5 of 5 Great deal! Tuesday, May 19, 2009 Tyson from Broomfield CO
Never thought I would buy a refurbished anything, but when we received the netbook and used it, it was great. Could not even tell it was refurbished except for the fact that it said it on the box in came in. And since squaretrade offered the warranty it was even better. Will definitely look more into refurbished items because with electronics now a days its a crap shoot so the warranty always helps. Do not be afraid to purchase, it is a wonderful product. 4 of 5 Great Product Monday, May 18, 2009 Alan M. from Maricopa, Arizona
Pros:
1. Great sleek form.
2. Nice display
3. Windows XP
4. SSD No moving Part.
Cons:
1. Battery life could be better.
2. Video port non existant. Had to order cable from HP for $25.
I purchased a refurbished unit. It has a bad pixel, that is always "on", and looks like a little bright dot all the time on the screen. Called HP, will fix it for free, but it will take 10 days.
Overall... The sleekest, best looking, XP Based Netbook available on the market! You won't be disappointed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great netbook for the kids Tuesday, May 12, 2009 A Customer from Phoenix AZ
I got the netbook for my kids. They love it. With the solid state drive it is quiet and can handle their roughness. I diasabled all the unnecessary serivces and options that slow down XP and this little netbook performace great. I have no need for the camera so I have not even used it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 WOW This is the deal Monday, May 11, 2009 Dave from Linthicum, MD
Fast shipping started this purchase off right! Easy to set up right out of the box. All updated driver availbale in the HP website. Nice little package for easy traveling, but has a good size screen and keyboard. Only problem found so far is with the camera as it sucks (way too dark under normal lighting) unless you put a floodlight in your face. Rumor has it that HP placed a filter strip in front of the lens that can be removed if you are bold enough. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Sleek, fast, light excellent value Saturday, May 09, 2009 Joe from Brooklyn, NY
This little netbook has everything - it is stylish, light, and has acceptable power for its size. There are 2 main drawbacks that I would have to say. First, the battery only lasts about 3 hours. This isn't a huge problem, but since it is so light and portable, I want to take it everywhere, meaning that I need extended battery time. I'll be buying a spare battery for it, which I can do since it is so cheap. Second, the hard drive is way too small. Again, this is not a huge problem, but since I take it everywhere, I need my files to go with me. I'll be buying a 16GB SD card to fix this problem which again, I can do since it was so cheap. Overall, I would highly recommend this computer. I have not even touched my old laptop since I got it, except to move files. Was this review helpful?

The HP 1030NR has everything I wanted and more. In addition to the Intel Atom, 1GB of RAM and 16GB SSD, HP also provides a mini mobile drive for addition storage that hides within the dimensions of the case. The MMC and SD slot and 2 USB ports add to the functionality. The display is beautiful, every bit as sharp and clear as the large HP widescreen on my desktop. And the available VGA adapter is a nice option to have. Performance is more than acceptable and the built-in wireless connects to available networks quickly and seamlessly. Size and weight are terrific. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Wife loves it! Monday, May 04, 2009 A Customer from South Jersey
My wife absolutely loves this thing. its her new laptop and it's perfect for her. i also bought her a small laptop mouse (Logitech) and she's all set. beautiful screen. plus since she's been on it she hasn't touched MY laptop ;) everyone is happy...
the only negative i've noticed is the built in camera does not work well in low light. other than that. it's been great. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product Monday, May 04, 2009 Laurie from IL
I am a college student. It is little but not really little. I can put it in my purse and go into a coffee shop and I'm on the internet! I do have the 17" version of the HP which is way bulky and heavy so this was really great. I have really been happy with it. It is small enough that my teenagers can't find it. It is not everything a larger laptop is that is for sure, but it works for what I need it for. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great little netbook Sunday, May 03, 2009 ME from Portland, OR
It uses one memory stick so if you want to upgrade to 2mb you'll have to buy a 2mb stick of laptop memory. The HDD isn't really upgradable, it's not the standard laptop size, it's very small and to use the 30gb hard drive you can get from HP it's very expensive. All is not lost though, since the 2gb flash drive it comes with seems to be made for booting off of. It's more then enough to install Ubuntu on and even run from. Ubuntu makes a installer for Netbooks like this one specially made to use a memory stick. A standard SD card slot is available if more space is needed.
With WinXP the wireless network takes a while to connect, with Ubuntu it's much faster. Sleep mode with windows works well, it takes more time for WinXP to wake up then Ubuntu. My biggest complaint about this Netbook is that while using IE to brows the web it always seems a little choppy, the same behavior is noticed while using Ubuntu but it doesn't seem as bad since it come with firefox.
Its light, it's stylish, it's thin, and it's easy to install more memory. No CDrom so you may want to think about adding one since that seems to be the only way to reinstall WinXP if you have too. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 HP has a Great Little Netbook Sunday, May 03, 2009 Ken from Pacific Northwest coast
This little Netbook is everything you'd want and expect. A keyboard that is big enough to type on with a screen that is large enough to easly view. All in a small light package. Performance is good and having a solid state memory means you don't have to worry about hard disk head crashes. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love it! Wednesday, April 29, 2009 A Customer from Battle Ground, WA
I just love this little notebook. It does everything I need it to do. My daughter and my husband both want one. I just tuck it into my purse and where-ever there is wi-fi I can log into the internet, check my emails, pay my bills, or just listen to music. I get so many comments - it's so cool! I fly lot, and got tired of the TSA hassle unpacking my HP6000V laptop for the inspectors, so I decided to try the Mini. It's small enough to slip into a side pocket of my carryon pack so the "TSA problem" is over. In fact, when I pull it out for inspection, some of them think it's a toy. It ain't no toy! It's a fully functional, well packaged, versatile computer with all the built-in features you need, plus plenty of add-on capability (direct SD chip and USB plug-ins for easy memory expansion is just one. Long battery life is another.) Put me down for five stars on this one. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Working good in TN Wednesday, April 29, 2009 An Ahole from Maryville, TN
I purchased this like most others here. They sent me an email reminding me of their great daily deals, and at half the price, it was a no brainer. The machine is great in every way except it's a tad bit slow sometimes. I have not figured out if its the sites I'm visiting, the limited memory or the processor. That being said, I am truly happy with the mini as well as my experience with Buy.com. I plan to double the memory and just enjoy it at any speed! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works Great Wednesday, April 29, 2009 A Customer from New Jersey
I bought this for my wife who wanted a light machine for email and browsing while watching TV.
I was a bit hesitant buying a refurbished machine, but took the plunge.
Machine works great; no problems after a few weeks. Setup was a snap. I'd highly recommend it.
And best of all my wife loves it. Exactly what the doctor ordered. It's become a staple in our family room. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Netbook! Tuesday, April 28, 2009 JayDubya from Traverse City, MI
This thing works flawlessly, boots reasonably fast, and runs quickly & quietly. No hard drive drone thanks to the built-in flash drive. Keyboard, wireless function, and display all excellent. Pointing device so-so. Attractive package. Battery performs as advertised. Could not tell it was refurbed. Outstanding value in a netbook. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works like a charm. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 A happy customer from Badger, Mn
I purchased this for my son so he could play his games and chat on the net without tying up my computer. It works wonderfully and he is completely satisfied. It was a real good deal at 1/2 the price it's factory refurbished but looks and works as if brand new I would never hesitate to buy a refurbished product from buy.com. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Extra Portable Monday, April 27, 2009 A Customer from Austin, TX
The HP Mini is exactly what it claims to be, a "netbook" intended for tasks not requiring lots of processing power. Its small size and great screen and keyboard make this item a real value, especially at the refurb price. Some cons: the display "aspect ratio" provides a screen whose left-to-right dimension is fine but the top-to-bottom (lines per display) dimension makes for a "squished" looking display. The proprietary VGA connector, requiring a $20 HP cable if you want to connect to a conventional VGA connector. Another thing to be aware of is that, while the HP Mini has Bluetooth software installed, there is no Bluetooth hardware. For example, if you want to use a Bluetooth mouse with the HP Mini, make sure you buy the mouse AND the USB to Bluetooth adapter. Overall, I am very satisfied. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It works. Monday, April 27, 2009 A Customer from Boring, OR
The only issue I had was with the firewall not allowing my wireless network to connect. Installed CA firewall and everything works fine. It doesn't come loaded with programs so you have plenty of space to work with. Good product, like new. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love my HP Mini Monday, April 27, 2009 Nan from Wassaic, NY
I got an e-mail from Buy.com advertising an HP Mini. The price was right and I was curious. I had never wanted a cumbersome laptop. I ordered the Mini with free shipping and it arrived in TWO days. I was thrilled and love the Mini. It is super light weight, yet the display is easy to read and the keyboard easy to type, unlike the Blackberries. I can carry the mini in my purse. The only thing missing is a dvd/cd drive, but I dont need it. Any songs I can play with a thumb drive. Thanks Buy.com for bringing this to my attention. Was this review helpful?
2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Great Netbook Sunday, April 26, 2009 JD from Branford, CT
I bought this for my mom for surfing the web, email, online banking, watching youtube videos, etc, and it's perfect for her needs. She wanted something small to keep on the kitchen table, and she ends up streaming live QVC on it most mornings with her coffee. She knows nothing about computers and uses this with ease after only a few minutes.
I've always had good luck with HP refurbs and this is no exception. The 10.1" screen is fantastic compared to the smaller 8.9" netbooks without being too big, and the picture is beautiful (a bit glossy though). The near full size keyboard is very easy to type on. The webcam was an added bonus, and she uses it to cam the grandkids. When the kids come over they use this for playing flash games and whatnot with her, and it handles everything with a breeze.
It really is an awesome little machine, and one of the best imo compared to other netbooks out there (i researched a bunch of them). The SSD drive is a huge plus for a netbook (no spinning drive and more durable), as was XP (versus Linux). Extremely easy initial set-up in terms of it quickly finding the internet on a wireless network. I plugged a digital camera into it and the HP software detected it without hassle and downloaded the images quickly and with ease.
The only negative thing is the 3 cell battery which seems to last a bit more than 3 hours. This is fine for my mom who uses it plugged in most of the time, but could be an issue for someone looking for a netbook that lasts longer when on the go. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great deal on refurb HP Netbook Monday, April 20, 2009 A Customer from Lake Forest, CA
I really love my HP Netbook. I had actually purchased three different ones and compared them all side by side, and the HP won hands down for contract, clarity, and keyboard size. The only down point, is this one has a three hour battery life, but as I plan on having it on via power cord - that was a non-issue. Looks brand new w/all orig packaging. I also purchased the two year warranty just as a precaution, but overall love this little guy! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 High performance at a great value Monday, April 20, 2009 JD L. from Tampa, FL
I chose this unit to serve as a highly portable machine that would still allow me to watch video, review pictures from my DSLR, send and receive e-mail, and run productivity software (not included). The full(er) size keyboard is a huge advantage for me over slightly smaller netbooks. The mouse buttons on the side take some getting used to, but if you are not on this machine all day it is fine. Web cam is dark even in full sunlight, as experienced by other users. Battery life is good, but not excellent with the included 3-cell battery. I have been able to play 720p H.264 video on mine, which to my knowledge is not possible on other 1.6Ghz Atom netbooks. This model does have a CPU fan, which I was not aware of. Noise from the fan is low and it does a good job of keeping the whole unit in the cooler range of what is considered acceptable for current notebooks. Overall, if you are looking for a netbook, I would highly recommend this one. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Mobile Machine Monday, April 20, 2009 A Customer from Costa Mesa, CA
This ultra portable computer is great for any bag. At just over 2 lbs it is easy to take with you anywhere. It boots extremely fast (solid state is awesome) and zips right along online. With a price tag under $300 it is a steal. I highly recommend this computer to anyone. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great netbook, some things for HP to improve Monday, April 20, 2009 A Customer from Ft. Washington, MD
This netbook works great, fits into my glove compartment, suits my needs for a portable easy to use machine. When turning on it starts quickly and I can run multiple programs with none to little delay. Speaker quality is also very good. Bright screen is excellent. Design is great overall and I have to agree with previous reviews about its keyboard. It's the best I've seen on a small machine like this. The swirl design is great. It's not too noticeable but when noticed, lots of compliments.
The only draw back is when I use it for video chat! Is it just mine? Camera quality is not good, very dark! Was this review helpful?

2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 hp mini works as advertised Sunday, April 19, 2009 Keith from Michigan
First purchase of a netbook. Best features: very lightweight, small footprint, bright display, solid build. 16gb ssd is adequate for loading a few apps, just not tons of music files or videos. Would suffice for travel needs, no need for bulkier laptop. 3-cell battery only last a few hours, not one of the high points. Get a higher capacity battery if offered. I wasn't expecting a full-size laptop so there are obvious tradeoffs. This would never be a primary laptop. Keyboard is ok as mentioned in reviews but not like a well-designed keyboard on a fuller sized lt even a 12" or 13.3. Vertical scrolling gets a bit tedious. For more than light usage, I still prefer at least 12" with more responsive keyboard and trackpad. But for intended purpose, I am pleased and it is worth $279. Refurb not an issue. Had issues with Skype that have not had on dt. Processor definitely not up to core duo. Webcam only fair. But for intended purpose, I am pleased and it is worth $279. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 netbooks rock! Saturday, April 18, 2009 Jack from South Bend, IN.
Bought this for my wife so she wouldn't have to lug her larger laptop around everywhere...she loves it! It seems to do everything she needs it to do and can transfer her work as needed (because of the lesser amount of memory) to her desktop or laptop with ease. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Perfect for traveling Saturday, April 18, 2009 JRG from Newnan, GA

5 of 5 Excellent product Saturday, April 18, 2009 Daryl T from Armada, MI
Well packaged from the manufacturer. I would buy "Factory refurbished" from HP anytime. Not a scratch anywhere. All accessories and documentation complete. Light weight easy to use anywhere. Built for productivity and research not gameability. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far, so great! Saturday, April 18, 2009 A Customer from Miami, FL
I bought this netbook to have something that is easy to carry around the house. This fills that role perfectly. I can surf the web, check email, watch videos, and listen to music from wherever I want. I plop myself on the couch with it and use it in bed. It came in handy when I was making repairs on my bicycle and was using the web for instructions. I haven't travelled with it yet, but I can tell it will be a lot easier to lug around than my laptop. It's a little slow, but not too bad. I love the size and weight. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Value !! Wednesday, April 15, 2009 A. B. from Jacksonville, FL
Bought this jewel for travel. I'm extremely pleased with the performance and features. For the price, it's hard to beat. The unit I received was indistinguishable from new - not a scratch. It worked perfectly out of the box and has performed flawlessly for a week now. The wi-fi is outstanding. Gets an excellent signal where my older laptop is marginal. No trouble connecting in 3 different airports so far. You should install antivirus software before surfing. Buy it! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great for the price! Monday, April 13, 2009 JP from Santa Fe, NM
Refurbished but looks like new. The screen is nice and bright. Speed is average for this cpu, but good enough for the casual use I boughit for. Boots pretty quickly for a cheap SSD. The 16 gig drive is small, but the only aditional software I really need on it is open office, picasa and antivirus. Battery life seems good so far. The wifi radio is excellent, picking up more waps than some of my other laptops. The trackpad can be spastic when scrolling, but otherwise ok. I swithed to 2GB of ram for another $20. Thinner than the ASUS equivalent, and looks like a higher quality build to me. Was this review helpful?

Bought this about two weeks ago and am hugely satisfied with the price, performance, and quality of this little unit. I wanted something to haul around the house to browse the web, IM,and play my beloved Chuzzle and this more than provides what I need. Refurbished, but cannot tell - looks and performs as brand new. 16 GB hard drive may seem small but for what I use it for is plenty of space. The package even included a 2 GB mini flash for backups. Really impressed with the display; I thought a 10.1" screen may be too small, but it's more than adequate, and it's bright, sharp, and crystal clear.
If you are looking for a great deal for a utility PC don't pass this up. Was this review helpful?
