5 of 5 I love it! Friday, November 07, 2008 Leslie from Auburn, Wa
I'm very happy with my laptop. It's very handy to have with me and I can sit just about anywhere with it. I am pleased so far. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Incredible Value Saturday, September 27, 2008 Rich from Geneva, IL
I did a lot of shopping before purchasing, both online and bricks-and-mortar. This machine was an exceptional value!
Many of the comments complained that, because it was a refurbished machine, there was this, that, and the other thing wrong with it. I used to run a refurb center for electronic goods and know all the "tricks of the trade". This was in mint condition, and I suspect probably was never even used or taken out of the box originally. Everything works, is clean, no scratches or signs of use.
Vista takes a little getting used to, but my copy of MS Office 2007 Pro, which crawled on my (now dead) 5 yr. old Gateway machine w/ 512 mB RAM, now flies with the 3 gB of RAM. I do plan to go up to 4 gB eventually, though.
The ONLY thing I didn't like is that there is no operation manual or CD/DVD - apparently you have to go online to read or print it. Other than that, I can't recommend this purchase more highly!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Value Sunday, September 07, 2008 A Customer from Groesbeck, TX
I have been very pleased with this laptop. My children and grandkids live 1000 miles away. The built in webcam has allowed us to talk and see them which has been awesome. Battery life has also been quite good. It did take much longer than 3 days to ship, however. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far, so good Wednesday, September 03, 2008 S.G from Show Low, AZ
I was reserved about ordering a refurbished laptop - but the budget and my high expectations brought me this route. So far, it is working out good. The laptop looks and behaves brand new. I have to admit - I was leary of Vista, and am still adjusting. 3 GB of RAM would send a Windows XP computer screaming so fast you couldn't keep up with it. But Vista seems to run only good with it. I truly expected it to run faster with these system specs, and Vista is the only reason I can think of why it's not. It is running good, and hopped right on my wireless network. The webcam seems to work, although I have not used it in an IM yet. Haven't used the microphone yet, and the speakers are not that great. I wouldn't use it for my primary mp3 computer. I have not yet tried out all the goodies, but I'm on my way.
Only bad thing I've noticed is the screen has high glare/reflectivity in bright light. Also, has one of those shrunken Shift Keys on the right-hand side. I hate those! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Nice Laptop Saturday, July 12, 2008 A Customer from Baltimore, Maryland
The computer I received works great. It has a lot of nice features and includes a nice package of software. The wide screen monitor looks excellent, too. I find the included Windows Vista Operating system works well for me. Was this review helpful?

3 of 5 new lap top Tuesday, June 10, 2008 jhoda from schwenksville,pa
Vista is still to quirky. I would be happier with XP.Some manuals or other documentation would be helpful.A novice would have a tough time setting it up. Everything in it is as advertized.Clean and new look. To soon to give an opinion but it looks like a good value Was this review helpful?

The laptop is a great deal for the power and features. The description and the picture are both wrong however, as there is no HDMI port on the laptop. Was this review helpful?

This laptop computer arrived last night in a box clearly marked by HP as a "refurbished" computer. In the evening light, it at first looked good. But as it got darker while I was getting it configured, I turned on the room light and that's when I noticed this computer was dirty and extremely worn physically. The textured keys were worn shiny from extensive use, and there were dozens of small spots of something that had been splashed on the computer, both inside and out, and then dried. It was almost like someone had sneezed on it just after eating some food and not bothered to wipe it off except for maybe the screen. I am very surprised that HP would resell such a dirty and well worn, very used piece of equipment. The documentation is also too brief. All that came with it was a short Quick Start guide. Ive lost a lot of faith in HP from this experience. I'm still trying to decide whether to send it back or not. I just need a working machine right now and having to replace this messy, very used, well worn laptop is going to be a hassle. I question how long this laptop is going to last as it has obviously seen extensive use in the past. Very disappointing! Very, very disappointing indeed! Was this review helpful?

I agree the shipment of the product comes very fast after I made the purchase from buy.com. However, after the first attempt, it was found out that webcam was not working for this notebook. after talking with HP services for hours to troubleshoot this , I had to return it to HP for a fix. also there is only 90 days warranty for this product. so watch out when you buy a refurnished one. After this experience, I would rather spend a bit more to buy a new one. sometimes you can not just look at the price!!! It is just a painful to go through all these headache!!

3 of 5 Great laptop, but only 14 DAY WARRANTY Tuesday, May 20, 2008 A Customer from Toledo, OH
This is a great laptop at a fantastic price. Only concern is with the very limited 14 day warranty. After that, buyer beware.
If you buy one of these, be sure to put it through some rigorous testing the first two weeks to be sure that it was refurbished correctly, otherwise the great deal could turn sour. It says that these are factory refurbished, so it is a bit disappointing that HP won't stand behind the repairs any longer than two weeks. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Nice for the price Monday, May 19, 2008 A Customer from Zanesville OH
Unit arrived in like new condition. It works as advertised although I haven't tried the webcam or card reader. I bought this laptop to run Linux and it's doing a good job so far. I expected a little more from the Altec Lansing speakers but they're no worse than most other laptop speakers. Was this review helpful?

Great Laptop, great price. Has everything on my wishlist for RAM, CPU, Video, etc. I love all the little touches, like the scroll area on the touch pad, and the mute/volume controls, and the remote control!
The 17" display is great on my middle-aged eyes, but the trade-off is that it gets heavy to have on my lap for a long time. The shiny display is great indoors, not so good outdoors. Was this review helpful?
