5 of 5 My wife loved her iPod player Friday, May 16, 2008 Howard S. from Pacifica, CA
Bought the Audio Vault as a gift for my wife. She loved it!
Good sound; convenient size, and extremely portable. Overall, I was pleased with her response, and I liked the reasonable price. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 i.Sound Audio Vault Portable Speakers Wednesday, November 28, 2007 yk@betterqa.com from Margate,FL
Would not recomended. Case is good and solid. Design is good and usefull. Sound quality is horrible and drains batteries like no tomorrow. Not worth it tough the idea is not bad. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Execellent Buy! Saturday, September 08, 2007 tbfun0920@rcn.com from Washington, D.C.
This portable speaker system is also functional for other mp3 player that are not ipods, which is another plus for this item. I particularly like the freedom of hearing music or other programs while doing other chores, even while talking on the phone. The sound is a good quality for the size of the speaker! I am very pleased with this item! The only shortcoming is remembering to cut the power switch off in order to save batteries, if you play it with the case closed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This will survive a drop Saturday, August 25, 2007 jw from Santa Rosa, CA
Follow up to my review below dated 13 August 2007: My I.Sound Audio Vault with the iPod inside fell out of an open backpack while it was being removed from the car. The unit dropped about 30 inches and hit the concrete driveway. Both the Audio Vault and the iPod survived with no visible or other noticeable damage. A few of my family members and friends are very impressed with this unit. I am planning on purchasing at least a couple more as gifts. Was this review helpful?

Like many users, I find the speakers liable to become overwhelmed if the volume goes up, resulting in what you could call a "buzzy" sound. This can vary from track to track, so you can't always predict when the sound will need to be lowered. However, my Creative TravelSound speakers do the same thing, so I can't say I was surprised or even bothered that much.
On the up-side, this unit is protective and highly portable, and the iPod is easy to control when housed inside.
But here are two reservations not yet noted in this review forum:
First, the 4 AAA batteries insert into a 2x2 cavity, and anyone with large fingers will find inserting batteries rather awkward, to say the least. I keep a small screwdriver nearby to position the lower batteries. Second, I use this device for outdoor activities (hiking, birdwatching), and it lacks a secure tether; the only "strap" is attached to the zipper-pull, and that's eventually a recipe for a broken zipper. So I punched two small holes on either side and ran a nylon cord through to make a more secure strap; problem solved.
In sum, it's a good device; I'd buy it again. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great unit if you want good sound, extreme portabi Monday, August 13, 2007 jw from Santa Rosa, CA
I have used the I.Sound Audio Vault Portable Speakers/Case Combo for about 6 weeks and am very happy with its overall performance. Things to be aware of: (1)This unit sounds great indoors and has sufficient volume even in a larger size room. Outdoor in the yard or in the park you need to be close to it to enjoy your music. (2)Unit is not very large but it is not as small as it appears in the photo. It is about the size of an old style handheld cassette player. It is very portable but it will not fit in your pocket. (3) The on-off switch is on the inside. You need to unzip the case to turn it on or off. This is not a problem for me but can be for others. Analyzing the design I would agree the switch is best placed on the inside where it is. What I like: (A) The sound is excellent considering the size of the unit. I also own a Logic3 I-Station 7 that has better sound quality. (B) This I.Sound unit can be moved easily. I move it from room to room as I move from room to room. There is more involved in moving the Logic3 unit and it is best suited if it can be left in one place for an extended period of time, like for a week in my hotel room. (C) I-Pod controls are easily accessible when in use. There is no need to un-zip the case. (D) I-Pod display is also easily accessible. I just pick up the unit to see the title, artist, or to view the graphic associated with the song. (E) I was concern about battery life based on some of the reviews. My own experience shows battery life to be very good. I did not track the actual time, but I only replaced the batteries once in the past month. I use the unit often in the weekends. (F) I feel comfortable when handing this to others, including children. I believe the I-Pod and this unit will survive a drop but I don't intend to test this out. My case does show traces of ice cream and other food items. It cleans easily but marks are still visible. Overall: Consider how you use it when deciding on a speaker system for your I-Pod. I use the Logic3 unit in the hotel room when I travel and can leave the unit in one location. I use this I.Sound unit when I am at home and move around a lot. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great Tuesday, August 07, 2007 A Customer from Las Vegas, NV
Nice unit. Works well. It's a good size and has decent sound quality. The price was right with the rebate too. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good sound; short battery life. Tuesday, August 07, 2007 A Customer from Rochester, NY
Note: disregard the "stars" on this product... they are for rating a GAME, not speakers.
As portable speakers, sound is surprisingly good. AAA batteries do not allow for long life: about 8 hours for me, at average volume. Consider rechargable batteries, if you plan to use frequently.
You will find a similar product at places like Big Lots for about the third of the buy.com regular price. If money is important, shop. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very Pleasantly Surprised! Sunday, August 05, 2007 HappyCamper from St. Louis, Missouri
I ordered this more out of curiosity but have been very happy with the i.Sound Audio Vault Portable Speakers for my IPOD. It is solidly made, provides good protection to the IPOD, and really has a surprisingly good sound and volume! I find myself taking it on trips and using it in the hotel room for my own personal music plus as an alarm. Great item for in the park or anywhere outdoors also. If you like audio books on your IPOD this is a great way to sit with the kids or spouse and share a book as a family activity no matter where you are. I use the same long lasting Lithium batteries that I use in my digital camera and the Audio Vault plays for a very long time. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice speakers Sunday, August 05, 2007 AB from Santa Clarita, CA
Bought this for an IPOD nano. It is compact and very convenient. You are able to use the click wheel through the front plastic. The speakers don't get really loud but it is enough to enjoy the music. It really isn't meant to be a boom box. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Not good sound Saturday, August 04, 2007 A Customer from Vienna, VA
Buzzy sound detracts from nice portability and security. Was this review helpful?

I absolutely love the I-Sound audio vault. It's extremely functional & the sound quality is good (not bose quality). You don't mind handing your I-Pod to a friend or a child because you know it is safe against droppage in the padded zipper case. I have ordered another unit for myself to have for the future when I wear my first one out. I have also ordered 3 more units for freinds of mine that had to have one after hearing mine! Two Thumbs Up I-Sound :) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good quality for small size Thursday, July 05, 2007 Troy from New Jersey
I bought this not expecting much but hoping fro the best from it and I was surprised with it as it sounds great. It is loud and not tinny or over amplified bass. The hard case and battery power makes this ideal for camping or other outdoor activities where there is no power and your Ipod or other music player might get banged around. Only drawback is that it does not act as non-powered speakers without batteries, but that is easily taken care of by simply using a good set of rechargeable batteries which should last quite a while. Overall I am very happy with this product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Sounds good and looks classy Thursday, July 05, 2007 A Customer from Carmel, CA
This is as sharp looking as the picture shows, and was a pleasant surprise since I bought it mostly for the novelty value. It has several adapters to fit any size iPod, which can be operated through the clear protective shield on the case. The sound is less than Klipsch-level but quite good for my purposes, which is as a portable office sound system for my quirky musical taste. I haven't tried it but it is also supposed to operate as a clock-alarm, turning on your iPod from stand-by mode. And while it is on the hefty side, it doubles as as adequate protective case. The above categories really don't fit, but I would rate it a 5 all around. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Surprise Wednesday, June 20, 2007 Nishant from Lincolnshire, IL
These things are actually good!
I somehow had thought that the case will be smaller, but boy...it was a surprise..its got a rugged look to it and the sound is really good for the package. The only thing is that the speakers give way at full volume, but then it does come in a neat package.
Its a little big on size than they look in the pics. So if u r lookng that u will be able to keep it in your pocket, forget it....
Otherwise great buy for the price...Well spent...
No idea of battery life...I have just had them for a day...
Happy shopping! Was this review helpful?

Whether out and about, out on the town, or out in the woods, this portable gizmo is truely a master piece of audio entertainment. It has the convenience and functionality of an IPOD which we all know and love, plus the addded comforts of its rugged and durable exterior. A "must-have" for all IPOD aficionado's! 5 of 5 Rock the party and protect your iPod all at once! Tuesday, June 05, 2007 A Customer from walnut, CA
This thing rocks and sounds as good as my Creative portable speakers at half the price. Runs forever and has a nice neoprene case to protect the iPod from spills. Definitely recommend. Cases are already at least $10. Might as well pay the extra fifteen and turn your iPod into a boom box. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great sound in such a small size! Monday, May 14, 2007 jay from california
I love my isound audio vault. It's great because it's a hard case with foam outside, plus a speaker system all in one. I was tired of having to have a case AND portable speakers, but this is everything wrapped into one piece. Plus, I've never seen a small system like this that has a wake-me alarm. Great deal. Thanks Buy.com! Was this review helpful?
