Although I am now stuck with Vista (evil Vista), I am glad that I got this computer. I didn't realize how much the 64 bit would make a difference so far as programs go, but I can live with that. The performance of this laptop is incredible. I am very happy with this decision. I use it all the time.

Great value. I was going to wait until windows 7 came out before buying a new laptop but decided to go ahead with this model as price was too good to pass up. Complaints: Right shift key is way too small. I hit the key approximately half the time. The cooling fan is located in the left corner of the base. Because the keyboard is offset to the left to make room for the 10 key pad, the fan opening tends to sit right on top of my leg when sitting on my lap. Hopefully, it won't cause the unit to overheat over time. Vista works better than expected but looking forward to Windows 7 release. I would prefer an Apple but this is 1/3 the price. I would buy again.

Really a nice looking laptop at a great price. Love the Web Cam and can't wait to try the light scribe feature. Can't say anything bad about this product other then the battery life isn't great and I'm not a huge fan of Windows Vista. I would recomend this laptop to anyone interested.

After reading every review written here on this laptop, I decided to go ahead and order one. I am so glad I did. I've been using it for almost a month and have experienced none of the problems that other users have mentioned. Great sound from the speakers and the headphone jack. Great picture from the webcam. A light comes on right where the webcam is so it's easy to tell that it's on. I've done Skype calls and the mic carried clearly. Wireless signal recognized all over the house. Battery life is over 3 hours. Mouse functions smoothly. Love the full sized key board with the number pad. It is a larger laptop so it is heavier than the small ones, but I prefer the larger screen, so the weight isn't an issue. I can't believe I got 'so much computer' for my money! I paid as much for my last laptop and didn't have near as many features as this computer has. This is a great deal!

I bought this laptop about 5 months ago as a desktop replacement when I started my consulting business. It has been in constant daily use, at home and on travel. While I do not need a whole lot of horsepower it certainly provides all I need to do documents and spreadsheets for work as well as streaming video from the web when I want to relax in a hotel room. I have gotten a number of envious complements with regard to the stylish design and especially the large screen. I am pretty satisfied with the purchase, both with the product and with Buy.com which is one of my major acquisition sources for personal and work related products. I do not like the fact that the (right) shift key is small. It really slowed me down at first as I would not get what I expected as I typed and kept hitting the up arrow which is where the other half of the shift key should be. It still slows me own a bit probably because I use an external keyboard whenever I can so I never fully get used to it.

I bought this laptop for my dad 4 months ago and he loves it. Then I got one for myself too earlier this month.If you are looking for a bang for ur buck - this is the product for u. The widescreen is great for watching movies , webcam is good quality and it also comes with a remote control for the media. It comes with a lot of pre-installed software - so will spend some time initially getting rid of it. Also, creating the recovery disks takes quite some time. The battery life is nothing to brag about either - lasts just over 2 hours, and the laptop is a bit on the heavy side. If u need a laptop for your home - for browsing, watching movies, etc then I really recommend this - u wont be disappointed !

I got this laptop shipped from Buy.com on time. This laptop works beautifully except for 2 minor things: 1. The built-in wireless system is not very strong. I got weak or no signal in my room. I plugged in a USB wireless and it worked great. 2. The battery doesn't hold charge very well. For normal use, it would last less than 2 hours, maybe 1 and a half, probably because it is a refurbished unit. I use the power adapter all the time, so it would not annoy me at all.

Overall very good deal, my only annoyances are that the onscreen volume indicator sometimes stays on the screen forever if I change the volume using the touch pad volume control, and the power chord doesn't fit snugly so sometimes the battery dies without me noticing it was unplugged.

I ordered 2 units. One came in and worked fine, the other blue screened. But, the buy.com RMA process was easy and conveniennt. I received the replacement a little later than the first but it works fine and I am satisfied.

Overall very satisfied with the machine and the price. Looks like a new laptop. Impressive looking and not as heavy as I expected. Used for 2 months with no major problems. Really like the number pad when entering data. Used Skype, 3D CAD software, video editing & DVD burning, played movies, office software, photo and audio editing, games, scanning, used 4 USB ports simultaneously, and wireless internet and it handled everything very well. Prefer wireless mouse instead of T-pad. Wish it had HDMI out. A few problems found: headphone port has a lot of noise, quick volume controls can cause lockups, touchpad is very smooth surface and doesn't operate as good as other laptops I've used, keyboard not high quality feel, screen has glare in bright environments(but looks great in low light).

Overall a good value, some bugs that may be too much for the green user. The 64 bit Vista Premium OS at first kept crashing, but seemed to mostly clear up after "cleansing" the hard drive of all the unecessary crap, and installing all applicable updates. Still I think the 32bit version is more reliable. This OS has conflicts with Comodo if you like their security programs, but Avast works fine. The volume adjust still is not reliable, sometimes working and sometimes not, and I hate the right "shift" button which is reduced in size. I've only had it a short time so we'll see! It does have all the toys, the webcam is not bad but the picture quality could be better.

besides tons of junk programs, I gave this to my wife for christmas. It lasted till the day after and then fried. It's now been sent off and am waiting to hear if its the "motherboard" or the drive that went. I'm undecided if I made a mistake or not ordering one if these. At least it was under warrenty.

Bought two of these lap tops. Very impressed with the features. Was a little leery of the Vista 64 OS. Got rid of the bloat ware and installed my MS Office 2000 and the Pinnacle 12 video editor. The Vista was backward compatible with them. It looks like a pretty nice OS after all. The built in vid cam has all kinds of features. Only problem, you have to make sure it is not on. Found it on and running a few times without being aware of it :-) Was able to take it out to my garden for video chatting and giving some of of my online snow bound friends a tour of my garden with the bumper crop of tomatoes. I bought a three year extended warranty from Square trade for 100. Would strongly reccommend doing that right away.

Intitially, I was a little skeptical - purchasing a refurbished machine, and on-line no less. But, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. First, buy.com gave me an early holiday present by upgrading the machine to the hp9925nr. On top of that I made the purchase on a Wednesday evening with standard shipping, and miraculously Santa had delivered it by that Friday afternoon. I opened the box, turned it on and voila!!! As an entertainment laptop, it may not be a true gaming system -but with the AMD Turion 64, 4GB of RAM, 1 GB of video, a 17" WXGA display and whopping 300+GB Harddrive, it darn sure comes close. For a little peace of mind, a 90 day warranty does come attached - and one can always purchase more. Needless to say, I will definitely consider purchasing another refurb computer in the future from buy.com. Way to go!

Very good laptop. The only difference with a new one is the price. Fast response, very nice display, lot of disk space... I highly recommend this computer. If I had the need for more computers, I would definitively buy another one.

I would say this computer is VERY worth it. That sums it up. I had and maybe still having some issues, but should be easily resolved. For some reason I connect this computer to my tv and it works great but after an hour or so it starts flashing and doing weird things. I am not a techy kind of guy, so I am pretty positive it is probably a setting or something I can do on my end to resolve this. Otherwise it is well priced for what you get. I mean everything works like it should, looks great, fast, finds a connection for me flawlessly all the time. Awesome buy!!!

the remote control on the computer did not work. I tried to contact buy.com by e-mail and it took ten days for them to tell me that it was after 14 days and they could not help me. I e-mailed them back and ask who could help(because it has a 90 day warranty on it)and I received the exact same e-mail that did not help. I decided to contact HP on my own online and had the problem resolved in about 30 min. The computer is a great buy, but buy.com needs some lessons on customer service.

I couldn't believe that I could get such a great deal on this product. The add said it is refurbished, but it is just like brand new. The memory, the speed and the great software that comes with it is just amazing. I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this product. My other half is even thinking of getting one.

Like most parents interested in purchasing a laptop for their teenager for Christmas, I was all over the web looking for the latest "bells and whistles" but would also not to be a strain on my wallet. Of course, the familiar brands and sites kept popping up -- but so were the prices!! I decided to return to familiar territory (Buy.com) and whoa(!) I was blown away with this machine. Though it is a reconditioned model- it looks like new. And Buy.com even gave me a free upgrade to the 9925nr model! I can't wait to see my son's face when he opens this present. I bought this laptop to replace an old Acer Aspire laptop. All was going well until i tried to listen to some music with earphones on (tried 3 different sets). When laptop is plugged in to the mains, there is a constant popping and hissing noise. I googled it and got 1.5 million hits on this problem. I contacted hp only to have them say this isn't a serious enough fault for them to repair. To cut a long story short I'm still having to use my old acer to link up to my amp because the hissing is so annoying. Please, please if this is going to be a problem for you.... google it to see the gravity of this problem HP are sweeping under the carpet.

I love the speed and power of this computer! Only issue I have is that the WIFI doesn't want to connect easily with my Dlink router. I think I've resolved the issue with a booster ant. from DLink...we'll find out when it comes in next week. Overall I couldn't be happier with a great computer for over half the price new!!

This laptop is amazing! When I got it I didn't realize how nice it was going to be. The screen is huge and has great quality. I really liked the appearance as well, the picture did not show the cool designs on the outside. Computer is very user friendly. I like the number pad, making it easy to use for all my school and personal needs. I've had it for almost 3 weeks not and still haven't gotten to use all the features that it offers. I would recommend this computer to anyone. The only thing I do not like about it is when the battery goes dead the screen goes blank and I have to restart the computer. Just make sure you keep an eye on the battery level to make sure that doesn't happen to you.

I love this laptop so much 3 of my friends bought one! Excellent product, service and price. I received it in 4 days, the AC adapter was bad and HP replaced it overnight. This is my second refurb laptop from Buy.com and I highly recommend them.

this is the best computer we could buy for the price... refurbished only means it was checked even more methodically than the mass produced merchandise. There are no signs on my computer that it is not new. We bought 3 because the price was that good. The 'esc' key came off one time for no reason but it clipped right back on and hasn't come off since. At first the computer froze when using internet explorer and trying to change the volume with the quick access above the keyboard, but switching to firefox fixed this.. also IE froze when accessing the hotmail website... again firefox fixed this... very good audio for laptop. quality of the camera kinda sux. wireless internet is strong. keyboard is same size as regular keyboards, so no need to adjust, number pad is great. no idea why but the scroll portion of the mouse pad stops working sometimes on web sites... don't know if its me or the computer though. very easy to use and highly recommend.

Overall, this computer was a satisfactory purchase. It's my first laptop and a very good one indeed. Take it everyday to work and it keeps up with all the other computers but at half the price. Great refurbished product. I have had it for about a month and when I am watching videos and try to turn up the sound on the touch bar, it stalls and won't play the movie. But everything else is in perfect, working order.

I have purchased 3 of the Pavilion dv9000 machines. This last one has worked very well. I had to return my previous purchase for a replacement keyboard key that had broken and the DVD drive that needed to be replaced. All were replaced and returned without further incident, however the payment of next day service should be noted as only once it has been readied for shipping after the repair.

I cannot say ANYTHING bad about this laptop. Buy.com ended up sending me a dv9920us upgrade and it runs perfectly. The Vista 64 bit is actually pretty nice, the burner is great, screen is great, and the WiFi is fast. It was easy to set up and is beautiful to look at. The only CON I can see is the nVidia is a little slow, so extreme gamers will be impatient. But in every other way I can think of, this is an AMAZING computer for the price. BUY ONE or you will be sorry you didn't.

I thought about this for a long time and finally decided to give it a try. Appearance is near perfect can't say if it was any worse than new. Had a problem about a week after purchase with is noise coming through the speakers. Called HP they requested that I return for for service. They sent the prepaid shipping box, I shipped it out on Wednesday and had it back on Monday. Could have had it sooner if not over the weekend. Would not hesitate to order refurbed products from Buy.com again.

I have owned this computer for 2 weeks and I have put it thru the mill, 12 hours a day without one single glitch, if they make a better one I would love to see it. Great price with no shipping nor tax added for the refurb model. Easy to use and set up. A lot of junk stuff from various software venders was included. Very fast internet connection with DSL (1200). Fair picture quality but poor sound quality. It is difficult to open from the closed and latched position.. Seems a little stiff. The supplied 8 cell lithium lasts less than 2 hours. No HDMI connection nor tv tuner with this model. The disc player is hard to open without looking for the right button to push. Overall pleased with the product.

Amazing computer considering the price. It arrived just little over a week after I placed the order even though I used the free shipping option. All of the hardware works great and the computer performance is really amazing considering the price tag. The only weak point is the graphics, which probably won't handle high-end games well, but is more than enough for watching movies and basic productivity. This makes this computer the perfect choice for anybody who does just that. The remote control is a nice touch too.

This computer is a great buy for the price. It's very fast and easy to use, and the 17" screen is awesome. The only problem I had was that the product key for the MS software was not included.

I bought one for myself then bought a second one three days later for my wife. This is an amazing deal. Mine arrive in flawless condition. It took an hour to uninstall all the trial copy crap and turn off all the Vista gimicks - but for $600 you can't beat it.

What a fantastic machine, loaded with features like a built-in webcam and microphone and a cool remote that hides away in the PC card slot. Fantastic screen too! Refurbished? It looks brand new to me. Recovery disks were easy, but time consuming to create. C'mon HP just ship the disks!

Followed the set-up instructions step-by-step, and everything worked great --- including the creation of recovery discs (which I read others had difficulty with). Bought this because it seemed to have a lot of features for the money. We are very pleased with the result. It's a great machine with plenty of power for what we need it to do. The only thing I wish it had was the 64 bit OS installed on it. You can get the 64 bit version from Microsoft, but that would require a complete re-install and it would erase all of the add-on software that comes out of the box (which could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it...HP loads them up with a lot of stuff...some good, some wasteful). Already one friend has bought the same laptop. One could say it is a bit heavy, but I consider this a portable more than a laptop. It is fine for what we generally do with it (walk around the house with it)
