket CPU 3.4 GHz for my editing video and my computer is a SCSI one. That 478 CPU died. I have to build a new one. My new computer is a very powerful one: CPU LGA 775 E6600 2.4 GHz, 4 GHz Ram memories, Asus P5N-E SLI, PNY Quadro FX1500 video card 256 MBs, Adaptec SCSI controller card with 4 146 GB Cheetah 10,000rpm hard drives, and yet this LGA processor 775 2.4 GHz runs EXTREMELY SLOW compare to the old one the 478 3.4 GHz.
What I want to say here is this CPU LGA775 2.4 GHz runs MUCH MUCH SLOWER than the CPU 478 3.4 GHz, because its speed is only 2.4 compare to 3.4 from my dead one.
I though 2.4 GHz and Core2Duo so it is like twice the 2.4, which translates into 4.2 GHz!!! I was wrong.
So many people praise this CPU E6600 and said it runs fast!!! I don't think so. Each time I open a graphics video, it freezes the whole desktop for about 2 minutes, then you can move the mouse to do anything. I am extremely unhappy. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Intel E6600 Monday, May 14, 2007 tlcamerica from chicago, il
Buying from Buy.com has always been quick and efficient, which is why I had not problem in spending $239 for the Intel E6600.
Now this chip is one fast chip, runs a little hot but to be safe I bought the Thermalright Ultra 120 fan for this chip. Extremely fast and and runs Vista as if they were made for each other. Nothing faster and for the extra money, about $90, the E6700 is just not worth the difference. You won't need to upgrade for many years with this chip. Was this review helpful?

Do you really need any more reviews to realize this is an awesome processor. It overclocks like a dream and is performing better than my 955 extreme dual core it replaces, and without huge fan noise because it runs so much cooler.
The only reason to go to a faster processor like the QX or 6700 is if you are willing to pay 50% more for 5% performance increase. Your call. You wont go wrong with this CPU.
For you gamers, I run World of Warcraft on a 24" flatpanel with a Geforce 7900GT and 2gig of 667mhz ram at resolution of 1600 and it is smoother than ever before. Massive frame rates! Was this review helpful?

getting ready for Vista, I got this processor that is not cost prohibitive. also waiting to get a DirectX 10 compliant video board to test the processor to its full potential (using video on board now, that sucks on CPU and RAM). But performance wise, it looks like a great buy at the moment. If you can wait for the Quad Duos to become more viable, the Extreme edition of the Core Duo should become more affordable. I received a week 27 e6600 (2.4ghz) and have so far gotten it overclocked to 3.2ghz (355x9) Orthos stable on air. I am 99% sure I am now BIOS limited (0621 on my DFI Infinity 975x/g and plan on flashing the BIOS today (to 0731 official or maybe 0831 beta) and seeing where I can end up. Either way, I am thrilled with the performance of this chip. Simply awesome! Was this review helpful?

This CPU completely blew away any and all expectations that I had of it. It is extremely overclockable. I have yet to max it out at 100%... cant seem to get it above about 60-70% even with CPU burn-in utilities. If you are contemplating buying this CPU... take my word and go with it, you will not be disappointed. I paired this with an Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard. Even the stock air cooler that came with it is pretty good. It idles at about 34-35c for me... But soon ill be hooking up the watercooling =) Was this review helpful?
