4 of 5 Once you figure it out.... Saturday, November 29, 2008 cobwebs from Pittsburgh, PA
... this language-learning product is very good. There aren't any practical instructions included with this package, so here goes: Listen to ALL the Audio CDs before you really start working in the software/application CD (that you load on your system.) The instruction on the Audio CDs is clear, but not closely linked to what you will find on the program itself, which can make the experience of working in the program a bit frustrating. However, using other free, online Spanish language resources for suggestions, I began to "get" how to navigate the program.
The program itself is very good, *once you get the hang of it.* I would not dismiss this as a resource, and in fact, have found some of the grammar explanations and activities extremely helpful. You must use the drop-down menu at the top right to find the glossary and grammar explanations, but they are there. Just no manual, nor any online resources in lieu of a printed manual.
There is a learning curve when it comes to HOW to use the software. If you use this program in conjunction with free podcasts, like Coffee Break Spanish for example, you will be very pleased! I find it fun to listen to more than one speaker, anyway. I'm all over the 'net learning; still find this product one of my "key players." Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 So so Tuesday, November 18, 2008 A Customer from Springfield MO
I have been using this Spanish tuter for about a month. I think the computer program is for someone with some prior knowledge of Spanish. I haven't used the on-line program much and it also requires the cd to be in your cd-drive to function. I do like the cd's for listening in the car. With those you can play them over and over and some of the words and sentences are beginning to soak in. There has to be better ways to learn than this program offers. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Cant' figure out how to use this product Sunday, October 26, 2008 A Customer from Dallas, TX
There doesn't seem to be any starting point for a beginner. If there is, I can't find it. Usually, a language product will start you off with some basic vocabulary and you go from there. This product has 3 learning modes, and I can't seem to find a basic "beginner" point in any of those modes. It looks like they expect you to know something already. It's very frustrating. I think I would have been better off buying a Spanish text book from the local college bookstore. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Could have been little better. Wednesday, August 06, 2008 santa from Reston, VA
Every time you have got to load the cd to learn.
For the beginner it may be tough to listen as the words are said rapidly.
Other wise the product is good. Was this review helpful?

I bought this program because it was the 4th highest rated Spanish language program on another site. I installed the program and started as a beginner. No manuals were included. The software starts with multiple choice identification of pictures with voice-over. Since I am new to Spanish it made absolutely no sense to me. After searching around for about an hour I decided to listen to the first CD. Ahh, you learn from the CDs and use the software to verify your new knowledge. Makes sense now. Was this review helpful?

I do not speak Spanish, and after trying to use this product I STILL don't. This product installs effortlessly (works with Vista) and basically uses Macromedia Flash for most of it. I have no gripes with the software itself - moreso the content.
If you have no prior knowledge of Spanish this will not benefit you. I read prior purchaser's reviews and took the chance due to good price. Listen to the other reviews, this software requires a fairly good knowledge of Spanish (I imagine the other languages are similar) before you can even understand the directions. I only used the 'Beginner' CD and it immediately went into question/answer sessions using full Spanish phrases.
For those who know some Spanish it would be great. It comes with 3 CDs(or DVDs?) for the computer with the program content. They are labeled Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. It also comes with 8 audio CDs that are for listening in your car, mp3 player, whatever. I never even tried them since the computer program was so difficult. Was this review helpful?

This product is a good product, however you must know some spanish before trying it. The word immersion describes this program exactly. It immediately throws you into the middle of Spanish and immerses you in the language. Without any prior experience with Spanish, this program might be hard to use. The technology, however, is outstanding and the material is endless. Was this review helpful?
