5 of 5 It lasts! Thursday, March 12, 2009
A Customer from Turlock, Ca

I bought my set Oct 19, 2006 and it still works perfectly. My friend bought one the same day, and his went out about a year ago. Luck of the draw I guess, but they have worked perfect for me and I use them for EVERYTHING since I didnt have speakers until now.

4 of 5 Icemat Wednesday, January 07, 2009
HR from Lecanto, Fl
I bought it for my W.O.W. playing son who is very hard on headsets. So far it has lasted about a year. He seems to be happy with it, so I am assuming it is a very good product.

5 of 5 Better Than Expected Tuesday, December 11, 2007
A Customer from NYC
Never heard of IceMat before and when they were having a rebate promotion, I thought why not. From the pictures it looks bulky but you barely feel it and there is absolutely no downward pressure on your ears as other headsets produce. Nice black finish. Great sound. Great product. Like others here, the plastic claps on my headset also broke recently - I bought it last November. I emailed the company for warranty information in which they replied all their products have 2 year warranties. Did a quick RMA and within a week, I had a replacement in my hands. Great turn-around time and good email response. I would advise all others here with issues with their headsets to apply for an RMA at "http://www.steelseries.com/int/about/rma-faq". I'll be promoting this company.

5 of 5 I Really Like it! Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from SoCal, California
over the years i've gone through several headsets. Several Logitechs, Plantronics and others. Out of all of them this is easily my favorite. The sound quality is great, it has good bass, it is very comfortable, and it is pretty light.

3 of 5 sounds great, but weak construction Monday, July 23, 2007
joevengence from New York, NY
These headphones sound great no doubt. And the price is very good. However the plastic piece holding the speaker is fragile. Mine broke after 1 month with normal use and they will not replace it. So I had to tape it up with electrical tape . It works.

2 of 5 good sound, bad built Tuesday, July 17, 2007
A Customer from NYC
others reviews are right, it has great sounds and is comfortable wearing it. But mine breaks after 3 months, first screw got loose, then the plastic cracked, and finally the whole ear piece falls apart. Would not waste more money on it.

5 of 5 Best Mid-level Headset out there... Wednesday, June 20, 2007
A Customer from Eureka, CA
When I describe a headset as Mid level, I'm talking about price range. Usually if you buy a $50 headset it will sound better than a $25 headset but not quite as good as a $100 headset. I honestly think this is the best $40-60 headset out there. Before deciding on this purchase I had looked at a LOT of alternatives. I read reviews and specifications before I finally settled on these beauties. Here's how I would describe the overall experience of this headset:

-Sound Quality: The set sounded great for radio listening and streaming content, but those really weren't a a good test of sound quality. The quality and depth of the headset really shined while listening to high quality MP3s via computer or iPod. The gaming sound quality was also impressive for a stereo headset in this price range (in fact it performed better than a few USB headsets I've had the pleasure of listening too). The headset has some bass which proves especially nice for music, and also picks up the full depth of the music which allowed me to hear beats in songs that I never picked up on with standard stereo speakers/headphones.

-Comfort: The headset, while over the ear, is also open meaning there is ventilation (which also means your sound may be heard by others at higher volumes). This is preferred for me because it means I can also hear other people without taking off the set as long as I do not have the volume too high. Fit ears comfortably and was fully adjustable for any size head.

-Durability: Set seems sturdy, although I did see the part that some users had reported breaking (metallic wires connecting the adjustable headband). I have had no problem thus far and plan on keeping stress off the part by lifting it straight vertically from my head when removing it.

-Microphone: An equally key part of the headset if you are a gamer. It is completely detached from the headset which is nice if you want to port the headset around for listening only. The headset plugs into the microphone unit extending the cord of the headset and attaching the mic which can be clipped to clothing or the included bracket. This is a lot of cord but it works just fine as a desk unit. The pickup on the mic seemed to work great on vent and moderately well on my recording software. I have confirmed that it is mostly directional which will help cut out background noise.

Conclusion: Aside from the slew of extra cord caused by the mic unit, I have nothing ill to say about the headset. I would highly recommend this product to any gamer. It may not out-perform some expensive USB gaming sets, but it is the best mid level stereo set out there. (5/5)

2 of 5 Poor quality parts Wednesday, May 23, 2007
A Customer from East Freetown, MA
After 3 months of normal use, the plastic clasp holding the wires to the comfty head band broke rendering the headset useless. Up until that point, I loved the headset. I wear glasses and this product was the only headset that fit comfortably around my spectacles. The head band was very comfortable. The sound was great. But the product quality is obviously very poor.

3 of 5 Worked great...while it lasted Tuesday, April 03, 2007
A Customer from TX
I enjoyed the quality of the sound and mic but I am very disappointed in the durability of the item. After 1 month of moderate use and being the kind of neat freak I am this headset became loose at the screws and fell apart.

5 of 5 For the price..a STEAL Friday, January 19, 2007
Vinay Khandka from Westland
Sounds spacious. The sounds seem to come from OUTSIDE the headphone!! I can play Oblivion for hours with this on and do not feel its weight or any tightness around head, ears. Audio quality is really good, and now I prefer this over my 5.1 speakers for playing Oblivion. Keeps family members happy too, with all those evil daedra not running around the house :-)) Am using this with Soundblaster Fatal1ty gamer card feeding an Onkyo 500W 5.1 receiver. The headphone is plugged to the Onkyo. Set the Soundblaster to Headphone mode, enabled the 3D surround features. Get a pretty good enemy location 360 degrees !! For the price of $25 or less, it cannot be beat. And yeah, it looks good too.

4 of 5 My Inference ! Friday, December 01, 2006
Mighty Roy from Massachusetts
Overall: Worth a steal !!! Bad first: The volume control when down at 0 gives a high pitch noise which vanishes when you just use the headphones. Not a big thing but I just experienced it (might be only with my headset) Good second: Too comfortable to carry on ur head, Attractive, good finish, and FULL volume doesn't really make it come out of ur ears...u ll keep it ON definitely. Stable and smooth and enabled me to listen to some extra additional music in the videos and songs which earlier weren't just there !! I wouldn't turn back now. I will stick with these. Honest and in Simple-I got much more than my expectation in this price !!

5 of 5 Bulky but good Friday, December 01, 2006
BF2 player from Irvine, CA
I like this headset. I now use this one more than my Senheisser PC150. It is clearer, and the directional sounds when playing BF2 is better on this one that the PC150. I can sense the motion of the approaching players better with this headset. I need to get used to the detached mic when needing a mic. I don't use the mic most of the time, but having used boom mics attached to the headset all these years, it feels weird to have a clip-on detached mic. Very comfortable too. Great value after the rebate!

5 of 5 Great headset Wednesday, November 29, 2006
Ignorance from California
This is a great headset. The bass is phenominal, the best I've gotten out of any headset. Another nice thing is that the speaker surrounds your entire ear, this means that you can wear them longer without your ears hurting. There is no adjustment needed to put these on, the bar automatically adjust and retracks when you take them off. It does not show the mic in the picture, but it is pretty cool. It clips to your shirt, or you can mount it to your monitor. Its unidirectional so it cuts lots of ambient noise out of your speech. The mic sound quality is good enough to record sound for movies or software. This definatly gets a 5 of 5. The headset produces great sound. I play FPS games a lot, if the game has footsteps enabled I feel like I am cheating because i can hear them from so far away. My last headset would hardly pick up footsteps and minor sounds.

5 of 5 I likey. Wednesday, November 29, 2006
brian.carnett from evansville, in
The cord coming directly off the headsets is a rubber/textureized type. It feels soft and comfortable. The sound is great from these, I love it. They feel very well made, I'll have to see how long they stand up. I bought these because after rebate/sale they will only be $10, but these feel really good. Only possible complaint is that since I wear glasses the earmuffs push onto the side of my head a bit.

Definitely recommended. For the price I paid ($10 After $20 Rebate) one of my better deals in recent times. Thinking of getting another one :D
