I purchased the printer mailbox for my 83 yr old mother. She is by herself a lot of the time and when I saw the information about this printer I thought it was a wonderful solution to keep her in touch with the family. She does not have a computer and the only way to keep in touch with her is by phone. This way I can write a note to her and she has something to look forward to. The rest of the family is also sending her emails and pictures of the grandkids. So far she really likes it. I would recommend it for anyone that has a family member that is not up with computers but they want to be able to send information, letters and pictures by the internet. We just bought this as a Christmas present for my husband's grandparents - both in their 90's and NO computer skills at all. It was SOOOOOO easy to set up that I couldn't believe it - I didn't even need my husband's help! And they are having so much fun with it. They love getting messages from grandchildren, family and friends, near and far. Their "friends" list is growing quickly, and they check the machine all the time for new messages. I bought the Printing Mailbox for my 89-year-old father and he loves it. I set it up for him -- it checks for email four times each day and starting the first day he looks forward to checking to see if he has any printed email. I found the best price on buy.com (and the shipping was free). The product was very easy to set up and it works great. The Presto service has even sent me an email to tell my that my father's printer was out of paper -- pretty cool. The only downside of this product -- as with any printer -- is the expense of replacement ink cartridges. Overall, the product and email service are very innovative, easy to set up, and bring great satisfaction to someone like my father who is older and who does not want a computer. Bought this for my 84-yr-old dad for Father's Day. He has lived alone for the past 10 years, and wouldn't touch the computer we gave him. But he loves his printing mailbox! He feels more in touch with the family, and enjoys the daily crossword and weekly recipes from Wolfgang Puck. Set-up was very easy, and so far no problems with the printer. First, Buy.com has been a great place to shop. Price points are excellent as is service and deliverability. Now on to the HP10A Printing Mail Box and Presto Service.
Talk about easy to set up, it was a breeze. I set it up at my place first to get working before giving it to my mother (Nana to all the grandkids). Did call Presto to be sure all was OK and the service there was fabulous. They even called back later just to be sure everything was OK.
Took to Nana's, plugged it in and off it went. I set up all the grand kids and nieces/nephews who had not been able to communicate with Nana for some time because of her failing eye site and inability to use a computer and email. Nana is 87. The large font option is great.
Now the kids communicate and send a picture or two and she is in 7th heaven. Has worked for a week now without a glitch.
If you know someone who's life would be enhanced by Presto and an HP10A, just seeing their excitement when they get a brief note and picture from grandkids they have not heard from in a long time, you would say, at twice the price it would be a bargain. Was this review helpful?

The printing mailbox is the greatest tool that I could have ever given my parents who are 80 and 85 years old. They look forward to letters and pictures from my sisters and me, their 5 grandchildren and especially the pictures of the great grandkids. We bought 3 of the HP mailboxes to give as Christmas gifts. We set them up online and created email addresses and everything that needed to be done before we gave them. Once they were opened all they needed to do was plug them in - it really was that easy. My father-in-law moved his from where it was initially set up and something wasn't right (very well was his fault) but we called and they were very helpful in getting it back on track. I am sure the price will go down on them and they could have been a little cheaper for what they are - just a mailbox with no capability of sending email. For what we got them for, they are a great product. We set them up for older grandparents that do not have computers. We were even able to set up one Presto account and add each individual mailbox to it even though they are seperate boxes at sperate residences and seperate email addresses. We were just charged a small fee for adding addresses. Was this review helpful?
