I'm a pro photographer who put off switching from a CRT to LCD as long as possible. I searched long and hard to learn about the different types of display panels and find out the best type for critical photo viewing and editing. One of the most critical specs is the angle of view, because if the brightness, contrast, density and color changes as you move your head around, you can't rely on it for adjusting those values in Photoshop. This monitor has 178° horizontal and vertical angle of view, which is as good as it gets. I looked for the most affordable LCD monitor that meets my requirements, and this is it. You can't touch it at this price for the specs. To make it even sweeter, HP is giving a $50 rebate on this model, and if you take the Revolution Card deal from Buy.com, there's another $50 off. Additional features that usually come only on Pro model monitors at much higher cost are a screen that can be rotated 90° for portrait view, and a height adjustable swivel and tilt quick-release stand. Also, you can connect two computers to this monitor through two DVI/VGA inputs, and HP even gives you four monitor cables, two for VGA hookups and two for DVI. I've had the monitor for a month, and am very happy with it.

Excellent picture! Most important aspect that distinguishes this monitor from others of the same size is it's perfect handling of text. All monitors will show you food pictures these days, but if you work with text, most of them will blur parts of letters in certain places. It may happen on different text sizes and is very annoying if work with text a lot. With HP LP2056 any text you view is SHARP!! I love it! It's the best! Also consider this: Smooth installation. 2 video inputs so you can connect to PCs to it and switch easily. All cables and connectors you might need are provided. The pedestal is very solid and stable. No shaking. Position is easily adjustable. Overall excellent monitor at very good price!!! Especially for those of us who work on computer a lot. I bought another one for my wife, after 3 days of using it. It was just too good. And she likes it as well.

I am extremely pleased with this monitor. By all accounts, it is an S-IPS panel, which is very crisp and clear. Additionally, the 8ms makes it quick enough for games. To note: There is a raging debate online that HP MAY, and only MAY, be swapping the IPS panel for a lower quality one. Apparently, Dell has been doing this for some time according to a number of the sites and the fear that others will do this to lower costs and increase profits. That said, crystal clear and easy to view. Double DVI is a nice touch. Pivot works, but software seems to not work. Add to that, Buy.com is a great site and their customer care helps where they can.

After doing a bunch of research I found this monitor and it is as good or better than I expected. No bad pixels. Screen connects to the base via a quick connect which is pretty slick. Very sturdy stand with good adjustment capabilities. Monitor auto adjusts very nicely and it handles a lot of resolutions without looking too fuzzy. I am running mine at 1024x768 via the analog connection without problems. Looks a bit sharper at full 1600x1200 as you would expect, but it is pretty small. Only issue I can knock it on so far possibly is that it gets a bit warm at the top of the screen.
