Great computer. Extremely fast. You have to download windvd software (free) from IBM/Lenovo and CD writers from Internet.

New or refurbished, you get IBM quality. Couple that with Windows XP pro, you get a flawless and fast machine that works every time. In fact, I have converted it to a server for software development by installing heavy duty applications. I could not simply do that with a new Vista machine. The best desktop $200 will ever buy. Well initially I was disappointed as the unit would not boot right out of the box, so I tried reinstalling Windows XP from the supplied disk and it continued to fail. Turns out the hard drive 160gig WD SATA) was bad. Well after thinking it over I decided to just order another hard drive from Buy.com (a 250gig Seagate SATA) for under $60. Just finished installing it and installing XP. The system works like a dream and it is FAST and SUPER quiet!
Bottom line: Even though I had to shell out another +/-$60 I am extremely happy. For a total of under $260 I have a 3ghz machine with 1gig ram, a Lightscribe DVD writer, 250gig HD and everything except a monitor to start computing and gaming.
Oh and as a side note; even though this is a refurbished system, it is like new and I'd challenge anyone to tell it wasn't new. All in all another excellent deal from Buy.com. Was this review helpful?

I pulled this out of the box...it looked good and the processor is very, very fast. That said, the exhaust fan was so loud that I had to send it back...luckily, buy.com did credit my account and even paid for the shipping back, which is why my satisfaction level was a '5' Was this review helpful?

I bought this computer for my wife, she loves playing internet games. The performance of this machine is great, it runs very quiet, it is very easy to setup, its fast and smooth. Overall I have to give it a 5, this is an excellent computer, and I havent even mention the price. Was this review helpful?

Exceeds expectations. For being a 'barebones' kind of system, this gorgeous tower did better then I thought. I bought two, one for my son, one for myself. Box contents include the tower system, keyboard, mouse (rollerball, bah), powercord and windows xp w/pk3 refurbished computer backup cd.
Just plug it in and go. For whatever input reasons, likely solely my part, I did have to recheck/reenter product verification on both computers several times before I got past that first part... again, likely something I was doing. But after a few 'I accept'/ info entry moments and you're at the desktop screen. No garbage 'trial this or that' nonsense to go through, thats it. After setting desktop view to personal preferences this system was running the way I wanted and better then I'd been hoping.
Starts with 2 512gb mem sticks, 4 mem slots upgradable to a total of 4 gb, onboard graphics. Thusly they feel almost 'too good'. You're cheating yourself should you pass this one up. Am thinking the only perk they might consider adding would be to also send cookies... say.. chocolate chip? Was this review helpful?

I was not sure when i bought this that it would be that great. i have a core 2 duo laptop that works pretty well, but this pentium 4 is insanely fast right out of the box. normal installtion and configuration time for me with a new machine is 6-8hrs. i had everything i needed installed on this machine and ready to deploy in about 2.5hrs, its just that fast. i have some other IBM Pentium 4 machine here of similar spec, but this is even faster than those machines. this is an awesome computer for the price.
