I found the c4280 an exercise in frustration under Vista. Vista keeps forgetting the printer and then HP reinstalls the printer automatically so you end up with multiple copies in your "Printers" list. Prepare to wait for HP to reinstall the c4280 several times a week. HP also installs all kinds of software on your machine -- but nothing to resolve this problem. Was this review helpful?

As I have found out in recent years, HP printers are well designed and the build quality is good. The driver software and installation can sometimes be frustrating. I have setup several of this model printer and have run into installation problems about half the time. Sometimes the software won't detect the printer (but Windows always does), sometimes I have seen strange errors during installation. Once you get the software installed correctly, the printer works well.
