2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 If you want a machine that has built in faults... Friday, November 06, 2009 A Customer from Chicago, IL
...this is the one for you!
I have one, 2 friends each have one, and they all have the same problems! Freeze-ups, crashes and finally no start-up at all. I think that maybe the funky, tiny design of this thing doesn't allow for proper heat dispersion (just a guess)
What I DO know is... the 3 that I have encountered died a quick death. One was reanimated after a complete hard drive erasure and reload.
In fairness to HP... these were 3100 series or lower... so maybe HP has rectified the 'early demise' problem.(Heat? BIOS? Hardware?) But I would personally never consider a mini-box system again.
Pros: It works just fine for a while, reasonably fast, small size fits on small desks.
Cons: Very few upgrade options, only takes a small/low-profile video card upgrade, tight quarters in small case makes it very hard to work on/ upgrade (you have to pull the optical drive to properly get at memory), Crash problems leading to start-up problems.... Was this review helpful?
